The FW190D or "Dora" as it was nicknamed was the Long Nose variant of the FW190A "Butcher Bird", without doubt, one of the finest fighters of WW2. The long nose came from the substitution of the original BMW radial engine for the water-cooled Jumo engine in order to improve high level performance, which was achieved with a slight loss in low level maneoverability. Although intended for high level bomber interception, fighters had become in such short supply by the time the FW90D was available, squadrons equipped with the "D" were mainly used in fighter to fighter combat.
The Hobbyking FW190D has a superbly moulded and tough EPO airframe that features an amazing amount of detail for a parkflyer and if that wasn't enough, the extensive moulded plastic parts, including the air intake, guns, exhaust stubs, retracted tail wheel and so on really finish of this wonderfully scale little model. This "Dora" is so nice, we have even included a display stand that plugs into the joiner for the carbon fibre wing spar!
Unlike some models in mini class, this 190D is capable of more than just scale flight, the pre-fitted brushless motor has plenty of power for fighter like climb-outs and aerobatics, the pre-fitted servo's are a perfect match for this superb flying mini warbird which boasts full 4 channel control making it capable of so much more than mere bank & yank flying. This is an exclusive Hobbyking design & production model of an amazing aircraft and it performs as good as it looks, it is a must for any warbird enthusiast, especially at this price!

Does anyone know where I could get a spare propeller? Does the micro me109's propeller work good with this? Or what about master airscrew 7x6 propellers? ( Sorry for being nooby!)
Looking at the specs on this, its not really a slow flyer, and the flying characteristics of the fw-190 is definitely not geared towards beginners.. so i would recommend something like the anx floater jet, or the hobby king tuff trainer. www.link
I dont think it is a begginer plane, because if it was, it would be on the begginer-plane section. For good begginer planes, look at the begginer section.
Jason, I got mine today and i think about placing Lipo and Rx just under the canopy, making one small hole in the foam for the servo cables. Will check it how the CoG will fit...
Looks like I was wrong. The d-11 version of the 190 retained the outboard cannons. 17 of this version were produced before the adoption of the d-13. So this model is most certainly a FW-190D-11.
Dear HK. You often offer models without electrics. Can we please have some un-paineted ones, ( perhaps with a generous selection decal sheet)Time and money you save on paint/time could be spent on decal sheets. Removing and re-sticking decals is not always strait forward. Am I the only one thinking along these lines?
Hey Fanny - I'm with you. There's nothing worse than a warbird with a very innacurate paint scheme - even at this scale. Dear HK, it's great that you have modelled a D9, but if you can't get the paint scheme at least a little bit accurate, please supply an unpainted version.
Stuka is a couple of weeks away because we had issues with the power system and had to change to a more powerful motor. Ben and Scott test all planes before release now so you wont get a lemon.
That is good news Anthony and i might just have to get this butcher bird (FW-190)as well as the Stuka when she comes in,i just hope i'm quick enough off the mark because that one will sell like hot cakes *-)
A 3 blade would look nice but unfortunately because it's a 'belly lander' you would just keep braking props :( that's why it's a 2 blade :) also 3 blade props don't perform as well I recon??
You need something in the photos for scale.. The stand makes this plane look smaller than it should. It looks like one of those mini indoor fliers, and this is not that.. I recommend this video so you can see how it flies. www.link
Except wheels, this one should not be a belly lander, considering it comes with a tail wheel. And to fit little retracts would be horrible job if you could find any that small.
Mine is ready to fly, a 1300mAh 2S seems to fit, until my HK 1000 nano techs arrive. Does anyone have tips for the first hand launch, as the spitfire wobbles a bit on take off?
Well after a good flying session it really does need more power, looks gorgeous in the air and keep the elevator throws down. Will report on the power upgrade shortly.
I had same issues in my plane it was very hard to get into air. I solved problems with new better outrunner, i fly plane whit 3s 450mA battery and it's need some weigth into nose.
I still like the look of the aircraft, but the flying, even with an upgraded motor is marginal. My flying buddy has the Spitfire version, and much to my dismay it flies far better.

The Fw 190 arrived no damage packed well but mine was missing several screws ( wing mounting and elevator joiner) some servo screws I had on hand did the trick. Model is well made and finished and only takes a few mins to assemble, I was intending to use 800 2s but as the wing is small and thin I test flew with 460 2s . It flies very well with this setup but flights are only a few mins, this could be also my 460s are past their best and the conditions were not the best for a small model. I would recommend 500 2s as a good easy fly setup. Well done again HK

To add to my first comments have since flown in some calm weather and with 2s 800 turnigy with great results, handles the bigger battery with ease flies very well all things considered, would like a tadd more power, launches and lands easily, loops and rolls no problem

Picked it up today from german customs office (damn..) , package was ok, nothing damaged, plane is smaller than i thougt, weight is incl. spektrum-like-orange Rx 256 gr. with the 800 mAh Turnigy Lipo exactay 302 gr. Considering to place Rx and Lipo in the upper room just under the removable cockpit canopy, so pushing the ESC in the lower room just behind the motor- will check it tomorrow how it fits with the recommended CoG which is 45 mm behind wing's leading edge. Unfortunately, there were only 5 cross insignia attached, the 6. one for the left side of fuselage is missing, as shown on HK's fotos, too. strange..

Sweet looking plane and the colour scheme is better than expected with deeper colours. A good looking model, with a nice smooth finish and with only a few components to assemble. Total time was about 45 minutes with few adjustments Have attached a few pics A few minor points: 1)Mine was missing the 2 main screws that are used to attach wing to fuselage. Lucky I had some others that did the job 2)The horizontal stab wire connector was a little off line so needed packing near the control horn 3)Where the horizontal stab goes through the fuse is a very tight fit. To get it to seat correctly had to gently ease 2mm foam at the rear to accomadate wire connector. 4) My foam spinner was off in the box and is not true so will add another. 5) Cut new access holes so RX could be located in top of fuselage and a second hole for a better position for battery wire.
Note: The battery area is a tight fit and would only take a 2s 500mAH battery without "adjustment" Have a couple of 800 & 850s but will need to remove some foam.
With everything in place CG worked out as per manual.
Raining/windy here so will have to be patient for a maiden flight

Having flown this model a dozen times, yesterday i dismantled the motor because the propeller shaft was slightly bend - and figure that, the weight of the motor (with heavy steel bell) alone was 61 (!) grams, the 10A ESC was on 29 grams, both being 89 grams - very heavy. I ordered a motor with 1500 kV and a Rhino Lipo 3s /610 mAh being only 50 grams and hope to replace it with much more power and saving 30 grams. Can't wait to test fly it !

We have flown this superb little warbird loads during development, not only does it look great it flies great, the display stand is a really nice touch and I'm sure the rest of the household won't mind your new FW190 living on top of the TV!
