The A-6 Intruder was designed as an all weather ground attack aircraft and was the jet replacement for the legendary Douglas Skyraider, it has had a distinguished career, spanning 4 decades. This mini A-6 is Made from crash resiliant EPO foam it includeds 3 x 9g servos, 20A ESC and a mini yet mighty 50mm EDF fan unit and motor all pre-installed. All that is required to finish the model is your own transmitter/receiver (Tx/Rx), a 850mah 3s1p Lipo and around 45 minutes of build time.
it flies very good. Handlaunching is very easy because you can grip it on the CG position. Some other 50mm Nanos are more difficult to launch. The T-33 for example, flies good but it's not as easy as the A6 to launch.
The high-wing construction makes the A6 very stable and just fly without the tanks. It's lighter and faster without...Happy flying :-)
Did u try flying it ? Because I've seen on YouTube hk people facing problems while flying and not bein able to fly ! And reviews are not very good! I also have it on the way ! Please explain
I have the jet since two weeks. I saw the videos on YouTube too and had my doubt. But the doubt was unnecessary! Don't care about the bad HK-pilots *-) I fly it with a zippy 1000mAh 3S 25c and 8g in the nose because it was tail-heavy. Maybe with tanks this config must be changed. But as I said before, I fly without tanks.
If I have time today or tomorrow I can make a video to show you the amazing flight characteristics.
Oops I saw that my video is not embedded...but you can watch it if you click my nickname. CG is in the middle of the ail-servos.It's the same as recommended in the manual. But it's subjectively. In my opinion it should be 3-4mm more to the front because it was a little tail-heavy and I prefer always a neutral or a nose-heavy plane. Just try out and have fun :-)
In spite of a lot of advice about cg, the manual is correct at 139mm from intake lip. I got this with a Turnigy 1000mAh 20C 3s sitting flat and as far forward as possible. cg should be mid-servo. Also, sand out the outlet a bit to get it nice and smooth, and keep the throttle on. Needs a good, hard throw to get going too. Stalls like a dog if you're not careful and nose dives to the ground. The EPO softens a lot on impact too. Good plane, but know what to expect before you buy it.
Argh, I thought I had this plane figured out... I swapped the smaller battery for a 1600 and doesn't affect the performance. I got about 15 flights between a crash. However it's just not fast enough. Full throttle is still just faster than stall speed, and a turn can make it stall. I'm going to order a new fan, as the latest crash destroyed the rather brittle stock unit.
No, this plane is not good for beginners. It doesn't glide when you turn the power off and is fairly lively in the air. I recommend clicking on the 'Beginner/Trainer' link under planes and buying a Tuff Trainer, a J3 Cub or a Bixler.
This was my first EDF its harder to fly then a bigger EDF so if your gonna buy a EDF get a bigger sized one get the hang of that and then try one of these there very fun to fly if you have flown edf's before.
If u want an EDF trainer ger a Meteor 70mm EDF jet or SportsJet 70 they have near 1m wingspans are crash resistant and in the Meteors case u can run a 3cell batt for first ever flights a 4 cell once u can land ok and a 5 cell for speed by the u have save for an alloy edf housing and u can run the Meteor rest of gear all stock on 6cell for warp speed. *} Personal experience applies see my vid in meteors vid tab. HTH
YEA DUD guess what its on it way on the table in the very near future ,there are plans of one about in the 1300MM rang, i cant wieght to see it i heard its going to be the stolies vodka , its red with the traidmark of STOLIES VODA.SO COOL
I really hope so. The B-17 and the intruder are two of my favorite planes. Hard to imagine the lifting capability of the real plane as being able to carry the weight of more than 6 family size cars at once in any weather any time.
I just got mine in the mail. I unpacked everything and my tail and wing sections were warped. I have never had a problem like this from Hobbyking. I have opened up a support ticket for it, we'll see what happens. I expect that I will get replacement parts for it very soon.
how can this have good exhaust flow with the exhausts so far apart and not on the axis line of the fan? just looks very inefficient, not to mention the looks of the thing
"Mustang Sally" must not have a good experience with 50mm EDF - just flown my small panther and it went vertical out of my hand with a 1000mah 20c Turnigy - very impressive and far from ineffective. Takes off from the grass as well(I must admit, I was very sceptical of them until I flew one)
Check out the youtube video of a navy flight crewman getting sucked in to one of those "cheeks"... the real A-6 didn't mess around!!!

It wouldn't kill them to at least look semi scale... the cockpit is all wrong, the intake is rediculous, on both of the mini jets. If you need to use a 50 edf then make the plane bigger. If you can't make it light enough for a 40 edf then don't make it this scale. 350g flying weight for a 60cm WS? really?
It seems odd this currently is averaging 4 of 5 stars yet I've heard of anyone flying one successfully. Sounds like there are major cg issues. I would love to have an A-6, but I'd also like to fly it.

I have just recieved mine in the mail. This is an entire level above anything I have bought from HK in the aircraft line before. It is painted and presented to perfection. It is far larger than it looks in the photo series above. Perhaps we could go back to the time when you had a model assist in the presentation? It would certainly assist, as measurements never seem to marry up. I bought this to be a dinky throw away introduction to EDF. Now I do not want to fly it because it is so good looking. Great work HK, I do not know where you are finding these things but keep it up.

i put this A6 together and used the thin flowing glue from Hk and it worked fine. dries overnight. nice looking plane when it's all done. got all the servos and flaps dialed in and ready to go. used a HK 6ch spektrum rx (without shrink tube) on this model. 11.1, 25 to 50C, nano tech, 850 mah. i had pushed the lipo all the way into the nose and taped it down, placed the cover on, and checked CG. all apeared RTF. thre it into the wind and took off nicely. banked left down wind and noticed it was nose heavy. banked left again to head into the wind and the nose was obviously too heavy. CG was OFF which i beleive is what brought it down beisdes my pilot skill error. destroyed, nose first into the road. i hope to glue back together, but it looks like a tough job by the damages.. LOL Check your CG and make sure your servo rods are locked down in the flap pins.

I got my Intruder few days ago. The parts were well packed. The paint job is good, but and this is the negative point, both wings are seriously bended. Hopefully it can by fixed with a "hairdryer".
With straigth wings, the kit would be a 5

Great kit! I had a Kyosho A6 Intruder before hand (crashed - very underpowered stock setup!) and because of that I had a sentiment to this fat pigeon looking like plane.
Saying that this kit is FAAAAR more better then the kyosho one for less then half the price - plus it's EPO foam so it doesn't require any fiberglass belly reinforcments.
Great kit, great looks and very well thought off (especially the component and wiring compartments etc).
The maiden is tomorrow - however my only concern is - the ESC is advertised as 20A but I did tests on a nice 1600mah 3S battery from Hyperion I use for other models and it pulled 270watts which is roughly 25A?
Anyone experienced problems here?
