thanks for the info I use batteries that size in other planes I fly. Maybe i will go with a smaller jet just easier to get it to the field.
Tartago  482 points - 8/19/2012

It's a pity the weight exceeds the postal limit. I can't get it. :-(
Surgerypending  64 points - 7/9/2012

Can it be hand launched?
 Lauronha 7 points
I truly belive that it cant be hand launched due to its size and weight, the EDF needs rotation and speed to achieve its high performance. Makes sense? Best regards
 KaosKane 1430 points
I agree Tarmac Trundle or Bungee launch u need fast air over the control surfaces and unlike a big prop u get no air over the control surfaces direct from the prop.
 Electric Power 466 points
wings that size and almost 7 lbs no way I would try a hand launch
Piddos  5 points - 4/28/2012

Does anyone have a example of retracts that will fit this plane?
 SMPRC 103 points
Search for HKS-1106. This is the perfect, drop-in fit retract system. You would use the struts & wheels supplied in the MiG kit instead of the ones in the picture of the retract units.

 KaosKane 1430 points
This appears to be a FlyFly plane if so there is a metal trunion'd servoless retract unit will bolt in using the stabdard fittings including the metal frames shown in pic 6 u glu the metal frame in very strongly and the retracts bolt into it HTH
 micro flyer 38 points
The problem with part # HKS-1106 is that its for 3mm shaft and this plane needs 4mm. Product # 107000057 would probaly work better.
 KaosKane 1430 points
Yes ur correct i drilled the 1mm out, it was so quick i forgot i did it. Thanks for picking up on it. for U

Does anyone know if the wing is removable? Would love one of these but might be a chore to get it to fit into the car!!
 T35 VAMP 19 points
6 screws hold the wing to the fuse, 3 each side but there's not much support between them. I'm going to be adding a C/F spar though mine as there's a vid on you tube of one folding its wings in flight!

 Goody63 90 points
Thanks for that!!
 Walou 53 points
Does anyone have any flight experience with this bird yet ? do the wings really fold in normal flight ? is the correct CG easy to achieve ?

Is this plane really EPO? Looks like EPS!

first picture from the right, front landing gear looks flimsy, 3rd picture from the right front landing gear look's like casting, so, which one do we get??
 Stomp 34 points
Gear you get is the third from the right... cast and sprung, and pretty sturdy too.

a step in the right direction HK. 120mm foamy, here we come!
 Kellyann 16228 points
zaskarkid so you want a larger ducted fan. 90mm is large. 120mm is huge. 1.5 m is a large plane. SO YOU WISH bigger. COOL

 zaskarkid 343 points
huge foamy needs huge fan
 Kellyann 16228 points
zaskarkid but how much bigger can we go 1500mm. Does foam last forever. I fly plane my dad made over 40 years. Balsa film paper dope silk. Some daggie some rebuilt or recovered. But I have never heard of a 20 year old foamy???????????

Question to HK. Please, you can KIT divide on two small "Extra Length Cardboard Box and Packing", and ship to Kazakhstan or other countries.
 KaosKane 1430 points
if u believe the half package will be any smaller in dimensions than the full package u will be dissapointed the two packages would be equal size as one wing in each box sets minimum volume. or one for wings and one for fusil is the same as the fusil length is looong HTH so splitting into two will not get it to you
 F100CUFFLINK 887 points
THEY just have to part up the fuse , like fly fly kits do then it would be only a bit smaller in this case ,but still a lot to ship out.
 KaosKane 1430 points
u could always cut it into whatever combo of size and number make the best vale and buy lots of Cyano and epoxy and HK fiber tape lol *} i reckon 8 parcels would lower th average volume but u coulalways slice it into 4mm wide laminates and send it like a flat poster. After re gluing the 4mm laminates the plane would be a lot stronger too lol
 zombee2 14 points
It is possible to send. The size of a box of the manufacturer 1085x350x565mm = 1085 (350 565) *2 =2917 and weight of 6585 the Maximum standard for EMS: no more than 4999 g. at length of 1000 mm and to the maximum size of 3600 mm. The box of the manufacturer corresponds to maximum size, no corresponds to length and weight. I have looked at the instruction on assemblage and model drawings. According to, the general sizes of model we have: 1. One wing and a quarter of a fuselage is entered in a square 980 х* 560 х* 120 mm. The size of a box can be 1000 х* 700 х* 300 mm (1000 (700 600) х* 2 = 3600 mm). Two wings enters. Between wings it is possible to put rudder and elevator. However there is a risk of damage of wings at transportation. 2. The fuselage consists of two parts in the size: 935 х* 240 х* 240 mm and 640 х* 240 х* 240 mm. The maximum permissible size of a box for EMS: 1000 х* 600 х* 400 (1000 (600 400) х* 2 = 3000) or for Parcel a mail two boxes on 1050 х* 40 х* 40. The fuselage and other details enters. There is a question on ship cost.
 zombee2 14 points
sorry, the correct size for Parcel a mail two boxes on 1050 х* 400 х* 400
 KaosKane 1430 points
Fair enough u have done ur homework so i support u two packages to pay postage on will still be half the price of LHS

Does anyone know if this has the new version 90mm unit in it? I heard the new ones are good... and the old ones are weak power rubbish.
 F100CUFFLINK 887 points

Which electric retracts fit this plane?
 OldFartFlyer 1319 points
You have some good choices on this site. For a start, OR011-01701 if you have suitable servos. Maybe OR011-01804 will suit your pocket. Or alternatively, look up DSR-46T for servoless solution, if you feel the model warrants the cost.
 4stripes 118 points
Only the Flyfly/HTG type will "bolt right in" to the supplied mounts. However with some work you can install some that will handle the 3.7kg flying weight.
 SMPRC 103 points
HKS-1106 is the perfect bolt-in retract set. Do a search for it here on this site.
Gál  2 points - 2/18/2012

Box size:110.4cm x 35.3cm x 57cm no comment :(
 KaosKane 1430 points
Wow what a nice box size not to big not to small just right for a MIG
zombee2  14 points - 2/18/2012

I think that the manufacturer can make a fuselage of two parts, and HK to divide one complete set on two parcels. It will be magnificent for all.
 F100CUFFLINK 887 points
yes i have the fly fly F4 and it came in 2 or 3 parts of fuse, THIS IS JUST WAY BIG OF a jet, but thats nice if they could ship it .

SO whats the consensus is the wing removable? Looks like not removable to me. HK can you let us know plz.
 Stomp 34 points
After doing some research I found out that the wing is attached with six screws and comes off for transport. Google Hobby Topgun Mig-15 for videos and more info. Now how do I give myself credit :) Looks like it needs spars to reinforce wings so they dont fold but all in all looks good... so its ordered
 koren9 15 points
I added the manual in under "Files" , the wing is removable .
Icepic  34 points - 2/18/2012

WoW 91$ shipping to germany.... ****>german warehouse plz.
 F100CUFFLINK 887 points
think its worth it ,its foam jet, you can get a real nice composite jet for what you can buy this for.At least in the USA

Flying weight is 3100g but shipping weight is 6585g? C'mon HK!!
 snappy 2294 points
weight
 zombee2 14 points
As always with the Soviet planes. After assemblage throw out the brick... :)
 snappy 2294 points
Weight x Volume postage calculations
 aerofox9 13 points
The value of transport is more expensive than the plane, do not believe that after him montato'll get to that weight, HK can improve the value of transport.
Tartago  482 points - 2/17/2012

It's a pity that size/weight restrictions makes this beast unavailable for anyone. :-(
 Leadfoot 17 points
No issues having it sent to Canada.... I know, I already ordered mine!
slickable3  24 points - 2/17/2012

i want to order one but they wont ship it to me because of length 1085 but is able to ship 1500 weight 6585 but your able to ship 6999 the only thing is total size 2917 and are max is 2850 that makes no sences and not fare hk you have to fix this i want one bad before they run out pleas
 markonjam 17 points
It's not HK limitation, the postal services have their own rules, HK can't change. You could get it shipped but at the shipping costs noone is willing to pay.
 markonjam 17 points
For my country, Slovenia, European Union, they offer EMS shipping only, but the price is $114.79 just for shipping! I live near Austria, so sometimes I order to a postal office there, in this case the shipping for this item is SingPost AirParcel 7kg / 7-21Days $103.99, so almost no difference. If you live next to a EU country, order it there and go pick it up.
 lobstermash 266 points
It is HK's fault, because these sort of things should be send out to the local warehouses rather than just the Int.
 unleaded 163 points
really and how many would they send to each wharehouse (limited number available) If you really want it you pay for it try living in Australia and having stuff shipped all the way here
 Herkalees 420 points
unleaded, you do realise we are closer to Hobbyking than nearly everyone else?
 Junkers Jumo 158 points
We might be closer, but the cheapest shipping option for this to Aus is US $98! Suddenly not a cheap option anmymore!!!
 Goody63 90 points
C'mon. Still a lot of model for just over $220 delivered to AUS. I think you should buy one!!!
 Junkers Jumo 158 points
I'll buy one when yours does its 100th flight.

Ship some of these to the USA warehouse jeez.
 Wazza_99 866 points
fraternizing with the commies? lol! This really begs for an airbrake mod especially with such a high flying weight.
 spitfire2010 640 points
Looks like they will only be available from int warehouse. Birth of the description say limited run
say chian  23 points - 2/17/2012

Do something about the dimension HK, otherwise how do you expect people to buy?
 Tartago 482 points
I got the Starmax F-86 almost same size, but much less shipping weight.
spitfire2010  640 points - 2/17/2012

Hobbyking, can you start stocking those wheels. They look pretty sweet!
KaosKane  1430 points - 2/17/2012

looks like the wing is not removable so u would need a van or something 1550mm wide very big to transport in flyable configuration
 koren9 15 points
This is the Hobby Topgun Mig-15 , very nice model and the wing suppose to be removable , u can see the 4 screws going through the wing .
 St.Paul 149 points
I think the 6 screws to connect the wing to the fuselage.
 KaosKane 1430 points
when i look at pic 3 i dovetail joints these need to be glued, also i can see no bolt holes in the wing root edge or the fusil to accept bolts. thanks for replying i am still not 100% sure *}
 4stripes 118 points
The wing is removable with 6 long bolts. It would be a nightmare to transport otherwise.
