TURNIGY Sentilon 100A HV 5-12S Speed Controller (Version 4) The Sentilon 100A HV can handle 12 lipoly cells in series, thats 36 NiMH cells! This BESC owes its high voltage ability to the USA imported Fairchild MOSFets used and high quality compnentry. Now with an ultra-fast 12Mhz CPU. Faster clock cycling preventing sync loss with some large motors* Warranted for 12 months, the Sentilon series BESCs are guaranteed against faulty manufacturing and poor quality components.
WARNING: For some large motors, you must use 'High' timing mode. Failure to do so will result in a burnt esc.
User Programmable, both via controller and optional programming card. The programming card is an excellent item as it instantly tells the user the current settings and with a few simple clicks of the buttons, the user can change the settings and have graphical reassurance of those changes. The programming card is an excellent Item and simple to use!
*Sync loss occurs when an ESC's CPU cannot control the 3 connections quickly enough to continue synchronization with the motor. Often described as a screeching noise, sync loss will cause a sudden loss in power until the ESC can regain timing with the motors poles and fall back into Sync. This phenomenon is not an esc fault, rather an incompatibility with the ESC, Motor, number of cells and prop speed and usually only ever occurs on very large motors. The TURNIGY 100A Sentilon now runs a 12Mhz CPU, the fastest in the market! Ensuring perfect sync with the fastest of motors and snappiest of throttle movements!
Hello,
I bought 4 ESC Turnigy sentilon100A HV (V4) for my team, but I wonder if it's possible to use this ESC for a R/C car .
Could we use "forward/reverse with brake" whit programming or update...?
THANKS
Hooking up RPM sensor-how to?
I just purchased one of these Sentilloon ESC and it came with an RPM sensor* the problem is I do not know how to hook it up to run it. Anyone out there can help me with this set-up"
Thanks,
Orlando
Bon achat.
Hi guys , I 've just bought it then paid through paypal. Come back to see other product list on the web shop and see now price is 79,4$ that is 10% less. That's not nice . It means next time better to wait 1 month to purchase because each one new buyer reduce the price on stock ? That's not a good customer business. Maybe glad for the product (I will see) but sure not for the price.
got the esc but cant programme it what card do I need otherwise its a waste of money to me please answer this question Mr hobbyking and also there are 2 wires which is the one for the rx and whats the othe on for
this card will be usefull: www.link you can program it without using the card(I did that regarding the timing-change). The long cable is for use on receiver(the short one is for programming card).
steps to follow are explained at: www.link
I have lost my intruction sheet for this controller, have not used it yet! now that I do I somehow misplaced them and can not find them on website...does anyone know where they can be found
An observation for HobbyKing. How is it that you display 5 crowns customer rating for this esc. when the customer reviews wouldn't give it a single star?
Leon.
did u notice the names of the reviewers? it seems the 5/5 ratings come from a lot of users that use their "real name" instead of people that use handles like mine or "videoace1" etc.
Solder your ends on and go, butI always use a program card first. Just as a safety precaution. For the price of a program card, it is nice to double check how your esc is set up.
Heat isn't as much the enemy as drawing to many amps. It my be wise to either go to a higher amp ESC or maybe a smaller prop. One inch in diameter or one pitch less can make a big difference in amp draw.
Amps = heat... I*R through a resistor = watts. Thats the heat you get out. Since every component in the ESC has some resistance, more current = more heat. More cooling air over the heatsink can't hurt anything. It might help it survive longer. I can't see any reason not to use a fan to keep it cooler if airflow is limited.
It is understood that these ESCs need some cooling at limit amp draw. A small fan is not enough at limit but it is beter than nothing. You will eventually destroy it if you do not take serious care of it. If you are under 8S go with a cheap 200A hobbyking ESC. Excellent. 100A-120A for that ESC is a joke.

Hello, i am interested in know if this esc (turnigy sentilon) will works fine with the TGY AerodriveXp SK Series 63-74 170Kv / 3250W at 12s
will burn the esc?
i have a friend that use this esc with the turnigy 80-100 and it works a few minutes and burn it.
thanks
even at 12s? i am thinking to put it at 10s to prevent a burn esc, but if you run this motor at 12s without any failure, then, at 12s, this motor gives up a lot of torque and power. at 12s what is the current?? around 100A, the limit of the esc?
thanks a lot
I use the esc with calmato sport 60 and TGY AerodriveXp 46 SK Series 50-55 580Kv / 1580w with 14x7 prop.
Calamato flies like 3D plane with the electro set. :)
Dozens of flights, no problem, not hot.
I have pulled 100 amp from 12S LiPo with a Sentilon 100. Thats approaching 5000 watts. Works fine. I managed to blow up the ESC when the motor spit off the rotor due to failure of the spring clip and stop collar. (appx 45 lb static thrust) Suddenly there was no resistance... might as well have been powering a dead short. I can't fault the ESC for failing. I replaced it with a Super Brain and repaired the motor. I like the data recording of the Super Brain and recommend it over the Scentilo
What is difference between BESC and ESC? Does it mean brushed and brushless or what? If so, I asume it's not possible to use BESC with brushless motor?
If you have bought one of these you need to be very careful about the options you use to set it up. I would recomend you use the programming card as this makes setting up very easy. trying to programme using the transmitter is an absolute nightmare as its impossible to count the beeps to work out where you are. If you are using 10 cells or more use the high timing setting, this esc also ask you to set the number of lipo cells to be used, make sure you get all the settings right for the model you
The B usually refers to the Bec (isolated power for Rx)component of the ESC (Electronic Speed Controller). Not all ESC have a Bec and as such these are just ESC's.
It is a brushless ESC, which means you can't use a brushed motor with this ESC.
You also need an external BEC or another way to power your receiver and servos as this ESC doesn't come with a BEC!
Use a programming card to program it, the turnigy ESC'S are a nightmare to program by transmitter -.-
hi i bought the sentilon 100a hv v4 speedcontroller and i am using in on a trex 600 no 3d flying or any stunts just normal flying bu if i hover or if i fly my motor wil stutter for some reason...i use 6cell 5000mah batt...i also cant get it to auto detect my lipo's....please help
Today I hooked Sentilon 100A HV esc to KB45-11XL motor and tested it on 8s 4000mah lipo setup. I got around half a throttle when lound bang occured and I had to stop motor. This was with default timing (15) thats have worked with all motors before.
I changed timing to low (3.75) and now I can get 3/4 of the throttle and after that motor starts to stutter and I have to cut throttle.
Most people recommend low timing for 2pole inrunners but then there are recommendations for high timing for "some" big motors.
So whats best timing for KB45 1000kv motor on 4.5" fan?
Sounds like you are using the wrong motor battery combination. An 8s battery puts out over 30 volts, times 1000 rpms per volt = 30000 motor rpms. you should be using a motor with around 300 kv. Not sure about the kb45 motor you are using but the esc cannot handle that many rpms.
Then, how it is possible to use this ESC without any problems with 10S pack and T600 that has kv880. That gives more than 32000rpm without sync loss. 300kv motor on a 4.5" fan would give under 9000 rpms. RPM's cannot be the problem, either timing or amps.
the watts is hurting the motor not the cell count, but in general if you put more cell's you get more watts. to lower the watts you have to lower the load, so maybe a not so high pitch propeller.
If you use more voltage than the motor is rated for you will over rev the motor and could cause damage to the motor. I accidently put 22 volts on a motor rated for max volts of 14.8, it ran really good for a few seconds then stopped. It broke the magnet can loose from the motor. Don't do it, it could be dangerous and cause injury.
What are you going to do with this combo? 12 cells works out to 43.4 volts. I go by a simple rule. If the manufacturer says 10 cells stick with that. It is your money, just don't complain if the smoke comes out of the motor.
u are increasing chances of damaging the motor in layman style...
but actually no danage till u r in limits with motor running time and prop load..
just run motor till it remain cool and use low pitch prop..
I am using this on a 2m pattern plane, with10cell lipo, no problem at all max draw 70 amps to be safe, excellent product

I ran this esc on a EDF with 12 s and 80 amps. After the 7th flight it broke into flames and burned the fuselage. I won't buy another one and I certaintly won't install it in an expensive model.

Perfect ESC but have a look on the Condenser´s(Rubycon 470µF 50V).In the last time we have 10 ESC´s with outgoing elektrolyth. So we take 4pcs of the Condensers and the Problem was gone.I take 2x 1000µF 50V ans also the Problem is gone.I must say that we are on the Limit(>120A)but we have mounted water cooling on the mosfet´s And the original Cooler on top. Greetings from Vienna Peter

It's realy hard to decide, how to rate these product. My old 3,1 ver BESC once die 3with no reason, so I ordered a neu one, 4,0 ver. Whene I got it, I imediately tryed it and I noticed, that doesn't start on 12S lipo. On 10S it was OK. I have to return it, and I got a new one. I tryed and at the first try, everithing was fine, but after I reprogramed and tryed again, it was the same, like with the first one. Now third one works OK.
