Really nice "begginers kit". Model flies very stable. Unlike AXN Floater, takes off straight from hand . Floater tends to descend when leting it go from hand. Bixler takes off more like a glider. Easy on field assembly. Landing gear is useless on grass, although I managed to take off from wet grass runway once.Very gentle trainer, required a little nose down trim when not loaded with fpv gear. Order glue as this us not included in the kit. I would also recommend servo extender wire for easer removal of the wing, order two if also using flaps.FANTASTIC PLANE! I love how it looks and how it flies. After spending $150 and had my daughter full of energy to see her first RC plane flying, it turned out that the aileron servo needs to be reverse. The problem is you required a special cable that hobby king don't supply with the plane. Also its suppouse to be a trainer and RTF plane...
Whats going on HOBBYKING????? What I need to do now???
I'm glad it was not a Christmas present...
The well flown bix3, bought 3 times now. it flies great but needs more spareparts... if i could i would buy 10 of these and they would last a lifetime :)I purchased my Bix3 last year and this was my 1st plane, what can i say but i absolutely love this plane, its great for beginners, so much fun to fly, after flying now for quite a few months and progressing to different and faster planes i still fly this on a regular basis as its such an enjoyment, i cannot recommend this plane enough, you will not regret buying this...enjoy and happy flying from one very happy HobbyKing and Bix3 customer.I bought this one for my first RC plane. Flies nice straight from box. Easy assembly. Slow and Easy to fly. I like it very much.excellent quality ' , there are some things to point out : the ' propeller and very unbalanced ATTENTION the cg is 67mm from the leading edge , adjacent to the carbon spar . for the version with radio : you have to check the commands , my channel roll was reversed . apart from these details and the product good .Green pilot here. So you will need a few things to make this air worthy. Get a few (3) servo extention leads, the ESC wire is VERY short. Get some foam safe CA glue (and some kicker), my RTF did not have any, not sure why. you will also need 8 AA batteries for the radio. My ailerons were reversed, so I installed the radio software and reversed them, also set limits on the flap throws as well. You WILL need to find a video on how to balance your prop, I used some scotch tape, adding small pieces until the engine no longer shook at max power. Above is whats required to get it in the air.
For durability, because I expect to crash a few times, good old scotch (3M stuff, no cheap crap!) packing tape! Around the nose seams, on the wing leading edges (super easy because its 3 strait angles!), on the belly in addition to the supplied skid plate. Also, I put a seam of glue along the tube that holds the main wing spar, because it looked a little iffy. When installing servos, glue them in LAST! set the horns, linkages and hinges up to your satisfaction then, and only then, make them permanent with glue.Have not had the airplane in the air because of problems with the escape, which didn't work from day one. The transmitter worked for a very short time during the setup then it quit. The plane itself seems okay now remains to be seen. If you set up the radio properly using proper travel limits on servos, they shouldn't be a problem. I ordered another radio to see if I get the same trouble. Maybe hobby King will take the old one back? I have made many purchases from hobby King this one has been the worst as for as problems go if I get everything working. I will let you know.
