F-86 The Huff EDF Jet 70mm Electric Retracts, Flaps, Airbrake, EPO (PNF) (USA Warehouse)
A true cold war warrior, the F-86 Sabre found fame in the 1950s Korean conflict, it is a genuine classic with good reason, and this superb EPO Plug N Fly model really does this amazing aircraft justice.
Being PNF it is a fast build, the powerful EDF unit/ESC combo is pre-installed as are all the servos. This model is a good size and needs a 4s Lipoly to achieve the kind of performance you are looking for, also for a nice change in this class, the Lipoly compartment has been designed to take a large pack for decent flight times.
As well as being a superb looking and performing model, this Sabre is packed with features such as pre-installed electric retracts, optional drop tanks, flaps are again pre-installed as are the airbrakes which you can either set up on a seperate channel or connect to extend with your flaps, in fact this tough EPO jet only needs one thing......a Mig 15 from this new range of cold war classics to dogfight with!
Very impressed with delivery from US warehouse! One week order to door step delivery! Arrived in double boxing and in perfect condition. This is my first purchase of an Aircraft from Hobby King... have placed many electronic orders from International warehouse and had to wait the ordinady 15 to 30 days for delivery but this USA warehouse deal is BRILLIANT! This is also my first EDF so it will be a challenge but I have high hopes for success! Regards Paul
This is a great first EDF...the instructions aren't great though. Go to RCGroups**** come and find the thread for this plane called "EJF**** "Venom rc" 70mm F-86 mod". Great info and is free to join. Russ
Yes, it's a Starmax plane that carries MANY rebrandings...Venom is one. Servos were okay. The landing gear is great EXCEPT that every one that I've seen personally (about three) and many others that I've read about ... the wooden blocks holding the retracts come unglued after just a few flights. Take the time to glue them in well from the start even if you have to pry them out.
RGS2010, sounds good.... i also heard this is underpowered...can you recommend a good upgrade fan/motor...i want to stick with my 30c 3000 4s packs if possible...thax for the info
Yes a Cyclone Power 480 4S motor with Cyclone Power 10 blade fan. It gives great low end punch. I used Zippy 40C 4S-4000 lipos and it was perfect fit...well I had to sand down just a bit to get it to fit perfectly but only took a few minutes.
Cyclone power 480 and cyclone fan...does it come in motor fan combo or are they separate...whats the kv of the motor around 2500kv? also can i find these here at HK? and lastly was top speed about same as stock which i have heard is 75mph on 4s? sorry for all the questions i just want to make sure i make correct order..thax for the help
I bought separately at the castle place that sells rc *) It was faster but not terribly so. This is a big chunk of foam and is not going to go very fast. Also the kv of the motor was 3300. Another good option is Cyclone IR550-2800kv-40 (inrunner) with same fan. It is a 4S/5S setup and I have two in different jets and that's what I would use now but only with 5S.
I have a stock vampire 70mm fan and a new hercules(bought here at HK a few months ago) 2839-2800kv which should be decent on 4s...I can't see if the f-86 fan is decent quality and balanced why someone could just put a higher watt higher kv motor and run on 4s...i will figure out what to do...thax again
I justed read reviews on the hercules 2800kv motor i have...it is really like 3200kv a works great with 5 and 6 blade 70mm fans on 4s...not sure how many blade this stock f-86 has,but HK sells a great fan according to many reviews for only $6. that is perfect fit for hercules 2839-2800...
well i just got it today and well i did some test and i think the motor is weak i have a eflite delta 15v which gives 2400g of thrust.... do you think this would work for hand launch???
I have the Desert Rats version that I purchased from one of the other online RC sale companies. And YES the ESC and motor are seriously lacking. Ive played with a variety of motor and ECS combonations. I have used the Eflite Delta 15v EDF unit and 3200KV motor with the Eflite 60A ESC and it flies it very well. But Ive found that the HOT set up is with the Change Sun EDF unit and the Eflite 3600kv motor with a 100A speed control. It sounds fantastic and is a little faster than the Eflite set up.
1 with 10 blade and E-Flite 3600kv. It WAS quicker and more powerful but the speed was virtually the same I think. Sounded better too! An E-flite 3600 or 3200kv and a HET 6904 fan would do well too.
I have a 70 mm vampire with a chansun 10 blade and 2300kv which performs fantastic on 5s...i was wondering if this same fan motor combo would be good with this f-86?
bryant, when you say a hot setup using a changesun and eflight 3600kv with 100 amp esc...How many blade changesun? the more blades the more power is needed...i am guessing you are saying a 6 blade CS fan...
Since this post is kinda old youve probably figured out your CG already. I dont recall off the top of my head exactly what it is. But a good rule of thumb is install your battery pack and canopy. With the aircraft on the ground tip it back on its tail. It should slowly come back on its own to rest on the nose gear. I have found that mine flies very well using this method and it is only just a little nose heavy. Using this method you may have to play with moving the battery pack fwd or back a little to get you what you want.
No, that is EPS. EPO is the more pliable crash resistant (if there is such a thing) foam. EPO is SIMILAR to what you would find on Parkzone and Multiplex models.
And if and when you do crash, collect all the little pieces too, becasue EPO fits back together like a puzzle and can be Foam Safe glued back together very near to the original specs of the craft.Use a Med.heat to reshape also. Did this on the EPO F-4,neat stuff EPO....
Guys all the reviews say this is a great plane but not very fast? Anyone recommend a fast setup for this plane?

Outstanding airplane. So packed full of features it's hard to believe they sell it for this price - and it flies even better than it looks. Stock setup calls for 4S batteries, but the low (for EDF) kv of the motor will work fine on 5S, altho the 45a. ESC will need replacing with 60a. or better. This plane flies like it's on rails! Not the fastest EDF, but it sure is one of the nicest handling, best looking jets in the air.
Now, HK, I sure hope you plan on having parts for it so we can modify without fears of new parts!

Hi all! I'm excited to say I'd give this plane six crowns. Shipped in eight days including holiday from US warehouse to my door step clean no transportation rash. I was able to complete it in four short hours. All features easy to connect needed three extension of three inches to finish job everything else came in the box. One issue. Two reversing servos for flap and ailerons were match to the wrong side. Had to remove and install them so the surfces moved appropriately

My wife bought me this plane about a month ago. It is a fabulous looking plane. It arrived in great shape. I put it together per the skimpy instructions but relied heavily on RCGroups.com for assistance. I had particular trouble realizing that all of the wires from the wing (aileron & flaps) had to pass through on one side of the plane and there is a piece of foam that is easily taken out to accommodate this task. But it's not readily referred to in the instructions. After that was done the plane went together easily in about 5 hours total...taking it slow. I used a 25C 4S-3300 NanoTech battery and Futaba 7 channel radio gear. I maidened on a blacktop runway. On the day, I readied the plane and started quickly down the runway when it hit a small patch of gravel which folded the nose wheel and threw a rock in the fan and disintegrated it. I didn't have a backup fan so I just installed completely new E-Flite Delta V15 3600kv motor and fan in there 'cos local hobby shop had one in stock. I had to fix nose wheel servo and put in metal trunion and then it was ready to go again. This time it took off with authority and was easy to trim. It took several clicks of left trim but then it flew nicely. The flaps, speed brakes, and landing gear worked fine. It's no speed demon but has plenty of punch and has a great presence in the air. It's my new favorite plane. I downgraded one crown jus

This is a great EDF. Not very fast but it does take off and land easily on grass. Arrived in perfect condtion. Only exception was that tail servo was dead on arrival. I had a spare. I use a 3000 mah 30c 4s with stock set up and I am happy with the way it flies overall. I get about 3 min of flight wot. Please check out the video as well.
