How is this gyro compared to these ones? which one do you think is the best for a HK 450 GT PRO? If possible please provide detailed information for the differences between these gyros 1) Turnigy Head Lock & Standard Gyro (Digital/Analog) 2) HobbyKing GA-250 MINI-MEMS Gyro 3) Hobby King 401B AVCS Digital Head Lock Gyro 4) Assan GA-410 Tail Lock Gyro 5) BA Nano Gyro 2.3gram
I am building a camera gimbal for FPV with 3 servos to control 3 camera axis. I will control 2 axis with AUX channels (knobs) on my 10channel transmitter, but I want to control the 3rd (roll)axis with this gyro on another channel. I bought this gyro and connected it according to instructions to a small digital servo. When I roll the gyro around it's rotate axis, the servo just stutters - it doesn't roll with the gyro. I tried it on several different channels, including the Aileron channel, and tried the gyro gain at both ends and middle of the range. There is no mechanical load on the servo - I'm just holding the two in my hand.
The gyro manual suggests an RX-PG-03-Aileron Servo for roll compensation, but a) I haven't found that servo and b) I don't know whether that would make a difference. Is stuttering a symptom of a mismatched servo? I don't know.
I'm new to all this. I'd appreciate any clues. Thanks.
This gyro is mounted with the label parallel to the axis of rotation.
1) Connect the gyro 3 wire servo connector to the Aileron Channel of your Rx
2) Connect the aileron servo to the gyro (If you have dual aileron servos, you will have to use a Y splitter).
3) Connect the gyro gain wire (if it has one) to a spare channel on the Tx that uses a switch.
4) Turn on the Tx and then the Rx. Be careful not to move the gyro until it initializes (refer to your gyro manual to determine what indicates full initialization). Most gyros will blip the servo output or have an LED indicator that shows it is initialized.
5) If the Ailerons slowly drift to full difflection then you are in HH mode, flip the spare channel switch to put it into Rate mode.
6) Set the wing so that the front of the wing is facing the front of the plane.
7) Quickly Rotate the airplane to the left and hold it there(right bank). The right aileron should lift up then center itself again immediatly with a second. If it lifts up and stays there, you are in HH mode so flip the spare channel switch to put it into Rate mode. If it drops, then you need to reverse the gyro.Reversing the gyro is not done by reversing the Aileron Channel in the Tx. It is also not done by reversing the spare channel either. Gyro reversing is done by flipping a switch on the gyro (if it has one) or by rotating the gyro 180 degrees. In the case of the Aileron gyro, the part of the gyro that was facing the nose should be rotated to face the tail WITHOUT changing the direction of the face of the gyro that was pointing up. If you need to reverse it, do so then turn off the Rx power and perform steps 4-7 again.

Back then we didn't have head holding in our gyros and rate gyro was just great in those time for aerobatic and such. I have one of these gyro and if I wanted to build a 90 size scale helicopter I will use the gws rate gyro. It's way better rate gyro then back then when it was mechanical rate gyro. Inside had a real mecahnical gyroscope powered with a motor inside the gyroscope with little sensor.
