Designed for the RAF to replace the Folland Gnat, the BAE Hawk has become one of the most succesful jet training aircraft ever built and is used by many Nations both as a trainer and as a combat aircraft. The Hawk is of course used by the world famous Red Arrows display team and it is undoubtedly one of the prettiest military jets ever built, especially in this fantastic display scheme!
This beautiful Hawk just oozes quality, the deep gloss finish and attention to scale detail is amazing, this level of finish is normally reserved for large scale turbine models and EDF models with a much, much higher price tag, even the scale pilots and cockpit are included. The one peice removable wing is retract ready and features flaps, the glassfibre ducting is well designed & all included, the hardware is also good quality, as you would expect for a model this well made. For the final touch, we have a set of purpose built electric retracts available, which feature sprung scale trailing link leg's and alloy wheels, they are designed to fit straight in with no mod's (NOT included, see related items below).
As well as truly amazing looks, this H-King Hawk is designed for performance, there is tons of canopy space for Lipoly's, a high power 6s set up would be the minimum for jet like performance, 8s would take you into ballistic territory! The Hawk is such a stunning jet to fly, both fast and aerobatic, so we would reccomend High Torque Metal Gear mini servo's all round. This high quality BAE Hawk is one of the best looking and performing 90mm EDF jets available anywhere, a genuine scale, high performance EDF at an affordable price, for jet fans, this Hawk is a must!
Requires: 6 Channel TX/RX 90mm EDF Unit 36mm EDF Motor (6s capable Min) 6~8 Mini High Torque MG Servo's 80A~100A ESC UBEC Retracts 5000mAh 6s Lipoly Battery (Min)
* Does not include fixed landing gear, retracts required. * Please set C of G to 105mm from the leading edge of the wing where it meets the fuselage for the maiden flight and adjust to suit.
See one of these Hawks at our field over the weekend flown by a very experienced Turbine jet flyer. Model was very fast when it did get off but did not like to be operated from our very closely mown grass strip. Nose leg buckled on second flight as model was being steered during take off run. I couldn't believe how heavy the model was, couldn't weigh it at the time but boy there was serious weight there for what is after all, a small model. If you have a long tarmac runway for extended take off and fast landings then you'll be OK, but slowing it up for a grass patch (even one as perfectly manicured as ours) is asking for trouble.
I'd like to order it and insert a Kolibri turbine to it but, as there are obviously so many complaints about damages by shipment I will NOT order it, unless it will be available in the EUROPE WAREHOUSE.
So, will it be available in EUROPE WAREHOUSE?
Guess this season I am going to fly something else...
but maybe next season? Hobbyking?
Hi, Anyone know if the Hawk 90mm is still in production as the UK warehouse has been on back-order for weeks. I am looking at the L-59 as an alternate project if the Hawk does not arrive soon. Any thoughts on the relative merits of these two models?
Does anyone know if the Mercury Alloy 12 Blade 90mm 1900kv EDF Unit (6s) fits in this plane?
here's the link: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem .asp?idproduct=24755
It does.....there is a but....the Hawk ends up very nose heavy if you fit the fan in the usual spot, ideally it needs to be moved quite a way back which is not easy.
The Mercury, not the Turnigy fans, they would be ok, the Mercury is suprisingly light and as it's a pusher rather than a tractor fan, the motor (the only real weight) is forward of the usual location.
Hi interested in getting the hawk. Any ideal when you will have it in the uk warehouse. Or if I order it now will you send it out when it arrives in the uk. regrads Mark
I am reading different posts here whereby in each case the CofG is different. This plane is the same as the CMP T-45 and that says 95mm in the manual. So what is the general consensus on the correct CofG?
Thanks.
That is correct. It does NOT come with any landing gear. Also, the design is intended to use retracts. As compared to some other models, fitting retracts in this one is not too bad.
No doesnt come with any wire or wheel , but all the opening and reinforce for the bae hawk retract is there ready for drop in .Look under bae hawk retract ,you,ll find them here .DONT fly with fixed L.G it gone look like a Donut .
Does HK plan to sell these jets as PNP too(all over Europe they started to sell the T-45 and BAE Hawk as PNP for about 500 Euros)? I am sure not only me would be very interested (and those that prefer to buy this ARF ersion feel free to do so, we know the disadvantages and are nevertheless interested... thank you). Thank you in advance!!!
The set up of motor and esc , is very straight forward on this plane as it comes with most former and bullkets are install ,set to take a 90or92mm fan like CS 12 blade .And you save tones it,s easy do it your self things .
I think PNP Composite jets are a contradiction in terms, everybody has different idea's about power trains and servo choice will almost certainly not suit everybody....and it still has to be built....comp jets don't just bolt together and they never will.
If your model arrives with any dammage be prepared for an indefinate wait for the replacements! It's not that HK don't want to help, they can't! they are at the mercy of thair suppliersI have been waiting for a replacement wing since the 4th of Feb, that's 8 long frustrating weeks!!
Does anyone have any idea what the top speed you could get out of this plane would be. Very interested in knowing. Also what do you think hobbykings fastest jet is. Why doesn't hobbyking sell real turbines? that would be so cool!
Tartago, apologies, I initially thought you were original owner of the Video - but thanks for posting it anyway. Do you have the model yourself? The forum advice seemed to indicate a 6S setup as the 8S might be too heavy or too short a flight time. If this model is 6S I am so impressed with the performance. Would like to see a video somewhere that shows a prpoe landing with full falp. I'm an experienced modeller/flier but just a bit concerned I would struggle to land reliably on our short grass strip.
Must say i am mighty impressed with the quality of the fusalage - and still fairly light. If anyone is interested I will post my build and flying experiences on this forum.
Cheer for now.
get the landing gear they have here in HK item # BAE-HSRTUT they fit perfectly on this plane. also the recommended servos from guys have this plane is D-MG16 Metal Gear 2.9kg/.08sec/18.8g. for fan and motor setup you require at least 1600w on 6S as mentioned above.
that's unlucky rockr, alot of guys have received their kit it perfect condition. it might be the post that messed up your kit. you should of checked the package before accepting the package.
my kit came with the clevises and horns. It seems they misplaced my pushrods. but the 1.5mm pushrods seems week for this size jet. I'm planning to put 2mm pushrods and clevis on the plan
the airframe weight with all the pieces supplied without landing gear or electronics is 1,650kg so you can calculate how heavy the p-20 will be on this airframe ready to fly
collected mine two days ago after an excutiatingly long back order and CNY wait, despite being packed well and double boxed my wing was broken (pics in files tab)the way the wing is placed in the box makes it very vulnarable, even the box showed no signs of dammage, such a shame!!.....who knows now how long it will take cs to sort this out and when i'll get another wing? meanwhile i have almost $500 tied up in this project since 4/12/2011 i know hk not to blame for any damage that happens during transit but prompt cs is a must when customers are showing thair loyalty and good faith toward hk!? come on Hobbyking CS, it really is so frustrating and detracts from the whole experiance!
eye,
im sorry to hear about what happened to your hawk, would there be any way you can fix the wing? your right about the position of the wing in the box. Im glad i received my Hawk a week ago and it was in perfect condition good luck with the CS. but i have to say HK's service has improved over the last few months.
hey boostoman, yeh you were lucky! i'm surprised i havent read mor reports/comment from people with dammaged wings!?
if you look in the files tab you can see the dammage, i have been building planes for some 20years odd so repair would not be a problem, however geting the covering right would, its not available here.
They really need to beef up the box and packing with the hawk.. Mine was crushed from all sides but by some miracle everything was intact, got really lucky.. Its just a waste of time and money that could be avoided with a bit of extra effort
well HK have basicly said that i am at the mercy of thair supplier because as HK say, "THEY ARE NOT ORDERING A WHOLE SET,JUST A PART"! I am angry and frustrated like no one can imagine!!
4th Febuary i received this kitand HK have been f....ng me arround ever since! very politely mind you!
Kalps, Y-cable, and elevator on RX is ok, then reverse ONE only of your servos, job easy if using MG14, unscrew bottom of servo, swap around outside wires on pot and motor connections reverses motor, travel will be the same for both servos.
Kalps wow Kewood is very hand on. Nice way to reverse a servo COOL. But HK does sell a servo reverser for a few dollars. But most of us just contact it to channel 6 (Yes you need spare channels) and just mix and reverse. I hope this helps. You may have up tp 8 servos to fit.
Hi guys, I' using two MatchBox, for elevator and flaps, easy to match servo travel and reverse any servo

I received my Kit in Sydney Australia. The plane looks great and the glass on the fuse is fantastic with the colour and details. The wing is not glass.... Film covered balsa construction.. still looks good and cuts the weight down. The ducting looks good and well thought out. On further inspection. I have no wheel wells, no fixed gear, no gear doors and no drop tank as previously advertised in the www.link I contacted customer service and they gave me the standard run around about weight of box, shipping slip, photos...etc.. then if its not in the pictures then its not supplied!!!! ... what can I say...How can I get at least the wheel wells so I can cut for retracts!!!... will contiue review in the future.

hi to all
I saw the comments on the video presentation of this model, it is clear that there is a mistake. This jet is actually manufactured by an OEM chinapro 09 view more here www.link download the manual and you will see that it does not come with wheel wells, fixed landing gear, doors and drop tank. This jet has the same quality of CMP ghosthawk the two companies have the same owner.
I hope I have helped

At last I received my unit this morning.
This jet is awesome. Th paint is outstanding, very fine crasftmanship.
The setback is that the components are not complete if we will base it on the YouTube video of Scott.
Wheels, drop tank, wheel wells are missing.
I only bought this product based on the explanation of Scott.
I'm very disappointed with HK. Im looking for any legal way so that the Customers got what they are expecting. HObbyking is misleading thei Customer.
If you will notice, they already remove the YouTube video of Scott and they added (just recently) comments that these items are not included.
I demand that these items be provided to those customers who already received and ordered their product.
It's a good thi that I have saved the YouTube video as evidence.
HK don't do this to us your loyal and Platinum members.

I first saw this paint scheme at a place called 'fraggle rock'... which is at the end of the runway at RAF Valley, in Angelssey where this aircraft lives. In real life she is as beautiful as this model and as such she is on my wish list. The retracts appear to be an issue and I would hope that by the time I come to want to buy one this is resolved. The question i do have is aimed at anyone who actually owns this model... How is the elevator configured? Is it the whole of the horizontal stabiliser or the standard trailing edge as the pictures dont rightly make this clear..
