Will this power supply power my Supermate DC6 charger ??? cHobbyking™* 105W 15V/7A Switching DC Power Supply
bflyin  64 points - 12/8/2014

is this compatible with the new version accucell 6 with 80w and 10a? I know the spec matchuo is ok, but I looked at the pictures of the charger and the only sign of a power plug on the charger was a xt 60 plug with two alligator clips. no sign of an ac adapter port, just the one for car battery hookup with the xt60 port. at least I couldn't see one.

Will this work with the Turnigy Accucel-6? Will be charging Zippy 4000mAh 2s.
 Joaquin 25 points
Yes, that is the same setup I use.
 bflyin 64 points
which accucell-6 are you talking about? there's the 50w 6a version and the more powerful one with 80w and 10a. i'm interested in the more powerful one and was wondering if this power supply will work with this charger. I already own the 50w version and am looking to buy a second charger. the more powerful one also has a usb port so you can power it up to your computer and monitor your charging on your computer.
 Joaquin 25 points
This power supply is rated for 7 amps, so it would be under powered for the charger you are describing bflyin.
 bflyin 64 points
to whoever is interested, I just got off the live technical support line and asked what power source would be best for the accucell-6 80w 10a and they do recommend the 105w 7a power supply product #9052000023-3. granted it doesn't have the 10 amp rating like the charger does but who charges at 10 amps?
 Chase 1 points
How can you connect this power supply to the accucell-6 80w 10a? From the pictures of the charger, it seems like it only accepts the XT60 input. Is there a converter somewhere I am not seeing? Thanks in advance for any help.
 bflyin 64 points
hey juaquin, just so you know, it can only be under powered if what you are charging is trying to draw more than the 7amps. most everyone charges a couple of amps, and no more or it would drastically shorten the life of a battery, or even ruin it. to fully draw the max amps, you would have to be charging numerous batteries at the same time like on those multi charging boards that really should be avoided if you value the life span of your batteries. it would be nice to charge more than one or two at a time, but not at the cost of a short life on a battery. they don't charge evenly when you do multiple batteries.
 Joaquin 25 points
bflyin I parallel charge up to 6 batteries at a time because it is a HUGE time saver. When parallel charging the amp draw gets real high real quick, just a couple of the batteries mentioned by the OP and you are not even getting 1C.
 Joaquin 25 points
Chase this will plug directly into the accucell-6 the xt60 is on the output side.
 Joaquin 25 points
Sorry that last post was not too clear. The input for the accucell-6 is a typical round plug insert, this power supply's output fits that insert. The XT60 is the accucell-6 output.
 bflyin 64 points
there are two accucell 6 chargers. one that is 50w and 7amp. the other accucell 6 has 80w and 10 amps. on the latter mentioned, for the power supply side of the charger it is an xt-60 plug in because I went ahead and bought one. the advantage to the latter over the first is that you can run it through your computer and see all the functions while its performing whatever you selected, its a cool feature. then of course there is the black and red lead connections for the charging side. the round plug for power supply is only on the 50w 7amp version. I own both. I use more than one charger because after doing some research about multiple charging off a parallel board which I almost dove into to save time too, but every reliable source said that they don't balance/charge evenly enough, that when the lower charged cells are charged enough the ones that were taking on the charge faster will be slightly over charged and shorten the life of the cells in the battery. didn't test the theory myself but I went along with that recommendation. cell balancer cant work on numerous batteries because they all charge at different rates to some degree. it wont be able to detect which batteries should stay on cell 1 charge and the next battery might be ready for cell 2 to charge, putting balancer in what to do situation. least that is what I read from numerous sources.
 bflyin 64 points
I also forgot to mention, when I bought the accucell 6 80w 10 amp I purchased their recommended 105w 7amp power supply and the connection to each other aren't compatible. the balancer charger has a xt-60 power supply input and the power supply has the standard round plug. if the connections were compatible it would be more than enough for single battery charging/balancing but not for doing like joaquin does charging 6 at once he would need a lot more amps on the power supply. I finally found the right power supply for the new accucell 6 80w 10amp. it is huge, kinda awesome though because it tells you how many amps your chargers are actually pulling for charging and it has two ports to hook up two chargers. just takes up a lot of bench space. so I put it up unless I am actually using it.
 Joaquin 25 points
Just to be clear I was referring to the 50W 7A Accucell-6. You would think that Turnigy would have the sense to name 2 different chargers 2 different names lol, can cause a bit of confusion.
 bflyin 64 points
seriously, its not like there is a lack of words in our vocabulary. also why would they change the type of power supply connection from one charger to the next from the same manufacturer. if it wasn't for the alligator clip power supply cable that comes with the charger, you wouldn't be able to use the second power supply they recommended because on the power supply with the two charger hookup, those are round cylinder hookups on the power supply, and the charger has the xt60. so with the alligator clip power cable you can bite on the two hubs for a connection for supplied power. it is a nice power supply, but no hookup cables are included what so ever.

I use this with my accucel-8 and it works great. Just need to cut the end off, seperate the lines and add new seperate ends. Do wish it was a touch cheaper, because you can accomplish the same thing with an old laptop charger. I bought it because it has an internal cooling fan, and coupled with the accucel-8's cooling fan, I don't have to worry about overheating issues with my charging system.
