Can anyone advice if these motors can be used for xframe quadcopters 450mm? Advice please
Walter Clark  6 points - 4/4/2013

This is a BRUSHLESS MOTOR 101 Question. The shaft appears to come out the back side on this motor. On others the shaft is on the correct side. Yet the motor mounts are identical. The fact that they are identical tells me this motor was not dreamed up out of the blue, but that there are certain standards. By any chance can the shaft be turned around after manufacture. There is a set screw holding the shaft in and and slip ring on the other end. Walt
 H-KING_SCOTT 5156 points
The 2 types of orientation largely depend on the models requirements......some use the IC style firewall & x-mount combo.....some, like this one, fit "behind" the forward firewall.....most can be reversed but there is nothing out of the blue about this design and there is no such thing as "standard".

would this motor be suited for a Cosmic Wind kit plane which signifies a Rimfire .10 as ideal.
 Gary 2962 points
The Rimfire.10 is a 35mm diameter motor where as this one is only 28mm.Would suggest something like the NTM Prop Drive Series 35-30A 1400kv / 560w,its a slighly higher kv but on 3s will give will be slightly more powerful than the Rimfire.

Can this lift 1.5kg min?
 Tuomas 80 points
My selection for that weight would be bigger like 3536 motor. However I have used this motor with Hype U can Fly (1.25kg) trainer without any problems. These days its in my yak(1kg) with (4s) setup and it can climb up endlessly. See video starting 1min.

Anyone know if this or other motor will work on the Multiplex Acromaster 43" wingspan? The turnigy 35-42d is supposed to work, but reviews not good and backordered. It should be similar to Himax HC3516 1130KV motor.
 blankrobber 23 points
Get the S-Line 3536 or 3542- the 3542 if you want a ton of power. I think HK overstated the watts on the 2834 assuming people would be using small, lightweight props in a 4s setup. A 43" span plan will be hard to motivate with a 7" prop.

Is the weight really just 70g ?
 PATaMAT 5 points
i mean including the wires, and connectors
 andrgr 52 points
yes Is the weight really just 70g is sires 28-34 with connectors ps 85gr
 blankrobber 23 points
Yup. I got 69.8 gm - but that does not include the prop adapter that attaches to the end bell which weighs 7.3gm additional

590W ! I'll review this when I get it
 Rick662u 20 points
Not 590 w, but a great little unit. Lots of 3d flights and performs flawlessly thus far
 Moosi 26 points
Can you give us your measurement?

what propeller and what battery Amperage for this motor?
 Bongose 80 points
10x5 on 3s would be good I think
 Dillzio 403 points
depends on how much power you want to put though it. I think 10x5 would be right on the upper limit of what this motor could take. I'd go more like a 9x6, or a 9.5x6 for a big more thrust if you want
 andrgr 52 points
I think 10x5 would be right
 blankrobber 23 points
you got to be clear on the voltage you are running. A lightweight GWS 8x6 prop on 4s (14.8v) is fine at high elevations (I am * 1000 m above sea level) and I have used a GWS 10x8 while running 3s with motor temps holding below 90 degress celsius. One note, the thinner GWS props cavitate/distort at the higher 4s RPM's and make a weird sound.
 plngh 32 points
Using a 2200mah 25c 3 cell battery I'm running a 11X4.7 slo-fly. I get about 8,800RPM, *480watts, and 37amps for a calculated thrust of a little over 2kg! At this power level it will get awfully hot if you run it too long but, since it will hover my 850gram foam Yak at 1/3-1/2 throttle, one doesn't need full throttle for more than a few seconds at a time. This setup gives me around 8.5 minutes of hard 3D flying per charge.

Shaft is realy only 3mm? that's very unusual
 Bongose 80 points
mount the motor rearwards and use the other, bigger mount-on shaft...
 wing in ground 27 points
Well they seem to be a bit optimistic concerning the power,so maybe they are a bit pessimistic regarding the shaft dimension! Anyway I have to agree - 3mm. is not a lot for a motor of this size regardless of how you turn it around!!
 blankrobber 23 points
Ehhh...they use a prop adapter that screws to the front of the end bell. More likely to break something like a screw on the adapter.
flugzeug  47 points - 8/2/2011

ah, a 900kV version would be awesome :)
 MegaTesla 576 points
What is a 100kv difference between www.link
 __edd! 226 points
I would not agree more with flugzeug
Lower KV and less amp draw would be a nice choice

Really good motor for FLYING WEIGHT* 670g or more. I use 11x5.5E prop with a 30a ESC, it gave around 285watt really good after a 5mins flied you can hold battery in your hand just warm. so if i use 12x6 would give above 300watt. really nice Currently use it on mine Hokusei SBach 342 EPP SC plane

A great motor on a telink buster 3d. Vertical performance and good low down. Light and quiet. Seems good quality. I purchased a second. 10x4.7 on 3s. 40 a esc... Hardly warm after 3d.

really nice motor. went up to 4s in my GWS Corsair and the 2834 handled it. No increase in weight. Did NOT have to modify the GWS stick-motor mount for shaft collar . Ran a trimmed down GWS 1080 DD prop (@1000m ASL) and got 585 watts with crazy thrust. Motor runs really warm with heat transferring out through the prop nut but the entire unit never exceeded the 100 C mark. might want to pick up an extra prop mount, the one included is kind of skinny.
