The AXN Floater jet is a perfect model for beginners. Its stable flight characteristics and forgiving handling make it the perfect platform for learning to fly. Unlike some models in its class the AXN Floater-jet comes with ailerons right out of the box. This is a critical control surface that all budding pilots should master.
Constructed from strong EPO foam with a high gloss finish the AXN Floater-Jet is capable of achieving high speeds in a small amount of space or gliding around gracefully on the breeze only needing throttle to gain altitude.
The predictable flight characteristics, low wing loading and pusher prop also make the AXN Floater-Jet an ideal platform for FPV. Using a smaller battery such as a 1600mAh to 1800mAh 3S1P will allow for additional payload in the front of the aircraft and make finding the correct CG without having to add additional tail weight easy.
The included motor and 5x5 propeller offer both performance and flight time based on your flying style. You will require 4 x 9gram servos, a 1600mAh~2200mAh 3S1p Lipoly battery (depending on payload requirements) a 20Amp ESC and your own transmitter and receiver (Tx/Rx) to complete this model.
Proven time and time again the AXN Floater-Jet ticks all the right boxes for anyone looking to get in to the hobby as a beginner or intermediate pilots looking to get in to the exciting world of FPV flying.
Not sure if I've blown the speed controller or the motor? After the first flight about 10 mins in the motor stopped. I still had servos, so was able to glide down. I might have got a small amount of snow in the front breather holes on the first failed take-off attempt. But cleared it then flew great, even a newbie like me in windy conditions. I was just getting used to it when the motor slowed then stopped. I thought it was the battery that had gone, & was surprised when I stuck another battery in & still nothing happened. The servos still work, so there is power, but the ESC does not make a sound when the batt is connected. It is a new Turnigy 25A ESC purchased from Hobbyking. I checked that a wire had not come de-soldered,all seems ok. ESC does not smell. When I cut off the heat shrink nothing looks off. Not that I know what to look for. Any help would be much appreciated. Can't wait to get back in the air. And yes I cheched the battery as well!!! Cheers all.
Sounds like it could be your ESC as you say you might of got some snow in the holes at the front for air flow, have you got another 25/30 amp ESC you could try?you might also want to check the solder joints to especially if you soldered anything your self, when i first got into the hobby i did the odd dry solder joint, which is basically a bad joint,so might be worth checking again,i used the turnigy plush 30 amp esc (PRODUCT ID: TR_P30A) for my AXN and my other planes,i find them near enough bullet proof and they have lasted a lot longer than some of my planes have. :-)
It was actually the motor. I had a motor of another plane, so tried the same ESC on it and it works, not sure why the motor died? Quality control issues maybe or could it be the larger prop that I put on? Anyway, I ordered a replacement standard motor as I was not sure how to fit a better motor, plus every report I have read stated that the standard motor had more than enough power.
I totally agree folks... the axn is an unbelievable plane for the money and the versatility is insane. Please please try the 6x4 prop, it will climb verticly adn gain some extra speed with very little short fall on battery times!! I am customising my axn at the mo with some retracts and flaps for some extra fun!! Happy flying folks...
I used the Y connector, it works fine.. The connector itself was a salightly loose fit, so applied a little glue to hold it in place and it worked great. If you are new to this model, please please please get the 6x4 pro, you will not regret it as it ups the performance drastically! Belly take off, no problem!! haha let me know your thoughts on the model!!
Stuart
Thanks very much for the quick replay Stuart and Credit, is this the upgrade prop > 7936___TGS_Sport_6x4E_Precision_propeller. ? I'll let you know how i get on!
Yes thats one.. Fantastic addition.. Is this your first AXN? If you go on You Tube, there is a Kiwi guy that shows complete build of the AXN - this is part 1 for you, very helpful tips.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU_IEdTDOq0
Lots of luck!
Nice one thanks Stuart, yes my First AXN and First plane !! could i just ask 2 other things i'll stop midering then lol, is the OrangeRX 610 enough range for the AXN and should i use inner or middle rudder/aileron arm holes as a beginner, BUT i would like to do aerobatics ! Thanks
Hi Simon,
Regarding the Orange RX - I believe that will have ample range, but checking the web to confirm would be advisable. I am a Futaba man, and the range on those are simply as far as you can keep orientation of the plane. Most non-park models will be the same. I assume this is the case as you have purchased the Rx for the AXN?
Regarding rudder/aileron horns, I would recommend the inner horn even though you are a beginner, the model is pretty dosile and super efficient with gliding so you can take it very steady. If you have the standard prop I would recommend no more than half throttle on launch, it will glide very nicely and then you can ease your way in. With the 6x4 prop, the AXN will pull verticle climbs with absolute ease...
I have posted above link by a kiwi guy who has delivered some very informative articles on this model.
To all those on here, i fly in Richmond Park, Surrey... If any of you are local, would be great to have you along at the field, its a public flying site, along with another buddy who has an AXN... Feel free to come along!!
Best wishes
Stuart.
Happy to answer as many questions as you have!
Regarding rudder... Did you slacken off the grub screw on the horn linkage, centralise the servo AND the rudder then centralise the trims on your transmitter and then tighten back up the grub screw on the rudder rod. You should then have some play with the transmitter trims. The servo horn doesn't need to be exactly 90 degrees as the very small degree difference does not lose any movement of rudder. And of course, to get the servo horn to very close 90 degrees you can remove from servo and replace. I hope this all helps. Let me know. Can be a bit fiddly at times.
Stu
Yes i've centered all servo's & rudder/ flaps etc as much as possible . i found trying different servo horns has helped get better "natural centering" on the sefvo's, could you tell me ig i've got the right hole on control rod in attached pictur please ? ALSO Did you glue the wings in or just glue the Rod covers ? Thanks again, really appreciated.

Yes youve got the it in the right control horn hole, this will give you maximum deflection of surface. I am out of answers to your problem, as I have had two AXN's and both have worked perfectly with the connection of the rudder to servo horn linkage...
been flying my axn now for 3 months, a truly forgiving plane, crashed it on first flight due to radio gear failure, it snapped in half, an hour on the table with some hot glue and it flew again, am getting about 35 mins flight some slow some crazy speeds on a 2200mah turnigy pack, for the money it cant be beaten i dont think.
Totally cant be beaten, its unbelievable value, so chuffed with the model. I have an acrowot foam-e which is an absolute pleasure to fly too, well worth a look if you want a good sports plane thats super in its performance. Flight times with the 6x4 prop hardly change at all, which is unbelievable..
easy to put together but guys remember to reverse the wires for the motor as its on back to front as in blue to red to esc instead of red to red otherwise the motor will turn wrong way hope you see what i mean
BOught another off my frend after myne crashed from HK servo failed, stuck the two standard props together to make 1 4 blade prop, goes lke a bat out of hell
Just got one of these axn what a great little plane a few at my club have them and they fly great quite quick as well perfect for the beginner and for 30 odd quid a real bargain also bought the t28 Trojan not flown it yet but will let you know when I get chance
David this version does not come with a transmitter. If you are a complete beginner may I recommend the Bixler V1.1 Ready To Fly version. Very easy to setup and it comes with everything you'll need...
does any one know why i cant order this from denmark?
it seems like that if you live in the uk you can order from the DE warehouse or the uk, but the rest of europe can only order from DE ware house
No worries matey, clicky internet fingers got impatient waiting for AXN to get re-stocked, so I just ordered myself a new #16 V2 808 camera :) By the way I think we've spoken on YouTube before, I'm SIXEIGHTTWO :D
Yeah i remember you now,we spoke on your FPV video i think it was,i hope you do i nice little review and lets us know on YT what you think of the new key chain camera,i've been reading about them over on rcgroups and there has been some good reports,i'd rather hear what you say about it though,oh i've the old one and the HD one and i've put the #16 V2 on my wish list but thats a big list these days.
Will try to do a review as soon as it gets here, just couldn't resist it with the new 120 degree wide angle D lens and FPV video out cable, for $43 you can't really go wrong can you? I've been reading through the RCGroups thread too, maybe see ya over there :) Found a video on YT, quality looks bloomin' amazing! Happy flying -Al

This plane is awesome. Bought the ARF version with motor and kitted it out. Recommended spec: APC 6x4e prop, 3S 2200mAH battery, 25-30A HK SS ESC, 4xHXT900 seros. Flies really well with bags of power, glides well too and with the 2200 battery, it balances perfectly with no additional weight required and you get good duration. I've had over 20 minutes with mixed throttle. You can't get better for the money!
