Anyone have a suggestion of suitable 3blade prop for this ac to run with the DST-1200 upgrade? Thanks in advance.

I would like to upgrade the motor etc in my PC-9. Would the "NTM Prop Drive 28-36 1800KV / 438W" be suitable. I will be using a 6x4 prop with 3S LiPo. I understand the ESC will also need to be upgraded but my question is specifically for the motor.

Prop Tests:
6x4 - 11.1v - 182W - 16.4A

Copper you can find them under Hardware & accessories. > Decal Sheets. These look good "" Scale National Air Force Insignia Decal Sheet - Australia"" I hope this helps. and thanks KaosKane

Has anyone done a motor upgrade on this ac? I flew it for about 10mins and got super bored. I've just ordered a 1200kv motor with sports prop but i am not sure how much more power i will get out of it.
 SLEPT 5 points
Upgrade done. Turnigy DST-1200 Bell motor 1200KV, with JXF sports prop 9x5 /229x127. So much more power. Standard ECS can be used!. Very easy upgrade guys. I recommend this as a minimum upgrade. The A/C is far too slow running on stock setup.

Same here... I added a DST-1200 (a couple of grub screws to replace) and now run the 9x7 prop. It rocks!!!

Where can I find this motor guys? Have just ordered this plane and might as well upgrade before maiden flight

how did you remove the old motor guys? did you cut the model open? can't find a way to access the engine mounts without doing this..
 SLEPT 5 points
Hey Nico.
If i can remember im pretty sure you can poke an allan key into the top of the a/c nose and hit a little allan key nut that hold the engine to the mount. I cant quite remember but i think there was a little dimple in the sticker on the top side of the nose which i poked through and hit the nut.

Look for a sneaky little hole around that area. I cant remember the exact location but its there somewhere. Either top or bottom. Sorry i cant help more but my plane is long gone.

Hk now have an RAAF sticker pack perfect for making this an RAAF plane *}
 Kellyann 16223 points
KaosKane many thanks. Much better to have Australia (RAAF) decals. I passed that onto Cooper too I hope you do not mind!!!
ThatGuy  9 points - 5/13/2012

Can this thing take a 2200mah 3s?
 Kellyann 16223 points
ThatGuy I cannot believe it is a foamy. That battery. Bigger is not always better. The setup can handle it but it will not fit. And the extra weight would be counter productive. Sorry you will need to buy some new batteries. Thanks for the chat.

Just received mine today. Everything well packed but no instructions for assembly. Did anyone get instructions, there is nothing in the files section?
 Dingo24 17 points
No instructions... but it was my first plan and I managed to figure it out.

Hey Hobby King
How about a 60 inch span version with retracts and in roulette colours? Bet a lot of flyers out there would agree.
 Kellyann 16223 points
PC9hk yes but bigger is not always better. You guys always want to go bigger. Us girls are happy with a good stile and a great finish. This is a fine foamy and it flies so so smooth. I hope this helps
 lobstermash 266 points
Kellyann, I'd hate to be the one paying off your credit card! I can't think of a plane on the website I haven't seen you have an intimate knowledge of! Keep up the good work.
DelSt  112 points - 1/31/2012

So this model looks too fine to be a foamy but if it is what type please?
 Kellyann 16223 points
DelSt yes it is a FOAMY. In the listing it clearly says EPO foam. Sorry if I am a bit preachy and I hope this helps.

Oops I did not see that thanks.

No instructions come with this model, the only real info you require is CoG. I will post my suggestions after first flight.
 Kellyann 16223 points
PC9hk thanks for that. It is nice to know.

Just purchased this as a Christmas present arrived 23rd double boxed. Fuselage is held secure by velcro strap- nice touch. Overall quality is excellent it seems to be the same diamensions as the Ultra Fly PC-9 available many years ago but better foam this time. Will post flight test results shortly.

This model is fantastic. It flies as good as the Ultra fly version, handled 30 kmph winds easily albeit very bumpy but easily handled. Set the CG at 48mm to start and you will be rewarded with excellant flying. Model was set up stock standard with 1300mah 3S back, be warned however that the battery pack needs some extra form of secruity to prevent it falling out when inverted. Can't say a bad word about its flight handling, its a joy to fly.

Went together nicely... Ran servo leads to rx in cavity where the wing sits which allowed a bit more space under canopy for lipo.... Used supplied velcro to fasten battery.. Beefed up wing attachment nuts with some ply as per PC9HK advice.. Maiden flight went well considering there was blustery southerly. The small wheels don't allow takeoff from longish grass, but it's light enough to chuck... Very stable on final with no hint of tip stall. Nice amount of power without being a rocket. Wished it was in the RAAF Roulette colours...

Further to my earlier comments, you can fly this plane if the canopy pops open...;-)

I've also added some white painted tips to the top of the wing tips and stabiliser... the dark colour is nice but is difficult to pick when flying...

Had this shipped extremely quickly, and I was astounded at the quality of the packaging. Excellent work HobbyKing! Double boxed, fuselage held into the box with velcro straps, airbags throughout, and the batteries I ordered with it separately packaged and attached away from any of the model. In fact, I'd say the packaging quality was worlds above a recent SebArt ARF model I purchased, costing many times more. The model itself is of a high quality, well, worth the money. Can't wait to set it up for a weekend flight.
