I have this motor with apc 7x6E propeller and turnigy sentry 18A, 3cell battery 20C I have a problem. When I pull the throttle to maximum the engine stops and makes squealing sound. I do not know what is wrong. when I use GWS 6x3 it works fine. any ideas what is wrong?

It happens all the time no matter what timing is set. Is it possible that my ESC is not good with this motor? It looks as if the motor didn't have enough power to work with this propeller.

this have happened to me too. Only when using 3s Lipo though. Maybe this is because of some sort of overload? I try using a gentle touch on the throttle, and this seems to help.

This motor simply don't have enough of torque to turn around your prop at full throttle. When this happens, motor gets out of sync with ESC and start to make squealing sound as you described. Only thing you can do is use smaller prop or one with lower pitch. I personaly find this motor to work best with GWS RD 8043 prop when I run it on 3 cell LiPo, or GWS RD 8060 on 2cell LiPo.

How much power it will deliver???..
mi plane weight is gonna be around 1.2-1.5kg...
will this motor propel mi plane...i'm not xpecting very high speeds...but need decent flight time..I have 11.v (4000mah 10C continuous) battery pack..
what is the size of the prop to be use..
Thanks in advance..

I would not use it in your airplane. When running on full throttle on 11,1 v, motor will become hot. You will need a bigger motor for your airplane.

The motor is ok for a 1.2-1.5kg plane but look at the reviews, i don't see many five stars, i don't have this motor and i can't say if it's good or not. According to the specs, you can use it for your plane, good luck!

Would this be suitable replacement for the stock motor on the AXN Floater? Maybe with a 6x5 prop?

I don't think so, running it ad 3 cell with a 8x4 gives 600g Thrust, with a 6x5 i suppose it should be around 350-400g thrust, it would be alot underpowered.

I have one of these in a Slow Stick. It works great with a 3 cell but doesn't have any power whatsoever sith a Turnigy 800 mah 2 cell. I would not suggest using a 2 cell with this motor.

I use this motor on a Slow stick and here a few things I have found. Put about 2-4degrees right and down thrust. I like using a 3 cell 2200 battery, if using a 2 go with between 1300 and 1500. you will need some weight in the front as it is a lighter motor than the 350 geared. here is some prop data a have found and it seems accurate for 3 cell The GWS EP8040 is the most commonly used prop with this motor. It will produce about 22 ounces of thrust at 14 amps with a pitch speed of 43 mph. I do not recommend using any other 8 inch props with this motor when using a 3-cell Lipo. The TP 7x6E produces 20 ounces of thrust at 14.5 amps with a pitch speed of 60 mph. Good choice for high speed on flying wings and profile jets. The APC 7x5E produces 20 ounces of thrust at 14 amps with a pitch speed of 54 mph. The GWS EP7035 produces 16 ounces of thrust at 9 amps with a pitch speed of 47 mph. The APC 6x5.5E produces 11 ounces of thrust at 10 amps with a pitch speed of 65 mph. The Master Airscrew 7x4 3-blade produces 15 ounces of thrust at 12.5 amps with a pitch speed of 43 mph. The Master Airscrew 6x4 3-blade produces 11 ounces of thrust at 9.5 amps with a pitch speed of 48 mph. For 2 cell The GWS EP1060 prop produces about 15 ounces of thrust at 11.5 amps with a pitch speed of 33 mph. The GWS EP1047 prop produces about 15 ounces of thrust at 12.5 amps with a pitch speed of 24 mph. The APC 9x3.8SF prop produces about 16 ounces of thrust at 11.5 amps with a pitch speed of 24 mph. The GWS EP9047 prop produces about 14 ounces of thrust at 10.5 amps with a pitch speed of 27 mph. The GWS EP9050 prop produces about 14 ounces of thrust at 10 amps with a pitch speed of 32 mph. The GWS EP9070 prop produces about 13 ounces of thrust at 12.5 amps with a pitch speed of 35 mph. The GWS EP8040 prop produces about 12 ounces of thrust at 7.5 amps with a pitch speed of 32 mph. The GWS EP8043 prop produces about 12.5 ounces of thrust at 8 amps with a pitch speed of 31 mph. The GWS EP8060 prop produces about 13 ounces of thrust at 10 amps with a pitch speed of 39 mph. The GWS HD8060 prop produces about 12 ounces of thrust at 9 amps with a pitch speed of 41 mph.
The 2 cell battery config has slightly more power than the stock motor if you use 1060 prop

I was wondering what are the different ways you can mount this motor on the plane. How are you guys mounting? Would like to hear from different people who have successfully mounted this airplane particularly without stick mount.

On my foamies I use a 1/4" ply firewall hot glued to the bare foam nose and drill the provided mount mounting holes out just a bit and use wood screws. No problems so far. BTW I used this motor on a motor glider with a 6 foot span and it climbed out well with a 2s lipo and 10x4.7 SF prop. This was a floater of course but the cheap 1300 bat gave good duration because this motor isn't a current hog on 2s. Nice lazy flying. On 3s batts with a 8x6 prop I get over 200 watts full throttle. Great for smaller crank n' bank wings. Steve.

Hi Cybernaught. IMHO Your advice is sound but i would urge caution using hot melt glue unless you live somewhere cold, and your kit runs cool I'm in Perth Western Australia and i now regret using so much hot melt glue on my planes. On hot days here that stuff is suspect.

If you mean the stickmount, you are right. It can be used, but requires modification (drilling new holes). Don't ask why towerpro supplies the wrong one, as no one except towerpro knows:)

A 2s battery with a big prop is OK. I use 10x4.7 but for best results I like a 3s battery with an 8x4. An 8x6 draws too much power. Like over 200 watts and is just too much for the motor. Turnigy 2408-21 is a bit more powerful (stronger magnets) than the Tower pro version but the TP lasts longer and is better made in my experience. I like this motor and parts are available.

I have used it with both a 2 cell and 3 cell. the motor works with both. The only thing to keep in mind is do not use any bigger prop than an 8X4 with a 3 cell. It will draw about 22 amps a so use don't go wide open for long with a new battery. An 8x4 will give you a pitch speed of about 43mph with 21 oz of thrust

ssmith456 - a 3 cell with 8 x 6 gws hd prop draws almost 20 amps with this motor. Yes, way over spec but my motor is holding up so far and barely gets warm with my 10 minute flights. A 2 cell could not draw 22 amps with an 8 x 4. Maybe I misunderstood your post.
