Speedy composite EP Performance Glider 1600mm (ARF) (AUS Warehouse)
The Speedy is built for....you guessed it....speed! The nicely made composite fuselage has a deep gloss finish with ply servo and battery trays pre-fitted, the removable 1 pc wing is balsa construction as is the horizontal stabilizer & elevator.
The simplicity of this model, combined with the high level of pre-fabrication means that the Speedy is a quick build, fitting the power train will really be the most involved part of the assembly. The Speedy is also in-expensive to build, requiring only 3 servos and running on a common 2200mAh 3s Lipoly (not included).
With the right motor, the speedy will provide hours of high speed fun, being composite/balsa it should also last for years to come and it wont have cost you an arm and a leg! Practical and inexpensive are not words often associated with high performance models, the Speedy is the exception to the rule!
come on hobby king , its time to change the discription. this is a 2 piece wing always was and always will be . fix the wording.. its a great plane anyway
This should suit a 9g servo for each aileron, i have a friend with one of these and he had some trouble puting it in but he said you have to sand it back a bit. he said it took a while but it was worth it. i have seen it fly very well
GL-Speedy and this one. Very similar, size, specs, ... This one is simpler (one part wing), but although is cheaper package weight is bigger so at the and they cost the same ( almost). Here they recommend inrunner ( more expensive) on GL 28 size brushless, here standard servos (cheap) GL slim (expensive). This is actually flyfly model ( package in nice box with picture). I choose this one over GL because of simple wing mounting.
thanks for telling it is FlyFly i have some of their other models and they are excelent quality and well boxed..I would chose this one because FlyFly make parts available.... ps another great factory is FLYmodel
yep....if you look closely you can see the outline of the ailerons on both wings. Also, it requires 3 servos (1 for elevator and 2 for each aileron) so Im guessing no rudder.
Please advise which servo fits this odel. The wing cutouts as provided does not fit a 9 gram servo. Please advise tyoe and model cheers George Sampson

I didn't have high expectations for this plane initially considering the bargain basement price but "Wow" was I pleasantly surprised. The fibreglass fuse is beautifully moulded, glossy and strong. Same goes for the 2 piece balsa sheeted wing. I glued the 2 sections together with 5 minute epoxy and found the entire section quite rigid although there is no carbon spar installed. The build was straightforward and the only modification I made was to add better quality pushrod clevises. I used a 9 gram metal gear servo for the elevator and HXT 900s for the ailerons. I used a surplus Parkzone Radian outrunner which is a 3542 950kv Eflite unit. I installed a 45 amp speedie and use an 1900mah 4s lipo. This setup balances out perfectly for C of G. Anything lighter is going to give you a tail heavy plane. It pulls around 380 watts with this power system and has stacks of speed and climb out ability. It flies like it's on rails and is very aerobatic. It lands very hot though so you'll need a reasonable sized field to fly it.
Just love it!!

As a footnote to my previous review, I have now rewired & programmed my transmitter for flapperons on the Speedy. Their deployment prior to landing slows the plane down considerably whilst retaining good aileron control.

Product ordered was 1 piece wing Speedy but model delivered was 2 piece wing and inferior design GL speedy. Not happy as I already have the gl version and did not need another one. Average QC HK. 3 of the last 5 planes ordered from HK were either damaged or supplied with incorrect/missing components or the wrong product. HK does not follow up such warranty claims and your warranty policy is a farce... I am tired of HK customer service as other is none to speak of at the moment.

The Speedy product description here identifies a 1 piece wing. However the product is supplied as an inferior 2 piece wing which is the the same as the cheaper GL Speedy.
The Speedy version is supposed to be superior to the GL Speedy and is supposed to have the superior 1 piece wing and stronger fuselage as described here but instead HK send out the 2 piece wing version instead but with the superior fuselage...
HK claims they sent the correct product but it is not..... HK quality control is getting worse and worse as this is the third model that has arrived either incorrect, missing essential parts or simply broken in transit!!!
Great to see HK expanding and generally providing a great service but there seems to be increasing issues with supplying the correct products.
