Is this the exact Hobbyking Piper J-3 Cub 1.20 Glow 2310mm (PRODUCT ID: Piper J-3 Cub) fuselage with 1.6m wings or another lighter version of that fuz ?

Woops sorry. My mistake Copied/Pasted the wrong one. Is this the exact Super Cub EP 1870mm Balsa/Ply (ARF) (PRODUCT ID: Super Cub) fuselage with 1.6m wings or another lighter version of that fuz ?
 Kellyann 16240 points
plasticbaldy sorry I have looked and looked at the PRODUCT ID: Super Cub. No it is different but it still does not take a GLOW Engine. I hope this helps

So is this a so called ARF. What does that stand for?
 Kellyann 16240 points
Bacter ARF stands for Almost Ready to Fly. It came about when the first factory made models hit the shops. We use to build planes from plans or balsa kits. ARF takes out all the hard work. I hope this Helps

Average at best, received mine with dis-jointed spars in the tail section which required uncovering, re-glueing and then patching up the covering, severely warped rudder, all the critical glue joints in the nose of the plane were barely glue causing the firewall to dislodge before first flight whilst taxi testing...these were unable to be seen during build..landing gear is flimsy and nut from suspension rod snapped off after 5-10 metres of travel on smooth grass. Pathetic Hobby-king PATHETIC...

It's a pity that so much of this plane is brilliant, but so much is disappointing. The undercarriage is a total wast of time, one hard landing and it will self destruct. The weld joints are small and weak. A redesign of a stronger one is in order, or get it welded properly with tubes instead of nuts. The internal structure supporting the landing gear needs beefing up lots. The engine box needs re-gluing on all joints, and the firewall needs bracing and re-gluing. The slots for the tail planes are out of alignment, and the vertical stab wont seat at all. The cowl should be made of glass instead of ABS/plastic. All though this model is designed for mild aerobatics, Think i will mount three servos in the tail, those push rods just seem a bit weak (though well supported), the connectors leave room for improvement, those tail surfaces are big and will need a lot of power to move under load. Having said all that, the plane looks fantastic, the covering is spot on, and some classy alloy wheels wont hurt the look. Overall a 8 out of 10 for this model. Cheers TBBW

A beautifully built model, would'nt a portable laser cutter be an asset to traditional modellers, when you look at how this model is built you realise you could not duplicate it with conventional building techniques.
The only changes I intend to make are replacing a lot of the self taper screws with blind nuts and allen head bolts and strenghening the area that the undercarrage mounts to.
Regards
John

Looks good except for the undercarrage, Will let you down with disasterous results! Throw it away & substitute something else b4 trying to fly. Also had to straighten rudder fins (very twisted on arrival). Other wise looks great. (using a 45X50 motor too with timing on hard).

First flight on the weekend - no dramas to report. Flew out with a couple of clicks of aileron trim. I've fitted mine with an ASP61FS, and reinforced the firewall with ply, as well as fitting fillets to most joints forward of the CoG. I've also fitted a Dubro anti-vibration mount, as the plane is lightly built. Only real gripe is that the tailplane/elevators are clearly made from soft balsa and I can't shrink the warps out of them. It's not too bad, but that's what's causing the need for a little aileron trim to compensate for a warped tail. Could build a new tail I guess. I've set it up with flaperons - causes a little nose down pitch which I'll mix out - but really makes it float. Generally, the model flies in a very unstressed fashion - bit slow on the roll - I will increase throws and differential. Only one flight so far - will report more once I get it fully sorted. Overall, I'm very happy with it - a nice looking, nice flying model - but be aware it's lightly built and really designed for electric.
