Not a question, but a statement: The Motor weighs 59g without connectors.

Hi just had a mid air and broke the shaft, does any one known of a replacement shaft that will fit this motor? I have 2 in a Twinstar, fly's great. John
 Rcflyyer1 97 points
If you look at the shaft specs. and go to your hobby shop, they will probably be able to help you out.

This A28L looks to be a good replacement/kit motor for the Kinetic 800 sailplane, since it has front mount holes and plenty of thrust. However, I wonder, at 49g if it isn't a bit heavy.
Has anyone else tried it?
 Flying V 81 points
I think it would be ok. The Kinetic motor weighs 35 grams, so 14 grams extra won't worry it. Check the cog after installing. You may have to move the battery back a little, but not much. Plenty of power with this motor. Good luck with it.

Would you use this motor on a 2 meter, 30 oz. sailplane? Thinking a Goldberg Sophisticated Lady...any thoughts? Thanks, Chris
 Toad1 49 points
I'm using it on gws me-109, with 9x7,5 prop and 3s lipo. It weights around 450g, so it's about half of yours. Though i dont really need more than half throttle, and the motor wont get that warm even on full throttle, so it might work for you too. But then again, to be safe, you might want to look for something just a bit bigger.

Bought four of these for my quad kopter and was wondering if the X mount comes with it. If not Ive got some in the spare parts bin. Also the mounting holes are on the wrong side. Has anyone ever reversed the shaft through the bell end ? Was going to buy the Tower Pro 2410-09's but they are never in stock ! .
 helimark 29 points
xmount comes with it :) and the can be reversed (i've done it on my tricopter *) ) mark

This is my first Quad and I am excited to get it going. Its good I have some heli experience. I know that HK does not have any 10x47 counter rotate props, do they ? At least I couldn't find any. What would be a good sub ?? Other than the three blade..

Can I use use this motor to build a quadcopter?
 stra0 6 points
sure you can, low KV motors are good for tri and quadcopter. Make sure to use "big" props, such as a 10*47 or a 11
 helimark 29 points
i actualy have used these on an tricopter, nice resolution and tons of power, there ideal with 10x4.7 SF props, make sure that you use some good speed controllers, if youre going to use this with wiicopter/multiwii, take hobyking SS 18-20A esc. those have perfect resolution for the system.

Anyone have vibration problems with these ? Mine vibrate like crazy and could be used as a cell phone vibrator :^). Couldnt balance all of the way. Any one have a better way to balance these other than tape or CA ??

Anyone have any idea what the shaft replacement part number is?
 Rcflyyer1 97 points
Maybe you could contact product support or go to ebay or contact the manufacturer or distributer. Maybe you could even buy a new motor cause the're only like 9 bucks or somethin.
 helimark 29 points
i don't know, but i've used featheringshaft of the old align v1. they are the same thickness and length, and stronger as the original, another advantage is that you can use an small screw instead of the standard lockpin
 SLOW STIK 53 points
you can buy a length of 3 mm drill rod and cut off what you need with a dremel or you can use any hardened 3 mm shaft and just file in the flat spots and use 3 mm locking collars ! Works great and they don't bend so easy ! Cost of the 3 mm drill rod is about $6.00 USD for a 1 foot section. That's enough for several motor shafts plus.....

I prefer to bolt my motors to firewall so the shaft is at the wrong end for me. nice fat windings and low Kv should throw big 10" prop. Flimsy fat plastic mount hardly looks suficient and obstructs air flow. Still I am determined to use it somewhere.
Dimitris  20 points - 2/6/2010

Can i power it with a 7.4v(2c) battery?
 jej500 36 points
yes, I did it but it works better with 3S lipo.
 Ismoly 66 points
Of course not, otherwise it ll be necessary a very big propeller since it is 920 RPM /volt to garantee a good enough thrust to fly your airplane. Better option is choose a motor with higher Kv or use a 3 cell batery. Good luck!
 JelleB 478 points
*ismoly: what would be wrong exactly with a big propeller? Horse for courses, not one size fits all.

From the KV and weight specs, it looks more like a direct replacement for the eskay 400 that HL sells for their foamy yak..

the accessories are included?
 Kenyon 5 points
They include 4 screws and a mounting plate. You will need a prop adapter and whatever connectors you are using to connect to your esc.I would recommend SKU: AM1002A and PRODUCT ID: GON-D3T6. So far mine is working great!
H-KING_SCOTT  5160 points -

Apparently thats what the factory states.
I believe it's more a case of a factory copying something and getting it wrong.

Really, they are kidding! This engine would be definitively at the wrongest place if fitted in any EDF. Much better an ilnine, high RPM engine.

...But indeed, it may be great with a large propeller, such as 10x4
 websterphreaky 642 points
REALLY!??? Where do you see it stating that it's for an EDF??? I don't see that any where! This is an unbranded AXI 2212, they are made by Suppo (A2212/890). I have a Suppo branded one with gold anodized ends and it easily flys a 1/10 scale Extra with an APC 10x7sf = 118w, 11.8A on a 1500mAh 3S Impulse LiPO
SeaComms  207 points -

A 920kv motor advertised as EDF that will only run up to 10volts?? Thats only 9000 rpm give or take no load! My little EDF runs a 3800kv...

I tested the motor on a 8x6 APC prop and 3 cell lipo's, and it is comparable to similer sized outrunners.
It's not the best moter I've ever owned, but for the price definitly deserves 5 stars.
