This tiny Mig 15 is amazing, EPO foam combined with it's featherweight stats means it will be very forgiving of the odd less than 100% landing. The 35mm Fan Unit & ESC are pre-installed as are the aileron and elevator servo's, the model comes in 1 piece so all you have to do when it arrives is connect the control rods, hook up the RC equipment to a Reciever that uses Micro Molex 3 Pin conectors, such as the HobbyKing OrnageRX 4 Channel Micro reciever and you are ready to go...... where were we? Ah yes, Dogfighting with the new Micro F-86 Sabre in the local park, basketball court, in fact pretty well anywhere, these models are an absolute hoot when flown with friends!
The box the model arrives in is really handy for not only transporting the model to prevent hanger rash but the spare pockets in the packing foam are ideal for carrying spare Lipoly's and you will have so much fun with this, I would carry a few! This Mig is so cute, even your Wife will like it!
Specs: Wing Span: 390mm Length: 390mm Flying Weight: 95g EDF: 35mm with 9000kv Brushless Outrunner Motor ESC: 6A w/BEC Servo: 3 x 2g
Features: Optional Drop Tanks Magnetic Canopy & Fan Hatch Pre-Installed Control Horns
Those pushrods shouldn't be bending, should transfer the force directly to the control rod, pushing the control surface. I think the elevator hinge is too stiff, take the push rod out and bend the elevator a few times back and forth to exercise the hinge. If that doesn't solve the problem, you may need to reinforce the pushrod by install pushrod guides to keep them in place. Good luck hope this solves your problem!
Let's see what batteries HobbyKing suggest for this item: Zippy Weight: 21g Dimensions: 40x20x15mm... And a Turnigy Weight: 27g Dimensions: 63x32x9mm. I guess you can use same to Zippy for sure. Hope that helps.
Hi Anikeev, Thanks for the reply. I did the same research and found it irritating. I had more often the problem that HK suggested a battery and then the format was changed or one had problems to fit them in. Further down somebody wrote 500mAh 2s will never fit. According of the second dimensions you have specified Zippy compact 2s 500mAh 25C should fit. I own these batteries already and was wondering if the will fit definitely without modifications.
Yes, you can. It uses only 4 chanels, but you will probably need to change connectors from molex to standard. That shouldn't be a problem. You can even solder wires directly to the RX if you don't want to deal with connectors. Hope that helps.
IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO BUY, DO NOT KNOW HOW THE BRAZILIAN STILL BUY HERE!
MODEL PRICE OF $ 39.99, THE SHIPPING $ 39.45 (ALMOST THE PRICE OF THE ITEM). HE IS TRANSPORTED BY CHINA POST. I BUY DIRECT FROM CHINA AND THE SITES THEY HAVE FREE SHIPPING BY CHINA POST. BECAUSE THAT?!?!
ASSIM FICA DIFÍ*CIL COMPRAR, NÃ*O SEI COMO OS BRASILEIROS AINDA COMPRAM AQUI!
PREÇ*O DO MODELO $39,99, O FRETE $39,45 (QUASE O PREÇ*O DO ITEM). ELE É* TRANSPORTADO PELO CHINA POST. EU COMPRO DIRETO DOS SITES DA CHINA E ELES TEM O FRETE GRÁ*TIS PELO CHINA POST. PORQUE ISSO?!?!
Websites that offers free shipping sell items with price that already included shipping fee, so if you order more than one item you'll spend more money (because multiple orders can be packed in one parcel at hobbyking).Shipping fee calculated by weight and size. You can also buy something more with the same shipping price. Weight that you can add shows when checkout. Hope that helps.
Connect your ailerons, rudder, elevator and the wire from the ESC to the proper spots on the TH9 receiver, check your COG, Calibrate the ESC throttle range, put in a battery and give it a throw. Also if this is your first plane then plan on crashing it many times before you get it to fly. Is that the info you needed. That is all very basic stuff so not sure if that is the answers you need or not??
Hello,
I have recently got the HobbyKing HK6S 2.4Ghz FHSS 6Ch radio, will the listed Rx unit work with this? If not which, Rx with molex would work with my HK6S?
Thanks
Sorry, no, and I believe no other Rx for that is available with molex. BUT, you can get adapters that will allow you to use your Tx/Rx, but it will add some excess weight on this very little plane. Search here for "Female Molex 1.25 to Male JR Servo Extension". You will need at least 3, maybe 4 of them (depending on the aileron setup).
Forget about this radio, you need a micro RX with molex, something like a FrSky VD5M, that is 1.5g. The available RX for this radio are too big and too heavy. You can get a 9x or 9xr with a FrSky module, you will not regret it. The radio is the most important part for RC fly properly. Cheaper then 9x or 9xr is just too much ****y
Dont add any dead weight, this is a micro airplane every gram will count and make a difference ... just move around the battery or get a bigger battery
Nothing wrong with a bit of dead weight if it improves the c of g and makes the plane fly better,a bigger battery is preferable but if you cannot fit something bigger then dead weight it has be.I have the Zephyr with the largest battery possible but still needed some lead in the nose, flies beautifully.
On the bottom of the spec sheet it recommends an Orange RX. If you already on a Spectrum Radio for example you may just pop in the RX that came with it. Add a battery, bind it and youre good to go.
Hi Folks!
I just put mine together -here some hints:
1. Check the EDF ! After a few throttle tests mine losts the fan. (I used some threadlock and CA to fix it)
2. if you wnat to use Nano-Techs, i.e. the 370mah/2s you have to cut out some foam under each side of the canopy because its quite a bit (2-3mm or ~1/8" for the imperial ones *) ) too large, anyway it puts the CG almost well.
Regards Fame
It requires a receiver with molex type sockets like the Orange R415.If you use this receiver then you will need a Turnigy 9X with Orange 2.4ghz DSM2 module. You will then need a 2cell 350mah battery and a suitable charger.
I BOUGHT this and when i connected the lipo (2S) the esc burnt up, so i hooked up my other esc and the nano rx not spectrum brand but (DSM2)would get hot SO I HAD TO DISCONNECT IT,so what is wrong with this thing ANYONE?
it can fly relitivly slowly for a jet of its size but you would need a very large indoor area to fly if you wanted to fly indoors as its slowest speed is still pretty fast in reality this thing just cant be flown indoors
ive been looking at getting this plane and i was wondering two things 1-How much of a speed boost do you get from a 3s over a 2s 2- will a 3s even fit and if so any sugestions
The speed boost should be incredible compared to 2S. (one cell makes a big difference!) For 3S you will need to replace your ESC so it wouldn't burn out.
its very hard to fit a 2 cell i have a 350 2s and i had to cut out the front a bit to fit the lipo way up front just to balance it out , i dont even think you will be able to fit a 3 cell. (buy the my esc blow up after a coulpe times. so im going to chang it ,i have a 7or 9 amp esc im going to place in it .
You can add a 3 cell but you have to carve out foam to do so. The biggest I jammed in there was an 850mah Thunder power G6! :-))
Got it flying at 82mph!!!
One of my aileron servos is damaged by a rough landing.
Has anyone ever changed this to wing-top control?
Which servo should I buy?
The HK-282A Single-Screw 2gram seems to be the closest match.
But I am considering going smaller with the smaller orange case 1.7gram one: HK-5320
It is rated weaker torque, but it is "digital".
How about using two of these 1.7g servos to control each elevator half with a more direct linkage...
Has anyone improved on the stock elevator pushrod arrangement? It's really weak. Partly due to tube friction, partly due to rod bending, but I think MOSTLY due to the way the two tubes are near the servo horn carrying two Z-bent rods causing the binding.
To improve the elevator push rods just glue a support to the side of the tail. It helps improve the response a lot over the stock set up. I just glued tiny bits of drinking straws to the sides of the rudder.
i tryed it place a 3s but its very hard to place it ,as it is i had to carve out some of the fron compartment to place the 2cell, im running a 350maH I THINK IT IS. You have to chang the esc if you do and carful of the motor also.
Where can i get a new fan blade!? I blew mine while experimenting... http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/images/em_p arty.gif I need one badly! Thanks.
The supplied ESC is a 2S 6A unit. It will fry on 3S. Some of these 35mm jets are drawing over 8A on 3S. A Turnigy Plush 10A speedie works great on 3S with the installed/stock motor.
See my UT video of my Mig 15 maiden on 3S Plush ESC and stock motor. www.link
I've ordered mine already. :-)
Like most over at rcgroups - I've been waiting a long time for these to hit the market. I am so looking forward to hopping this up to see what one can get out of it in the way of performance. I plan to start with an AEO 35mm EDF case and play with as mixture of motors and rotors to see what works best on 3S and a nice reducing tailpipe if it isn't built into the fuse. I hope the wings are strong enough or some CF rods for re-enforcing might be in order!
Manual recommended CG is 43mm back from front of wing root. This puts it about 3 mm behind where the AILE servo wires meet the fuselage.
Some people on RCG mentioned the servo wires being the correct CG.
I would like to hear about the best CG that you guys have used before I maiden it. Please contribute!

I just received my Micro Mig and decided a power upgrade was in order. I've decided to shoe-horn in a Alloy 70mm EDF running on a 5000 4S lipo. 1197 watts and 2KG of thrust. I've replaced all servos with metal gear servos just to be safe and added some carbon in the wing. Never can be to sure with these Migs. I also recommend using some dry lubricant on the elevator rods to allow smoother movement. Should fly nicely. I'll get some video as soon as I can.

Well HK got it wrong again. The connectors on these little plane are NOT Micro JST. Neither the micro or mini as used on the Spektrum AR 6400 and AR6300 respectively. They have used the tiny Molex connector that is on the Futaba and Fly Dream micro receivers. Half way in size between the JST micro and mini.
Good news - it is the correct wiring polarity to plug straight into the FlyDream (I don't have a Futaba Rx to check ). These are the same connectors used on the HobbyKing 2.2 g servos.

Ok, so I got mine today, worst glue job I've ever seen. Hysterically asymmetrical. The rudder was literally about a 45 degree angle off from the wings, which weren't at all straight in respect to each other. I've had to rip parts off and reglue, there's already creases in the foam. Very irritating. Just the most incompetent assembly I could imagine. I've had enough skyangels now that I thought I knew what to expect, but this was way worse than the 50mms. Not remotely in flyable condition. I'd much rather it come as a kit and let me glue these parts on PROPERLY. Once I have it flyable I'll try to post another review, and I'm sure my opinion will change. But bad show from SkyAngel this round so far!
