i use a 2200 batterie and a 2826 motor 2200kv a prop 6*4 it works awesome and climb realy great, i tried with many diferent combinations but this really makes great wing!!

2826 is huge ... it weight as the wing it-self.
6x4 prop will not fit without cutting some EPP .. so ... all in all for what you said I guess you don't have a Bonsai, but something else *-) ... Maybe the teksumo ... the big brother of the bonsai
i have bonsai and teksumo, bouth with the same configuration, but the bonsai is the one we use for combat so we made it fast to make so much fun the combat, the CG was hard to find but with some time i found it, about the epp cutting, yes, ive cut 1.8 cms each side to fit the 6x4 prop, trie it is a great fly (not for planning)just combat and speed

You need to define fast ... mine does around 100km/h on 2S http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_qy6QqfIi4 ... you need a 2000kv motor less then 20g and capable of 12amp, 3S lipo 700mAh and 5x5 prop with 12amp esc ... it will fly over 100km/h
yes ,but it wont fit where you would normally put it on bonsai,i have heard of people taking outer shell off rx to lighten it(put in heatstrink i think).this is what i use that works with 9x v2.Hobby King GT-2 2.4Ghz Receiver 3Ch(the only prob is were you fit the servo plugs and esc wire ,they stick out(so placing rx in compartment provided is not a good idea)so i just stuck rx on top.works will good for 300 meters no brownouts(line of sight).goodluck
Gary****, It's up to yourself, I've fit mine in the hole for the receiver and moved the ESc between the receiver and the battery, I've tried to put a picture in the file area, but now I think it takes a week or so to show up, I normally land in longish grass so underneath is good for me.
What I meant was, you put it where it suits yourself, there's no rules saying it has to go in the hole, if you want it in the hole you will have to adapt it to suit, you can put it beside/behind the battery or on top it's upto you the builder/assembler there's no right or wrong place as long as you get CG right, everywhere is good!
I've put a few pics in the file area of my bonsai and teksumo, if you look hard at the teksumo you can see some of the glue joints, 6 sticks of hotmelt and 10 tubes of super glue, it now weighs just under 900grms.
thanks for cred Ral,but what was that for, i was making a happy observation.because of your setup i did think about putting a 3s 1000 lipo on mine (prop down)(but was too scared).this plane is so agile(its a favourite).for me, agile plus speed plus my exceptional flying skills equals give me time and i will happily demonstrate a well executed crash(i can crash inverted,sideways,rightside up, you name it i can do it)lol happy flying

Dajaraja, I'm pretty good with a hotmelt glue gun I've had lots of practice..LOL, the only parts of the teksumo that havn't been torn are the elevons! they've been ripped off but tape holds them back again, as for the TX it's what I learnt RC planes on, I've been control line planes, RC boats, 3 and 4 channel copters then RC cars, and now I'm into foamies, I have quite a list of planes I fly with that TX, it teach's you how to set up a plane without the fancy remotes, all my planes are normally balanced and trimmed before they go in the air so the remote does not have to do anything but steer, a few clicks maybe on trims and that it, the reason teksumo was so damaged I was learning how to set up and fly deltas, (and maybe I'm still learning?) I've just received my first/next step Turnigy 9x transmitter, to get Australian "C" tick I bought the mode 1, and a back light, nobody tells you when converting mode 1 to mode 2 that the small spring you need to move over has NO spring retainer on the other stick and was a nightmare getting the other spring retainer on the other side!! I advise anyone doing the conversion to check before they start the conversion to see if the spring retainer is actually fitted to the other control stick, mine was NOT, if theirs is like mine it is much easier to just move the whole control stick. anyway I will be buying in future a few 6channel RX and maybe convert a few planes over to the 9x, I'm still coming to grips with the broken English menu on it, like mode = model and stick = mode, anyway it's all part of learning! have a nice day.
hey Ral,i ment no disrespect to you with my comments above(im impress)if it was taken in a negative light, please except my apology.ive built 2 deltas and other type planes and own the hk parkjet(my first plane)and other pnf planes before i brought the bonsai, so even though i had prior knowledge on how it was suppose to fly i still managed to nose in on launch a few times before she took off and flew(reveiw on bonsai ,great plane for taking crashes after crashes with only minor damage-"im impress")lol and thats with my upgraded tx(expo,d/rates used) ,the brother/sister of the 9x.so to fly with the 6df tx getting d/rates right (manually)and steering(without expo) at speed is still impressive to me (especially when you know that you can pull just about a 90 degree angle in any direction at speed and these 2 delta's will do it,meaning you can also go into crash mode if your not on to it.)and by no means do i consider myself an experienced flyer ,intermediate maybe(ive just learnt to smile alot more and have fun when i crash,its part of the deal,except it).i two , have alway setup my planes (balance etc)before i fly (i think the more you put into your pre-setup the higher the percentage of it flying as predicted)and that rule has never let me down.their is not one pre-built foamy i have that is not modded in some way and /or checked over(everthing) before maiden flight.i think i learnt the manual for 9x vai youtube,its a great help as well .it was a while back. but snotroll sounds familar.lol.yes i agree with you , it's all part of learning .ive learnt over the last few weeks to over estimate when your wife has ask for a quote on how much it will cost for everthing ,when buying from hk and you forgot to add that 50 metres of tape to your order you wanted.lol :)
I took no offense, I've enjoyed our conversation!, as for expo and duel rates I've never used them on any of my planes my Tx does none of that and none of my RC cars (27mhz) had any of that either, I set the plane up the old way trying minimum throws first (adjusting on the servo's) and moving the sticks slowly till you get the feel, The teksumo taught me this! and how to use a glue gun!..LOL, I'm just going to play around with the 9x for awhile, I've got about ten planes I use on the old 6channel Tx and I don't know if I want to swap them over yet, I'll have to buy 8 more RX's (I've got 2 Rx for 9x now)..I only bought the 9x so I could join a club, here they won't let you use a TX that does not have the "C" tick....and I tell my wife I forgot to add the postage AGAIN, IT WAS SO DEAR!,, it wasn't but she did'nt know..LOL, but it only works a few times, now she asks how much for postage!... I work afternoon shift so I'm home most of the day, I fly maybe 5 or 6 times a week weather permitting, but I've only flown for about 12 months so I'm no expert but I've learnt a lot about foamies in that time, I'm an electrical fitter/mechanic by trade so I have no problems with the electric's, now I have to learn The 9x and it's terminology and how it all comes together,... if your comfortable with tx why change.but then again. example=my wife and i never had aircon for years,until our first child came along.we got 1 fitted and then wondered why the hell we didnt get it years ago lol.thats what the 9x is like,easy adjustments with tx ,d/rates ,expo etc .i only use these 2 programms the most when setting up and timer.my planes esc's have low voltage cutoffs, but timer is a great addition as will when used for extra safety.they have the same rules here(c ticket) in wa for using tx at clubs.i checked all this out awhile back(i havent joined a club,not afordable at moment plus you needed a c ticket tx as you have pointed out and the 9x wasnt on the national list at the time.so maybe its been granted?.it's a great tx and i know it works with other tx's on the list without problems.been busy lately,weather hasnt been(windy perth) that great for flying (just brought the 1/16 Brushless 4WD Monster Beatle w/ 25Amp System )for those day's i cant fly,and once again im impress(great for beginner ,remodded a few things, put back togeather and is running sweet)and going to build a 3d plane to try out,cant wait as will.postage,already done that lol.i was only allowed the car and parts because the wife brought a brand new car for herself(she deserve's it,but 30 grand somehow in my mind dosent equate out to 400 bucks and then been told yourve spent to much and you cleaned out the garage for the new car,what gives-i already know this answer(happy wife,happy life)lol have good day:)
You'll enjoy the cars, I've got about 13 Tamiya cars, 2 still in the box's, with tamiya's you have to build them yourself and parts are easy to get, but foamies have distracted me at the moment, Have a good day :-)
Just on that "C" tick stuff, I believe the C tick means the company producing the TX take responsibility for it complying with Oz regulations (it's not really tested), and being on the list means it has been tested by the MAAA and found to comply, BUT the USER takes responsibility for the compliance, so in effect if your on the list Like the Orange TX's and an accident happens you have to prove your radio comply's!..anyway after all my research that's how it looks to me, ANYONE please don't argue with me That's only what I think It may be all wrong!
yes great fun ,(the car ) my 6 yr olds been wanting to have a go since ive had it running(2 days)ive told her i need to make sure ive set it up properly(i just want to play with it myself) lol.im going to set a limiter on throttle(i know you can do it ,i hope)just havent read the manual fully on how to do it with tx i brought(d/rates on all 3 channels).so might give d/rates a go to see if it works and go down the park.yes c ticket from memory sounds like what i found too(info)but can be wrong also.yippee 2 wrongs:)
yes i gave my old monster truck(toy r us) to my girls to use.i gave them a go yesterday of the beatle out the front of the house after i adjusted the throttle.it worked nice they really couldnt get into trouble as the throttle was set so low .happyday's
go bigger,auw should be around 200 grams to get slow,long glides.to go more than this weight demands more speed,plus this plane is really twitchy as Ral has pointed out(i agree)so unless you like a jet like feeling when flying with your fatshark dont use this(its a great wing)go with something bigger.Skywalker X-5 FPV / UAV Flying Wing 1180mm (USA warehouse) maybe?goodluck:)
I just weighed the FPV gear and its about 60 grams with everything but the tape to secure it. I have a team black sheep Caipirinha on the way as well as an x8 on my wall. I just want something small for my 5.8 system that i can strap to a backpack and go have fun with and not care as much about taking a digger with.
There's another good wing to consider a skywalker Falcon, there only $36 and it's brilliant, does slow and fast and is very aerobatic, one of my favorite planes, it's fairly big too 1350mm wingspan I think.

Im waiting for it to be in stock at the USA store. I was ordering some lipo's and just tacked one of these on because the price was glorious. Im at about 210g with a 18-11 2000kv Micro Brushless Outrunner and a 5x5 prop with a 500ma 2 cell and my fpv gear. CG is right so hopefully it can fly at that wieght with that motor/prop combo. If not i have a plane for friends to crash :)

I have mine setup on that, but I find this wing twitchy, when I get a chance I might move the CoG forward a bit and reduce the throws some more, If you hav'nt bought this bonsai yet spend the $10 more and get teksumo, I find it much more stable, better for a first wing.

hey neo,what would you like to achieve with this setup?also ive red your question to Anggara about your cg range.and it is the led adding weight to tail.if you take the lights off or move them forward ,you probly find your cg will change again and have to retrim elevator(up) again.test launching your plane is a good idea when trying to find a cg range on scatchbuilds planes but because it is noted on instructions just ballance bonsai on cg and move something/or add weight to front.normally it would be lipo moving or using heavier lipo to counter weight at other end.your setup is the same as my first setup apart from lighter motor(2g)and no led's.
A 7x6 prop of any make will not fit without cutting off parts of the elevons, I have a 6x4 MA prop on mine. I've just fitted a "PRODUCT ID: AX-2308N1800" motor to mine it has a longish shaft if your motor has a short shaft you may not get a 6x4 on with out cutting the elevons.
since the motor still in backorder, anyone can tell mewhat would be the best match for motor without any modification on it's mount?
im not an RC expert so i would avoid any modification or changing ist's factory setting.

hookup everything, Do a hand throw first see whether it can glide before fly. abit of nose heavy is good but not too much. If cant glide, slowly adjust the cg.
Hi Neo thanks for the tips and answer, i was thinking to get that motor too. Since you already used it an im new to this hobby, how do i attach the propeller to that motor? I never had experience with the motor with a very short shaft like that.
And could you recomend the best suit propeller for this plane and 2118 motor? Thank you so much for your time.. :)
Actually its not so easy to setup the wing. U have to test many launch and adjust the cg. My cg is around 160mm from the nose, is around the carbon rod. I also dont know why so far from the spec 135-142. By the the way i install led.light for night flying. I adding ard 50g of weight at the tail. Im using nano tech 2s 850mah. Making the wing very heavy now. But still fly well: )
writing on prop to face the nose of the plane on a rear motor wing model :-) If you have a watt meter, if you connect the prop the wrong way round it will draw more amps and give less thrust :-(
Help! Why my bonsai keep going to the right. Isit the propeller? Im using ep5030 propeller, with the ep5030 facing which side ( towards the nose or away)? Thanks
to start with neo,deltawings dont have or need side thrust ,long story stort to much info to explain this(get online and search info).numbers(5030) on prop should be facing motor(towards nose) looking from the back of the plane,if the rotation of prop is wrong swap 2 wires on motor to get correct rotation.troubleshooting(bonsai going right)check sideways ballance ie have stuck battery/esc/receiver/servos etc more to the right of centreline.check motormount is centre mounted (could be sitting slightly right looking from back of plane causing it to go right when throttle is applied).check vertical stabilizers and wing is not twisted. theirs alot of things that can cause a plane not to fly wright you just have to troubleshoot so hope some of these things help.is this your first deltawing plane?because for a newbie launching and trimming is the hardest.
hey neo,this is only my theory on this subject so someone that knows more might share .i built 2 deltawings before i brought the bonsai, both fly good.i needed to find cg's for both and found online, a cg calculator .get online and search *******moleski****/rc/WingMAC.htm it's a good read.my theory is the original cg is an estimate on esc/motor /servo/lipos that hk has recommended.i built mine with plush 12amp esc/hxt 500 servos/AX 1806N 2500kv Brushless Micro Motor (19g) /4.75x4.75 prop/800 nano 2s lipo/hk 3channel rx. i do remember after setting up servo's and motor/prop and placing esc/rx and lipo as per instruction.on ballancing the plane the cg was way off (somewere like yours)so moved the rx(placed rx on top of bonsai) forward at the same time ballancing plane on original cg until i got the needed ballance (slightly nose heavy)fixed rx in place all was good(correct original cg).changed motor 24g 2730 3000kv /esc hk20 amp same lipo to get verticals going did same procedure with same results.goodluck happy flying.
The tape that comes with this doesn't stick to it, unfortunately... so you'll have to use some different tape. I'd recommend Scotch Extreme tape, it tends to stick well to EPP like this.
Yea, I would like some of that scotch tape too, but it's not available to me, I've looked in all the hardware shops, bunnings, mitre10, home hardware and the local hardware, can only get it off e b a y for about $13, Vadek I suggest you buy some tape off hobbyking, I did it's cheaper, mix it in with an order and the cost comes down. good luck with it.
RAL,coles sells very similar tape,aleast in wa aussie.yes i went looking too for scatchbuilting and for protection of my planes,check it out ,(scotch) tough duct tape by 3m.not cheap but dose job better than standed tape.

Yeah the stuff that HK sells is great on here, and much better than what's included in kits like this. I ran out a long time ago LOL but I'll hopefully order a LOT more very soon, it's a great deal for the price as well.

thanks for cred but happy to help.research is key(bonsai setup rc)ie rcgroups**** ,flite test just to name a few for tips and ideas.if have never flown delta wings,for beginner (launching and ballancing is the hardest)research this also.keep light 150g to 200g auw and it will become one of your flavourite planes also.
the connection for servo is z bend wire that you heatshrink to c/f rod( works but not good setup)i used these Linkage Stopper M3x2xL11.2mm (10pcs/set) from hk with 1.5 c/f rod hxt 500 servos works very well.this wing is awesome ,one of my favourites.
Got two. first a little heavy sloper but works fine in 10-15mph winds but first throw was in 20 and it survived. Lovin' that epp. Second waiting on 2500kv motor 12a sc run with a 3cell and prob a 5x5. Hope it rails.

Got mine not long ago, well packaged. went together really well and quick. using a turnigy 1811 3800kv, plush 10amp esc and 5x5 prop coupled to a 800mah 2s batt. great performance and fantastic vertical climb rate. cog is perfect with this setup. use it for bird scaring in a vineyard, works a treat and have had some great dog fights with some birds. No Animal were harmed during this fun event. Makes turning up for work a joy knowing i get to fly while i work!!!!

I really dont know how fast maybe 100mph but I know the flight test guys got 70mph out of three cell set up with the 900mm wing so play with the prop size and who knows.
There are a lot of different combinations you could have it's up to personal preference, get him the wing and work out with him what he needs to power it up!

this works for me. does not go vertical but a good place to start. has your husband flown other planes?? what does he already have?
On the two I built I used Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 2118-3100kv,Turnigy 1440A Servo,
TURNIGY Plush 10amp, with the Turnigy nano-tech 850mah battery. 5X3 Propellers (5Pcs/Bag)
And Forget the push rods that come with it they are **** don't even try to use just replace them right away with standard ones, also tell him needs lots of expo in remote are else this will be way to hard to fly in high rates. pick up 2 of the bags of props and drill them out with a 7/32 bit to better fit the prop saver on that motor.

id use a motor hexatronic 2730 3000kv ,4.5by4.5 e prop 18amp plush esc, and a set of 500hxt 5g servos, and a 450mah 2s 35c lipo. hope that helps its a great runner and has great time in the air can fly it slow or fast. tommy ps when he gets good enough you can upgrade by simply changing the esc to the 30amp/3ubec blue series hobbyking and add a 3s 450 lipo keeping the same motor. probably pushes close to 100mph! fun!
The instructions are pretty OK for my standards. One thing though, don't just follow them, sometimes you need a little inspiration, e.g like when they just tell you to use the shrink tube to attach the Z bends. Use a little glue if you don't want them to part in the middle of a flight. :) Have fun!

the HXT500 is out of stock but any 5g servo should work. My bonsai will be a little heavy but should be fast.
for your first plane you should get a tuff trainer (PRODUCT ID: TUFF-EPP-PNP). The bonsai will be unstable for a beginner.
I am going to try a turnigy 1000mah 3s battery PRODUCT ID: N1000.3S.45
and I use a HK 50a charger PRODUCT ID: HKX-Charger
That battery and charger would also work good in a tuff trainer.
The stock 8 channel receiver that comes with the Turginy 9x is too heavy for this wing. You should get the Hoby King 3 channel (HK-GT2_RX)which is compatable to your Transmitter assuming that your 9x is V2. I fly this combo & keep the wing light which is the secret.
What setups are those that want a bit more performance running, and are you able to keep within the 140g max recommended flying weight? I've tried a few setups, so far the only combo I've found that gives a decent performance upgrade from the recommended combo AND keep the weight close to the 140g max recommended is a Park250 2200kv spinning a 5x5 prop on a nano-tech 460mah 3c with a Plush 10A esc. This setup draws just over 10A. This sits right at 150g though. Anyone manage to get under 140g while still maintaining 100w or over?
Oh yeah, trust to weight ratio is close to 2:1. Motor is being run way over spec though (Park250 rated at 50w, my setup pulling about 110w). Motor gets slightly warm, but no other problems so far
Ok thanks a lot. Great news for one of my friends that have that plane and says that "this thing can't climb at vertical". Now it will climb with no issues .
I can't believe so many people under power this wing! It works really well with the towerpro 3200kv motor, 4.75x4.75 apc prop, 3s 850mah 45-90c, about 250g or 300g with camera and voltage checker all up weight, 2:1 power to weight ratio. Fluorescent duct tape on the bottom works well for orientation, and it glides well, Hobbyking's best plane by far!
as noted way down below, does perfectly fine with a 3s 370mah, 2211-1700, 12amp esc, and a gws 5x4.3 ... is this vertical enough for you ? if you can't have enough fun with 52 watts for 152gm auw then you have to shop elsewhere
The weight on this plane is not really an issue as I used to (before I crashed it due to massive torque roll) fly at 250g all up using flitetest's setup with a large 1300mah 3s to balance it out.
Hot little wing - Excellent quality and comes 80pcnt built with all hardware. Installed 2 x HXT500s, Hextronik 18-11 2000kv motor and 6amp esc plush, OrangRx (out of case). Flies great and a lot of fun. Because of the larger servos installed I used larger batt to get the Cg right (used 850mah 2s nano), I could fly for 20mins ful throttle :) (no mod as it fits in the orginal hole. Only crit is the tape doesn't stick to the EPP very well.
this thing is Cute. I would advise painting the bottom, as it would be difficult to determine the orientation otherwise. Fully assembled, and a blast to fly. Thank you again Hobby King.

i just received mine, came with the wings joined, cf rods installed, and motor mount. seems very well made and robust. im planning on putting a turnigy c2222 with a 500mah 3c. all i need now is a micro fpv settup. i hope they make a similar combat wing in the 55-60 inche ws range

have now over 30 flights with my bonzai, surprised how despite beeing a light model it handels gusty wind quite well. I get 15 mins agresive flying with my 460 3s lipo, used a 10 gram moter needed to use 460 to balance ...my seconed model will be lighter and use 2s 360 lipo...all in all very happy with the model has impressed my felow club members had to order 3 more for them

Excellent quality and comes 90pcnt built with all hardware. Installed all recommended hardware. It is light yet managed wind well. Flies great and a lot of fun. No mod needed as all parts fits nicely &well built.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Kit & cheap too.
