A genuine 3D capable Micro? You better believe it! The Durafly Edge 540 V3 has a spec sheet that is hard to beat, 2s power, real servos and a brushless motor put it head and shoulders above the rest!
The lightweight construction of this model, coupled with large control surfaces make it a brilliant 3D micro. Many models of this size are often limited by linear servos or cheap components, but not the Edge! featuring pre-installed, fully proportional HK-5320 Digital servos, a Turnigy ESC and an NTM-3000kvbrushless motor The build quality is just fantastic. Fully hinged ailerons are another example of why the slick stands out from the crowd. This is a fast model to put together, the motor and ESC are pre-installed, leaving you to glue on the wing and cowl then go and fly!
Performance is of course what 3D models are all about and this Edge is no slouch! Power is delivered courtesy of the powerful Turnigy Brushless motor running on 2s, for reliability a Turnigy ESC is pre-fitted and the servo/ESC connectors are all compatible with the 4 Channel Orange Micro RX (R415). This model might be cheap to put in the air, but make no mistake, this is one seriously capable 3D Micro, just make sure you take a handful of Lipoly batteries with you when you go and fly, hovering this Edge 540 V3 round the basketball court gets addictive!
Can someone please help me. I just received this plane but the throttle doesn't seem to be working, when i push up or down on the throttle stick the elevator is the one moving. When i push the right stick up and down the ailerons move and pushing the right stick left and right does nothing. The only thing working properly is the rudder.
Pleeeeeease help!!!!!
I just got mine and I have to say, Im quite impressed with the build. The foam looks like EPO, but I'm not really sure. The paint is fantastic, although there are a few mishaps with the packaging. As usual the wingtips were snapped off, but you can easily fix it. Ill post a full review as soon as I get it flying. So far, the quality and looks are good.
got the reciver for this plane, and it will not bind... i have a hk transmitter 4ch from a bixler v 1.1 will this transmitter work or not. if not, what do i need??
My motor burnt out on bench test using the standard 2 cell battery. I cannot believe a matched motor, ESC, and prop can burn the motor.
Replacement motor at $15 plus shipping make this no value compared to other PNF that have gyros (this model has no gyro)
Sorry to hear about your problem, however, it isn't a design flaw, a faulty motor is simply the most likely explanation, please contact CS for a replacement.
Hi,
my question: how can it work out with OrangeRx R415 4 Ch ???
This plane has two aileron servos Elevator Ruder Throttle and R415 just 4x Molex 3 Pin connectors!
Is there a reverse module built in with one input and two output connector, so that both aileron Servos can be used in reverse with one connector?
Regards
The aileron servos are hooked up via a Y-cable (included), so you only need 1 plug on the receiver for them. The way they are built-in they already work in opposite direction, no need to invert.
The only think stopping me from buying this is hearing the reviews about the ****** shipping . I read in RCG that these guys keep sending broken wing tips, smashed fuses, broken wings. Can anyone tell me their experience about that?
If you are carefull, you can take the case off of the Rx, and mount the board out of harm's way. I think the servos that this plane has use the smaller molex connectors, not the standard futaba type plugs that the orange receivers use. Might need to get creative.
The recommended RX is the "OrangeRx R415" which has the right micro molex connecters, if you wanted to use your 6ch orangerx you will need converter plugs or to change the plugs on the servos and esc. It might also mess with the weighting. I would advise going with the recommended RX for best results.
Thank you, I have some exerience with a plane similar to the bixler and the AXN floater, its called fms easy 800. The reason im looking to use that Transmitter is because I'm 13 years old so I cant afford a cool Futaba or Jr. Altough I'm looking to buy a turingy 9x and a bixler and Fatshark gear to start with FPV. Thank you very much for your quick response and for your time. It was really helpful. I also ordered the yellow hobbyking yak 54. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__14887__Ho bbyKing_YAK_54_Brushless_EPO_Plug_n_Fly_USA_Warehous e_.html
Yes it will! However this plane is definatley not a beginner plane! If you are a beginner you should start with a Hobbyking Bixler or AXN Floater ... both here available at hobbyking.
I have a bixler RTF and lots of questions.
1. Is the edge a good next step skill wise? I am flying with the control horns maxed out on bixler.
2. Can I use my bixler Rx and tx in it? Or are the pins incorrect for the Rx?
3. Will the charger that came with the bixler handle the battery needed for this plane?
4. Would the rare bear be a better option? Sweeter at slow speed to allow some getting used to.
If you are totally comfortable with your Bixler this should be doable for you. As for your RX, it is not right. However HK has a compatable unit for your TX and this plane. It is part # R415.
I flew this and after flying my umx beast I was a bit disappointed. Ripped the rx out and installed it in the 35mm edf hawk ( which is a blast on 3 cell). Anyway long and the short I am flying the beast on 3 cell now and it is crazy powerful. Just feel this would really benefit>> But would the esc handle it stock? Lovely looking plane and would love to get the best out of it. I want to resurrect it!!!
Hi just getting into planes. I bought Durafly Edge 540 V3 Micro 3D 490mm it is very small and needs this Receiver 4 Channel Orange Micro RX (R415). I also have this transmitter Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter w/ Module & 8ch Receiver (Mode 1) (v2 Firmware) will they work together or will I need another transmitter, an if so what one for the least price?
I have the same edge and 9x.you need the r415.you should get a sin and play on that 1st this isn't a beginner plane, its nose heavy so it doesn't like to hover too easy...once you get the hang of it though its a fun plain.I changed my servo to more response metal ones .have fun
im a complete noobie to mixing and matching setups, im confident i have the right RX/TX and female micro molex extenders but not sure about what battery to go with it, anyone?
I have the nono tech 180 mah 2s 25-40c it also has the matching little red connector it fits perfect and goes really well with plenty of power. You can go with out her similar size in zippy brand they are a little bit cheaper but at only 5$ for the best grab yourself 4 or 5 of them believe if you don't you will wish you had more at the field. Awesome little plane just remember to dial in plenty of expo as a beginner about 30- 40pcnt as these little planes a very touchy. Then once you have the feel
Thanks heaps! that really helps :) Reckon you could also direct me to a charger? and do they come with wall adapters? really not sure what to get cause I've just been using nine eagles and they charge straight from the TX so this is all new to me
go with somethig like the turnigy accucel-6 50 watt charger, good price & in many warehouses around the world im in AU so good freight rates. it is a balance charger and can charger multiple type of battery and differant sizes and amp settings it can also put you batteyr at storage voltage which is good as you should npot leave then discharged or fully charged unless you intend to use them in the next couple of days, it will prolong the life of the battery.it will keep you out of trouble and see you into this hobby for some time until you get hooked on the bigger stuf. you can charge each battery one at a time or get a balance board and charge multiple at once, i went & grabbed a 4mm Banana plug to 6 x Female JST Connectors in parallel charge lead. i charge all 6 of my battery in one hit but every 3rd chgarge i do individually as a balance charge as this lead is not for balancing the two cells to the same votage it just fast charges the battery to the 7.4volt but you do use it at a balance charge and the balance charge plug aswell. if in doubt do some reseach on lipo balance charging lipo charging. Have fun.
can you give the battery pn you are using the 180ma nano tech in Hobbyking does not have a red matching 2 pin connector for the Edge 540, it has a mini 3 pin connector how do you connect this to the 2 pin JST on 540
I'm about to try fit in the Turnigy nano-tech 300mah 2S 35~70C Lipo Pack i think it will fit if anything may need to make a little modification to hold it in with something sticky as they are narrower but longer. other thing to watch for now is the CG will be nose heavy. i have altered mine also adding in a Hobbyeagle A3, 3 way gyro. also swapped out the motor for a f1818 2500kv my CG is good on 180mah . more weight but more power and greater stability for this little plane is affected with wind
I am just curious to know how does this plane handle on slow speeds. I bought this many months ago but haven't even taken it out of the box yet. As usual, the tail is broken and the wing tips are cracked. From the wingspan and the size of motor esc, I wonder if this plane has high wing loading. I Intend to add a larger battery and reveiver, so wing loading is a concern. I want to have views of the people who have flown it on its wing loading and stall speeds.
ive had this plane and now its gone, to be honest mate its not the best. and dosent fly slow very well. and dosent 3d at all. hope you have a better run with it than me..
What if you remove the plastic casing of the Turnigy 9X receiver, and solder the wires on instead of using those plugs? Will that fit?
Don't care too much about the additional weight of the receiver, as long as it fits...

1 thumbs up!
Ok I was really excited to receive this kit but felt its over priced with the quality. First of all, the tips on both side of wings are damaged on arrival. Secondly, the shaft of the motor is bent causing a lot of vibration. Thirdly, the motor is extremely hot so I doubt it is the right motor for the prop. And lastly, the servo connectors does not fit AR6300 micro receiver.
On the upside, yes it is a very beautiful micro plane.
I use Rhino 360mah 2S for this plane it fits well.

1 thumbs up!
I purchased the Edge as an alternative to some of the more expensive ones out there. It arrived safely packed with only a small crease in one of the wings. I purchased the recommended Orange Rx Spektrum compatible micro receiver which works great. Be careful that you purchase a battery that has the right connectors on it though! Assembly of the Edge was straight forward enough despite the instructions which were somewhat unclear. Some rubber cement type glue is included with the plane and I chose to use it for assembly as intended by Durafly and my need for authenticity. The ESC was loose and only hooked up to the motor so you will need to find a place to mount that and the Orange RX that will allow proper balance of the Edge. Each control surface has its own servo which is nice! I was careful to make sure that the plane was assembled correctly and balanced out okay. The plane has PLENTY of power for the micro brushless motor and 2S Lipo and tracks well. Unfortunately, I am not happy with the wing design of the plane which allows for sudden tip-stalls while flying. The plane gives the appearance of slow, controlled flight with less than 1/2 throttle and then it will all of the sudden tip-stall and drop a foot or two. Recovery to stable forward flight often results in uncontrolled right and left rolls until it starts flying again. My friends that have purchased the other micro,

Well I am not a "3D" pilot but have flown and own 30 planes and many, many micros.
I don't think this has enough power for 3D. Second, after having a minor nose in landing the motor shaft is bent. That's after 2 flights and there is no damage to any part of the plane (other than the motor shaft) Third it is very noisy. Of course I expect some noise but not like it was. Oh and it came damaged as many do according to RcGroups. I tried to get a replacement wing but customer service is not as servicable as it could be.
So in my humble opinion spend your hobby $$ elsewhere.
It does look cool though.

J'ai reçu le mien aujourd’hui!
WOW l'avion semble vraiment solide.
