The Hobbyking ASK21 became a firm favorite with the test team during development, it is fast enough with well balanced control surfaces for some aerobatic flying, yet easy enough to fly that a relative beginner can enjoy this superb model.
Plug and Fly of course means all the hard work is done for you, the low kv motor and large prop combo offers plenty of thrust for relatively low amp draw, when tested, we found this combo to be very efficient, so a good climb rate and good flight times are assured. The pre-fitted 9g servos are all per-centred are ready to go, and with no glue required at any point during assembly, you will find that you can be enjoying this quality 2 meter glider in no time.
Construction is from a nicely finished, glossy and of course tough EPO, the large landing wheel adds to the practicality and will help to keep this superb looking glider shiny and new for years to come. The wing joiner and dihedral brace are super strong, and well designed for easy field assembly, the wing is re-enforced and very stiff, this is 2 meter glider is a joy to fly and is a great choice for both the in-experienced and experienced RC pilot.
Tim above is a tab called FILES. If you click on it you can down load and up load files. The only file there is the manual. You can down load it free of charge. I is only 2meg. I think Hobby King should put a bunch of manual on Mini Cd and send with KITS.

just got this a few days ago and have finished putting it together but i'm yet to power it up. Looks very good so far. Wings are strong and have a lot of reinforcing. The fuselage is also very rigid right down the the tail. The only problem i can see is the mount for the horizontal stabilizer was not glued in perfectly straight, but i'm not sure if ill bother fixing this or not. Weighs in at about 900gm without the battery, which will add another 180gm for the 2200mah i will use. The wings are fairly easy to assemble and disassemble. You just need a screwdriver handy. I will post after the maiden

Got mine today. Not too bad except the bolts that are in the fuselage is chock full of glue so it's impossible to bolt anything down until you spend some time cleaning them out. Spend time trimming the fus to fit the recommended 2200mah battery. The horizontal stab moves around a bit so you're better off epoxing it in place. You'll need a couple of hours at least to get it to a satisfactory flying condition. With a turnigy 3S 2200mah, the peak power is measured at 226.9 watts. Came with a couple of lead for balance but not required if you plan your battery placement. Other than that, it looks good and should perform well.

i now have a couple of flights on it but it hasn't been easy working the kinks out of this plane. I cant stress enough how important it is to give these RTF models a very very close inspection all over, and pull everything apart to inspect and loctite. You're almost better off just buying the kit version and building it properly. The horizontal stab either needs gluing or beefing up the mount for it. Mine was only held on buy a tiny little plastic washer that was glued onto the horiz. stab mount (NOWHERE near as beefy as it looks), which luckily just fell off while i was working on it. I'm amazed it lasted even 1 flight, but without having built it from scratch there was no way of knowing there was such a weak spot there. It would have been the end of this plane if it fell off in flight. The canopy blew off on me on the 3rd flight (see attatched video), which meant the battery came loose. Luckily i got it back on the ground ok, with only a broken prop and bent motor shaft. I have now beefed up the canopy a bit with some carbon rod to stiffen up the foam retention tabs, and some velcro on the front to help it stay in. And i'll use a rubber band next time just incase. Hopefully there wont be any more nasty suprises with this plane. Apart from all this it flies great. Balances perfectly with the ESC directly behind the motor and a 2200mah 3s behind that. In only light winds and no

Just got back from the maiden and i can say it wasn't an easy road to this point but well worth it. The model arrived with the rudder control surface broken off, this might bother the true PNP pilot but i enjoyed putting in some pinned hinges to make the movement more free. It concerns me when a model shows up with a couple of steel weights to get CG right, so on that note, next was battery placement I can see where it's meant to go but the CG is way off, and i refuse to put dead weight in a glider especially when you have a battery to move around. I ended up cutting out the foam brace in the cockpit area, shortening ESC wires and have the battery and ESC side by side not far behind motor. Had to cut a hole in front bottom section of canopy to allow room for battery. Receiver is back under wing where battery is meant to be. I threw the heavy ally dihedral brace and cut a CF heavy wall tube about 350mm,this saved 60gms. Peeled all the stickers off saving 16gms from memory (sorry HK). Glued the aileron wires and servos in with a few dabs of CA... My elevator was on straight and square and strong. Did a bit of a paint scheme and here we are. Weighs in with 1600 3s turnigy at 909gms. Flying this model definitely makes up for the initial headaches, love it and look forward to many thermals....

Just a further note, I can see why people have had trouble with motor and ESC burning out. This is related to heat rather than faulty components, there is no airflow through the cockpit area and with ESC, motor and battery all in this small area with no airflow is a failure waiting to happen. Don't fly this glider as a powered plane ie: power on all flight, the components will fail, I carefully cut away the landing wheel and cut a opening in the front of this area through to the cockpit area. This mod alone keeps the battery at an acceptable temp.
