Dears, I would like to use 3s lipo and I'd better to change the prop as well. Please advise what exactly prop is available at HK and will do the job well. I am lost Many thanks

Folks, has anyone an experience of "watering" upside down? Does the motor survive after that? How about controllers, accumulators?

Any feedback would be much appreciated

Can we use 3S lipo with this motor and esc?

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement canopy (Coota Seaplane EPS 930mm) after it popped off and encountered the propeller? Thanks,

What about the flying time with different setup? Thank you
stefano  1 points - 1/21/2013

i find a wieght into the nose. it must stay there ? because when i put the lipo the nose fall down
 tataBulik 24 points
No, You can remove it. I use a little big battery for this model - 2S 1800mAh 40C. Just put the batery closer to CG, and it will fly great. Position of CG is as on almost all planes - 1/3 from wing leading edge plus few milimeters back because of position of pusher engine.

Does anyone know where spare parts can be found.
AaronP  13 points - 11/24/2012

Replacement motor? My stock motor is making a grinding noise, want to get a replacement. Can anyone help me find a replacement for the stock motor, using 8x4 prop, like 3c?
bakir  3 points - 11/19/2012

how do i take out the nose weight?
 AaronP 13 points
I had the same question, thought it was glued into the fuselarge. But worked out mine had fallen off in shipping, and was down the tail with servos. Can you see it? Seems like it should be just glued in, and pick it off with a screw driver.

can you use the motor on the coota on the hk swamp dawg as an upgrade???????

Can I use it as a Fpv plane? The camera in front of the motor mount and the transmitter on top? Are the flight characteristics good enough?
 Flyin´Rollan! 32 points
Absolutely no. I had one and it can´*t carry the extra weight of an FPV gear. I flown it with a keychain cam mounted and no problem, but nothing more or it won´*t fly. The plane flies fast and is easy to stall when slowed down, so landing has to be like a brick.
Try better the AXN clouds
Greetings!
 xl-racing 25 points
I've flown FPV on Coota, Yes its flew well with 5.8ghz Nano 200mw Vtx, Nano cams, 1S lipo for cam, external BEC, OSD and pan servo. Flown FPV on AXN, Bixler and Raptor but nothings beats the landing smoothness on Coota....oh made modification on the wing to create little flaps and turbulance generator to make it less wiggly during flying. Photos (Coota Banking): target=_blank>
 xl-racing 25 points
Uh..photo doesn't work...i'll compile a video soon for FPV on Coota.

 graybeard 25 points
Got mine s few months ago, nice little plane buy as with the real one it needs lots of dihedral, still a bit fast on the landings. I have had no problem with any of the gear on bourd and I am flying with a 3s 1500 battery and smaller 3 blade prop.......
 Andy2No 83 points
Just found this youtube clip. Turns out it is made by Art-Tech. The comments about the CG/battery size seems to be with the lead weight in the nose.
 Andy2No 83 points
Ok. Trying that link again...

Part 2 of that youtube review - mostly unboxing.
 Andy2No 83 points
Another good one. Great water landings and take-offs.

graybeard and every one thanks I wish there was some way to reward you ALL
 Destructor 162 points
GrayBeard I just order'd one of these, Are you running a 3 cell on the stock ESC because all I own is 3 Cell batts. I hope not to buy all different sizes so if I can run a 1000 or 1500 3 cell I would be stoked!
 Andy2No 83 points
****
 graybeard 25 points
Hi Guys, I try to keep things light, but the C of G is critical, I tried it on a 2200 3cell but found the 3 cell 1000 or 3 cell 1300 to be the best, running off water you need to make sure everything is sealed tight, and spray some water repellent over all the electrics, I have placed the receiver on the cabin bulkhead and tape down all around the "glass".
 Andy2No 83 points
I see my last post was deleted, for suggesting where you can find out more information about this plane.

Whichever ******* idiot at HobbyKing thinks that's a good policy, I salute you. Your level of stupidity is something other ******* idiots could only aspire to.
 Andy2No 83 points
Can you tell I'm a bit ******* annoyed? Does it show? You take the time to try to be helpful, and to try to promote more knowledge about one of their products and what do you get for it? ******* ****, that's what.

does the Turnigy 1800mAh 2S 30C Lipo Pack :http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewIte
m.asp?idProduct=9368 can
be in this plane???
 Gui Flyer 17 points
yes it can bye
 tataBulik 24 points
I have the same battery in this plane. It can fit - you have a lot of space in plane fuselage (you just need to move battery back because of CG position), but this battery is a little havy for this plane. I would buy next time max. 1500mAh 2C.
 Kellyann 16225 points
Gui Flyer thank you all
cookci  14 points - 5/8/2011

does anyone if 3 cell 2200MAH batteries will fit?

Also do the wings detach for transport?
 cookci 14 points
I only have 2200mah batteries though so would these work?
 __jcb 8 points
It will work, there is enough space. But be aware C.G. and weight.
Be sure to reinforce the bonding at the motor and assemblies at wings.
My Coota went to pieces in the air as the engine tore loose, and broke the wing off.
Usually it for 2 celled 1300mha, so the more turns the more tremors. Good luck with Cootaen.

Im running 3S 1600mah batteries. they fit well in the tray and balanced well without nose weight. BUT stock setup is for 2S, my ESC fried and cut power to everything, resulting in crash under power. if you use 3S, get bigger ESC and smaller prop. oh and dont hit water upside down, motor dont like getting wet... dont ask how I know
 BogdanN 14 points
The wings dont detach for transport, but its not very big so no need. There is an extra wieght in the nose of the plane that you can remove for the COG. in terms of Space, there is PLENTY of space for battery of any size. please consider using Velcro to fix the battery from moving in the cockpit

Is this the Art-Tech Coota? I bought the HK Pitts (4 aileron version), which turns out to be made by Art Tech.

Hi guys, motor died on mine. Whats a good replacement that HK sells? I am using 3S battery. Thanks
 Jae Hyung 1 points
I think you can use HEXTRONIK DT700 BRUSHLESS OUTRUNNER 700KV in this hobbyking site. I suppose that it would be a little bit more reliable. the spec is similar with original and the DT700 will be fine with 3S lipo battery.
pipercub  65 points - 3/17/2011

I'm thinking of getting this plane, i know it recommends a two cell but i'm thinking about going with a three cell for extra power, i'll be flying it mostly on water. Would the three cell be too much for the motor and esc or would i be ok? Also, what size should i go for?
 Aefer 233 points
yes you will need a bit bigger ESC and smaller prop. Im running a 40A ESC with a 6x4 pusher on a 1600mah 3S 30C battery. I used 3S with original setup, ESC overheated and cut power to Rx, which of course meant complete loss and powered itself into the ground. (wasn't pretty)

 pipercub 65 points
would you recommend the 3 cell setup over the 2 cell, you would get more thrust despite the smaller prop right?
 Aefer 233 points
It flies very happily with the smaller prop. 3/4 to full power to get off the grass (no wheels) then flies nicely at half power. it needs smaller prop because the added voltage makes the motor spin faster (more thrust) I imagine it would be about the same on 2 cell with stock setup. depends what you want to use
 roger123 121 points
i use the stock set up with no problem with a 3s 1500mah but a 1300mah will be better for the weigth
 Electric Power 466 points
I used a 3 cell 1250 and it flue great A stiffer smaller prop and it flies even better. I said flue because it is not EPO foam and doesn't like hard landings. Never put wheels on it never needed it, grass, water, snow ice not problem just leave a little power on when landing. Also wax the bottom of the plane it helps just a little

cant get this thing to seal i keep killing alerion servos cause they get wet. ive siliconed all around the hull but water still gets into the body any advice? im flying on salt water too

pack the aileron servo space with silicon grease. I fill the servo space around the control horn with grease. works well.

had a good flight today took off and landed from the grass no wheels.

WARNING
The magnets holding the canopy in place will not hold if it is ***py. Mine came off and went into the prop. Just tape to fix it but have since put velcro to hold it in place.

Got all the electrics working, new to this

OK, got my plane and after a long time got it to bind
QUESTION I got everything working but I can't get the ailerons to work. I try that Y plug and they just go to full turn and the servos are still making a nose like they want to turn more.. The radio came with zero papers as well as the plane.

Arrived last week and all looked fine, but I plugged in and the elevator servo was humming, after a few seconds it went on fire I quickly pulled the battery and the burning servo out, Im not sending it back as the freight costs to HK from New Zealand are too great, I have cut the burnt foam out and replaced the servo and it flies well, I have no counter weight and a 1800mah 2c battery and the COG is fine. all in all its a good kit but check your servos if you have any humming pull the power immediately and replace the servo, I gave it 2 stars instead of one because it flies well, looks good and is packaged well.

Got mine and man is it cheap. However some things that need to be done is make a rod to support the wings. Skewers will work, make sure your metal weight is still attached in the nose. And enjoy flying it. Handles well on water or grass. Steering is better than you'd expected with only the rudder. On wheels too..
