OK, I've been reading up on LiPo vs LiFePO4 vs A123 and it looks like the latter two are the answer to everything. The battery on this page is listed under the LiFePO4 catgegory but on the wrapper in the picture above it just shows LiFe. What's with that? These are two different technologies entirely right? And also, my iMAX charger can do both LiFe or LiPo but there's no menu category for LiFePO4. So what charger is required? I haven't found anything in HK's line up that specifies it does LiFePO4. Would appreciate any pearls of wisdom from the electro-techs. Ah, nitro was sooooo much simpler.

interesting voltage...what would one use this pack for??

They are used anywhere a 3s lipo is used. yes the voltage is less but the battery is capable of discharging and charging much faster, so you increase the size of the prop to get the speed back that you would get from a lipo, and enjoy fast recharge times on the field like 10-15 min, and they don't burst into flames or smoke, better crash resiliance as well.

So far so good. I'm saying that because being averse to all the idiosyncrasies of LiPo's I'm keen on LiFe's and willing to give these a try. They fit better into models than the cylindrical A123's, plus - no fire risks/ faster recharge,so you don't need as many/no low discharge problem/much longer cycle life. I'm living with the slightly less V, but that's well worth all the advantages.

No, they haven't proved much good. Always properly charged & balanced on a Cellpro 10, but now have already low capacity after not much use. If they can get the quality up to A123 standard they would be a good seller because of the variety of pack shapes they could be made in. Regrettfully I am going back to LiPos
