Hi i have a 330mm quadcopter running this motor with 12amp ESC and 8x4 prop. Do you think It can run on a 2200mah 3s?
javier  5 points - 5/14/2013

how many thrust i can take with a 6x3 and a 2s lipo? 10a esc will be enough? excuse my bad english!
 e_lm_70 416 points
A bit less then 200g thrust, and 10amp is perfect match for the motor. Possibly even a 6amp is ok on 2S ... but a 10amp will allow you to go 3S
LEBEDKO  1 points - 4/9/2013

I have this motor with 10A regulator, 8x4 prop and battery rhino 460 2S. Work time in my hand 2min. Why so little work time? I want ti rise to 10min. How ican do it? Rise battery capacity to 800-1000mah?
 Gary 2961 points
Yes,if you increase the capacity of the battery this will give longer run times, also a smaller prop will draw less amps to give longer run times but will reduce the power a bit.
Jack xD  18 points - 4/7/2013

Can I safely use this with a 7x4SF prop on a 3S without issues?
 RVaitor 115 points
Yes you can.

hows the prop mount on this? need an adapter?, rather not use a prop saver, want to use on a little scale plane.

Can I use two of these motors for the F-27 Friendship? Anybody know what the max prop size is for this aircraft?

IT DOES NOT MENTION THE CURRENT AND POWER, CAN i USE A 6 AMPS. ESC ON THIS MOTOR?
 alexw2150 6 points
I would not advise using a 6 amp ESC with this motor, as it would burn out. I recommend a 10 or 15 amp ESC instead.
ian  1 points - 2/15/2013

these little motors are fantastic on my mini wing running 4.75x4.75 prop and 3s 11.1v, motor runs stone cold and 10amp speedo barely warm......unlimited vertical !!!!
Walter Clark  6 points - 1/28/2013

WHY ISN'T THE MAX CURRENT POSTED ON THIS ITEM? .... Come to think of it, why isn't max current or watts part of the title. Instead unloaded RPM is posted. That has no value to the user.
skip1444  10 points - 8/7/2012

The motor specs show the voltage as 2S (7.4v) but many threads and various discussions show people using 3S. My intention is to use 3S. Has this motor changed or is 3S OK?
Thx
 sandman_br 483 points
im using this motor with 6x4 prop and 3s lipo in a 1mt zagi. works very well!
 skip1444 10 points
Thanks for the reply. I was planning on 6x5 on a wing(Ramenator). I'll check the temp after a couple of minutes of air time. Glad to hear it works OK.
 Rolo 1 points
you can use this motor with 3s batteries, and it will work great!!
 XRAYAIR 213 points
I have used these with 3s and even 4s. With 3s I use 8x3.8, so 6x4 will be fine for sure. They get a bit warm when I use 4s at full throttle for too long... 15 seconds... But the ESC's are what defines the voltage to the motors, and are designed not to overrun them, even when using a bigger battery. I try to go 1s over what the rating is, so I have full throttle longer, before I get low voltage alarms. Just make sure the ESC's are rated for 1s more.

can i use Hobbyking SS Series 25-30A ESC with this motor and what is prop size
 Schorhr 222 points
7-8" props are recommended, on my plane it was ~7amps, probably not more then 15amps on the quad with 8x4.
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 nguyentran 21 points
im using 8x4 and its really powerful. Recommend with 2s battery.
 PVRR 10 points
I used just 18A ESCs with 7x3.5. It was just fine.
 XRAYAIR 213 points
I use 10A ESC's, 3S Lipo, and 8x3.8 props. runs clean, and cool on my acro quad.
scratchbuilder  40 points - 3/27/2012

hello everybody! Is this a possible replacement motor for the AXN Floater Jet? My old motor is broken and i got this motor laying around. due the construction of the Floater-Jet i cannot use props bigger than 5" but i got some 3S lipo laynig around =) Thanks for your help!
 RonRC 1992 points
scratchbuilder, this motor should handle a 5" prop with just about any pitch. To get more out of it, I would try putting a 5x3 3blade prop. Any 2 blade prop will only achieve 8oz. of thrust but a 5x3 3 blade will get you just under 12oz. of thrust. much more efficient. Hope this helps and happy flying!
 sfactor1 939 points
way too small for axn. unless u put 4 of them on and make a custom bomber

helo friends, which prop should i use to get a maximum thrust with 2s lipo? my plane is 380gram. i will give credit
 M.R. Electronics 6 points
Tested lots of sizes with this motor best 8-4.3 GWS-SF thrust 11.2 7.4amp
 Krzysiek3d 78 points
Hello ! I use this motor with 2s li-po 800mah with 9x4,7 prop and all work's fine in 350g RTF 3D flyer. So... try 9x4,7 GWS
 ellet 62 points
For maximum thrust using GWS 9050DD. The current consumption is 9A of 2s battery.
 RonRC 1992 points
M.R. Electronics is correct. The 8x4 3 blade props will get the maximum amount of thrust for this motor at 32oz. The static thrust and prop stall thrust are virtually equal meaning it is a very efficient prop. You could try a 9x5 3 blade, but it isn't as efficient and may be too much for this motor but the numbers are 58oz. static thrust and 51oz. prop stall thrust. so 51oz. it is. I've never tried a prop this size but I only use 3S batteries. It may work fine with a 2S. Happy flying and hope this helps!

can i use the HobbyKing Red Brick 25A ESC on this motor
 vanbos 5 points
NO you kill motor
 Mroek 16 points
Hi, Don't trust "vanbos"! You could use this ESC with this engine! remember do not use to big prop to this motor about 6x4 for 3S about 7x3.5 2S you could use smaller ESC for this motor (about 15A) - you reduce weight. Best Regards!

Can this motor be used with 3S ?

Motor specifications say the motor can be used with 2S only, however some customers claim to have used it with 3S but with a smaller prop.

7x3 prop.
No problems
 William 1 points
Currently using this motor with 3s 1000 pack and 6x3, 6x4, and 7x3 props on a Herr 36" Cub park flyer, no problems. Motor barely warm after 20 minute flights, but this is flying at half-throttle. More than ample power for 650g airplane.
 gittarpikk 30 points
These are great little and cheap motors...perfect for light foamie and the 6x4 apc knockoff works perfect......BUT.... I noticed they do NOT like to be ran as a pusher...and several others have noted bearing problems ...This may be why.. the two I run now work fine as pushers...but squall like a Tomcat when you set it up as a pusher. I think they perhaps don't have the proper thrust bearing design in them.
 golys 100 points
any pusher(prop behind and wing) will make the motor scream

Can I use an ALUMINUM mount like this one with this motor?

re/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=3613

Thanks!
 Aklik 6 points
Great motor! I have it on a indoor foamie works great.
 Stephen 20 points
How did you MOUNT it? Can you use the HK aluminum motor mount indicated above?

Thanks!
 Aklik 6 points
yep screwed it to the wood plate
 Stephen 20 points
Don't want to use a wooden plate ** would prefer to use an aluminum heat sink like the one indicated. Will this motor fit that heat sink / mount?
 Aklik 6 points
it looks like it the red mount comes off and then its just a round mount. I dont know the size.
 Aklik 6 points
the motor is about .100 to big
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 Stephen 20 points
Darn! Is there another type of "heat sink" mount that would fit ** or is this just a "screw it to the firewall" type of motor?
 Aklik 6 points
I dont know of one.
 flybyrc 58 points
Yes you can. But this mounts break easy after a crash. the mount off the motor comes off after a few set screws are taken out. Then it slips right on the mount.
Check your mounts for burs left from the manufacturer. Then clean them up if you see any.

I have seen some 2850 kv motor with the same naming as this as others hace reported.
This is a 1600 kv motor good for a8x4 or 9x4 prop on 2s while the other can only be used with a 7" or lower.
Please HK take care of this, I just ordered mine to use with a pico stick and I really need it to be what it should be* a 1600 kv motor usable with a 9 inch prop on a 2s battery.
 Ben-ya-min 35 points
i have had a friend order this motor and he must have got the 2850kv because his motor went much harder than mine even though they were the "same" kv.
 BruceM 37 points
Ben-ya-min if he got the 2850kv tell him make sure it isnt getting hot. Higher Kv is less torque so turns a smaller prop.. lower kv is more torque for larger ( longer or more pitch ) Props
 gittarpikk 30 points
A year ago I ordered a couple of these... must have been the 1600 kv as it pulled the 9 inch prop fine and did not get hot... but the two I have ordered in the last 6 months scream with a 6x4 and get hot with the 9 inchers... won't even handle an 8 or a 7 inch prop...but 6 is great... so those must be 2800 kv...my guess.

Procuro por mais colegas aeromodelistas brasileiros que tenham comprado o motor 2805 que tenham apresentado problemas.
 mfiel 117 points
ola amigo, to a comprar um desse, vc comprou? qual o problema dele? desde ja te agradeco!
 DEKO - RS 192 points
(arsimon*cpovo****)

what did you hawe for speed controller?? It`s 10A good?
 Beaufighter 1808 points
It all depends on what kind of power you set up for (what size propeller you use) For this on 2S, a 10A is a bit too small for 7" or 8" prop, go for 12 or 15A. 10A is good for a 6" prop or smaller.

I always use a powermeter to find what the max current is for the specific propeller, then I don't need to guess. Burnt esc is usually the same a totally wrecked airplane...

26 thumbs up!
Great motor for the price. Reviews have been very helpful and before purchase and confirmed to be relatively accurate.

Motor has problems starting up due to fragile wiring. Had to fix this but at this price, can't complain!

5 stars for me but rated as 4 stars so that users know of possible defects in workmanship. I will definitely buy more!

Benchtest results:

Tested with E-flite 25 Amp ESC and 3s 620mAh lipo

APC 7x4 = 6.9A About 15 min runtime and good thrust
APC 9x4.7 = 9.4A About 9 min runtime with great pull

Both setups worked great on a custom Extra 182g depron plane on both 2s and 3s lipos.

I bought it 2 weekas ago and i have no problems with it! It runs really smooth and clear. I have many crashes and the motor still vorks perfectlly! I am usinig it with 12A speed controller, 7,4V 500mAh 20C Li-poly, and 8x4.3 slowfly prop. The static thrust is about 300g and it taces only 7Amps!!! I was surprised with its quality/price ratio!

Small gap between magnets, otherwise a really nice motor for the price.
output shaft is 3mm x 11mm long
14 magnets, 22mm x 5mm 12pole stator, delta wind
four 2.9mm mounting holes on a 22mm diameter circle (mounting plate is 28.5mm dia.)
would fit 10mm tube mount (easily dis-assembled with hex keys)
Excellent value
