The DH Beaver is of course famous for its STOL capability, load capacity and general ruggedness and fans of the Beaver will be pleased to see this larger version of our popular 40" kit.
This nicely made ARF is a pleasure to build and features a removable wing, easy access magnetic battery hatch, large lightweight wheels, steerable tail wheel and so on. A choice of motor mounts come with the kit as does a very comprehnsive hardware kit. This model being a little bigger means of course it will cope with the wind just that little bit better but either size Beaver is perfect for those calm, relaxing days at the field.
I need help!
My Dad bought this kit and I can't figure out why we have to space the motor out 7/8" to clear the front of the cowl. The Park 480 mounted motor looks the same as the photo in item 13 in the manual. Same motor, prop adapter. etc...
What are we doing wrong?
Thanks.
Hello all! I just bought this plane, im planning on buying the Turnigy park480 1020kv, blue HK 30amp esc and 3s 2200 pack. How do I go about picking the right size prop?
I received a poor quality the subject in the box and have not assembled. Instruction Manual indicates 60mm behind the leading edge measured at the wing meets the fuselage.
Naw, the cowl was dirty and lacked prep (cleaning). The paint is cracked and spider webbed over the dirt in the places where it is falling off and lacks adhesion in others. I should have saved the flakes. There was no shipping damage, all box's in good shape.
The wings, covering was not sealed properly around the perimeter before the interior covering was shrank, as a result wrinkles are permanent and will not shrink out.
The fuselage, areas where to much heat may have been applied producing distorted edges on most of the trim lines, or perhaps they were just cut that way.
Is very much a shame because the construction of the air frame, the fit of components appears to be of good quality.
I know it's just a cheap little arf and I certainly did not expect average quality but these issues are not reasonable.
Well Nick, one can maybe understand the imperfections in the covering, its all done on a production line, and not near the care that you and I would use is present, but the thing with the cowl and the other dirty parts, they have entire bins of those things, "why didn't somebody just pitch the dirty one and replace with a clean?" Sounds like some tightening up needs to happen in production.
I was going to mention Leon, I believe this to be a pnp model, if you stay with the recommended battery and motor, the C.G. is "predetermined for you" It will not be a issue, just make sure all control links are installed properly and not slopy or loose, but at the same time move freely
My dear collegues There is a misunderstanding, i am trying to find out the COG of the beaver dhc 2 but the former model of hobby King. DHC-2 Beaver (Bush Plane) STOL EP ARF
DHC-2 Beaver EP ARF Famous for its super short STOL**, the DHC Beaver is a fun and easy plane to fly. A quality balsa and laser-cut plywood construction make this plane very light. Coupled with a 30 size outrunner and a 9~10 inch slowfly propeller and you will have the Beaver performing near stationary takeoffs and super slow 3 point landings. SPECIFICATIONS Wingspan: 40 in Length : 28.2 in Weight : 29 oz Wing area : 210 sq in Motor : 30-xx size outrunner (Not included) Servo : 3 x 9g
Plane arrived in good condition. All parts were present. Covering and airframe look sharp. I used HD1160 servos which were a drop in as servo bays are cut out larger than 9g size. Motor used is Park480 size with a 40A ESC. 2200 ma battery gives about 10 min flight using some throttle management. Does loops but rolls slow with the short barn door ailerons. Handles wind okay. Nice looking model.

Arrived fast! 2 days to my door. Kit was in perfect condition, missing nothing. Motor: Exceed Rocket-3015-1035kv (reversed shaft and used 3/4" standoffs from ace hardware to allow the prop to clear the cowl) Esc: 40 amp 3 amp bec Prop Master airscrew electric 8x6 Servos: I used 9g servos (had to make adaptors because the servo cutouts were to large for 9g servos). You will need 2 300mm servo extensions and a y adaptor. Battery: 2200 3s zippy, gives 10 min of scale flying. This plane flys great, take off require good ground speed before liftoff to avoid a wing dip untill you build airspeed, landings are easy, floats back to earth with minimal effort. Great ARF KIT!

I built this using the recommended Motor/Batt/ESC and I used a 9x7 3-bladed prop. The balance poing of 60 mm behind the LE of the wing leaves the model tail heavy. I added weights to the nose get it to 60MM, but I'll try to add more to move it to 55MM and see what happens. The build is easy and everything in the kit is perfect. My main problem with flying is the Adverse Yaw. When I try to use the ailerons only to turn it is sooo bad that on left aileron, the model corkscrews to the right! I almost crashed it before I realized what was happening and then used rudder to make my turns. I'll bet I can tie the rudder to the aileron to fix the problem. Maybe it is tied to the CG location that is making it worse, but I have NEVER had a plane do this before. Overall it is a beautiful plane that once it's set up properly should be a great addition to your collection.

The plane came in about two weeks all the parts was their
Easy to put together in about one day , the test flight was great , need a little up elevator but other than that it fly great . I use a 9 7prop, 40amp esc and 3s lipo and a GH2215-15 out runner from Grayson hobby , more than enough power for this plane.....
