I currently use a Turnigy 2200kv on my Bixler with the stock speed prop and I love the combination of great speed and long runtime on an 1800mah. How would this work on a Bixler if I use the stock speed prop, would the motor still pull less than the max amps (35)? I usually use the Turnigy Trust 45A, should I use a 55A to be on the safe side with this motor? Thank you!

Esc timing - I have tried a Turnigy Hexfet ESc 25 A on a two cell lipo and the engine starts up in steps - tried to change timing and seems to change some things but is not perfect - can somebody send me the settings of the ESC - start up mode - timing?
 Sawdust 1603 points
Your speed controler is too small for starters.
From the specs:
"Max Current (A) 35 "
You can go bigger with a speed controler but NEVER go smaller.

Been running this in my bixler since spring 2012. 55 amp turnigy esc, 6x5.5apc prop. 2x2200 3cell in paralell. Radared at 112mph by an off duty o.p.p officer! Always fun to fly.
 n00lesd 51 points
112mph? hmm.. hows your wing pn bixler holding?
i know my wings are flexing alot and using 2 carbon rods, going to fit a carbon plate on the wings to make it more stiff.

Can I use a 7x4e prop on 3s? can anyone tell me the theoretical or real consumption with this engine and propeller? thanks
 n00lesd 51 points
i think u can use it whit a 7x4, just made an order of that prop, now i use a 6x4e and nothing is getting hot at al. i dont know what i drain whit the setup but i get a good flight. il see what il get when using a 7x4, alsow going to try a 8x3.8 prop.

Can this lift 1.5kg min?
 mike_o 54 points
Lift 1.5kg what? A kopter? A plane? Which type of plane? What speed will you need? Which size prop? More info, pls. This is a complex question.

What timing for this motor ? High or medium ?
adlers83  295 points - 4/9/2012

Looks like a very good motor but only 405 watts? And not for 4s? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/images/em_c

 Frank_E 4 points
enough force with a 3s battery, also many rpm with this kv rating. Use a proper prop and this baby will flying high.
 adlers83 295 points
I would like to put it on the CS 10 blade Edf on 4s. But 405w is nothing!
 Frank_E 4 points
I think you must have a fandrive with this plane. www.link
4s 3300kv and 810W
 adlers83 295 points
To much Kv! The Amps will be around 150! I need a Motor with 2500-2700kv
 sfactor1 940 points
adlers check out the turnigy l2855 motors in the edf section
 Hosenschisser 39 points
runs with 4s too
Ayrton  2 points - 3/17/2012

how much thrust can it make ?
 Frank_E 4 points
Depends on the prop you mount.
 Ayrton 2 points
Can you suggest a setup ? :D

hey buddy ! i just brought the same motor! awesome power! unlimited verticle ! your gonna love it! i put mine on my HK radjet 800! i use the 6x4 prescision prop by HK ! it comes with six different prop adapters! made to fit any outrunner! the SK3 motor comes with multiple motor mounts! choose which one is best for your pland set up! when choosing your prop adapter make sure its snug but not extremly too tight! you should be able to slip the ring on and off with ease but the ring should not have
 mike_o 54 points
I think 7x6 would be too much load for a 2500kv motor this size. 6x5 sound like max to me. Look at APC or Graupner Speed Electric props. They are of superior quality.

gemoney, u forgot the exclamation point for your last sentence!

How would this motor go in a skyfun jet.
 mad jay 184 points
faster than you could ever imagine,if it wasn't too heavy! SK3's rock hard!!! but try a slightly smaller model.Trust me,my 1350mm wingspan Falcon flying wing only just carries this motor and it took a whole list of mods. to do it! And it's still the fastest thing in my hanger!!!!!
 club17 57 points
mad jay, what kv would you reccomend for my funjet.
 mad jay 184 points
The kv is about right. There is however an incredible Turnigy xp gold coloured motor 2200kv. You will find this is about the right weight for that size project. They realy stomp too!

hi, would this motor be good for upgrading the Hobbyking Bixler EPO 1400mm running with a 6x4 prop off a Hobby King 60A ESC 4A UBEC...?
 mad jay 184 points
Be carefull! This motor will turn your Bixler into an absolute monster. I fitted it to a 1350mm flying wing annd wow!Unlimited vertical and plenty of speed.Little bit on the heavy side though,80grams. But yes I suppose it would be a good upgrade.
 rcwog 13 points
thanks mate. what size ESC did u power it with ?
 rcwog 13 points
Also not sure but the original motor that came with the Hobbyking bixler is 2000kv. This motor is 2500kv will that make a big differences.
 mad jay 184 points
O.k. Firstly,I'm running a 45a Turnigy Trust ESC,2200Mah 30-60c lipo,7x4 poly composite prop. and I am now using Corona 2.2kg torque metal gear servos, the nylon gear ones just stripped! And secondly, this should make a huge difference. These SK3 motors are of a higher level of quality than a lot of motors found at this price range.Don't be fooled by the fact that it's only 500kv higher, this motor rocks. It has stacks of torque and my 1350mm flying wing now does endless vertical.Buy one,I promise you won't be dissapointed!Needs to be seen to be believed. It also comes in a posh box with very usefull sponge insert.Makes real good padding.Any chance you could credit this answer please? Anyways best of luck..

Thanks 4 da creds. Happy trails....
 juanquy 18 points
Same setup but mine sk3 is kinda hot, what about yours?
 mad jay 184 points
does get quite hot at the motor, but i use a little lube in the bearings and it hasn't give me any trouble. Try adjusting the switching frequency and timing,it may help,maybe....lol. But what fun, I've had mine a good six months now and fly in heavy wind, still as good as the day i built it.
  2 points
mad jay do u use 2 or 3s battery?
 mad jay 184 points
I use a 3s 2200mah 30-60c
makeloveinisrael  53 points - 12/11/2011

do you think this motor could be used on an edf ?
 mad jay 184 points
Not quite fast enough. But nearly. I would say No, but have you tried pushprop yet?
 makeloveinisrael 53 points
push what ?
i tried meny motors for an edf
im looking for aquitet and efficiant and relyable 70mm edf
you dont know what i went thru
the bist til now is the 2100kv 900w edf motor
 mad jay 184 points
the turnigy typhoon 3450kv 2814 is good for 4s on a 70mm fan. And i meant pusher prop. I never used to like them, but i have one of these motors on a flying wing and it makes my hands shake it's so quick. There is also now on this site an SK3 duct fan motor. I believe it's 3300kv, this would be a knockout for a 70mm.
 mad jay 184 points
sorry i meant typhoon 2218.You will find it in heli motors. But i seriously would try the 3300 kv SK3 EDF motor. They are top quality!
 adlers83 295 points
Maybe this Motor will work fine with the change sun 10 blade 70mm EDF on 4s. but here it says only 405 watts which is quite little.
BRYAN  7 points - 10/10/2011

Can you please tell me what is the spacing of the attachment holes at the static end of this motor?
 n0tmad 8 points
I would say it is 16mm the shorter distance and 19mm the wider...
 juanquy 18 points
if Max Loading: 35A I can use a 40A ESC with this motor?
 pluto 185 points
Just flown this in my HK Rare Bear with 4S 1300 45c battery and supplied prop. Wow quiet, and blindingly fast even at 1/2 throttle. Probably asking too much of the motor at 4S however.

Woah, this packs some punch. 45amp trust ESC and 7x6 TGS prop. It makes my falcon flying wing flap like a piece of paper at full throttle....... Hmmm, must buy more!

WOW. Awesome power. Using on a Bixler with a 6x5.5 prop. 45A Turnigy ESC. Haven't metered amperage draw yet, but I am sure it is quite high. Bixler will go straight vertical with no problems. 4 Stars on quality only because I have only 4 flights on it. Highly recommend so far.
