The GPS is not working! Wrong coordinates. The speed is bouncing randomly. Overal waste of time and money. Very dissapointed. The only thing that works well is the voltage monitor.I really like how easy the setup was. Also if you were thinking about upgrading the firmware and GPS, it defiantly can. Its a great cheap product, I strongly recommend this to any FPV flyer. Not the greatest OSD, I can barely see the OSD information on my screen and this is after HK sent me a new one as the original did the same thing, very faint print on the screen. I sent a video on my setup to HK Product specialist and they came to the conclusion that the product was faulty. So what is the chance of two of these in a row being faulty, maybe this is just the quality of the product, overall not worth the money or time to set it up.I can not use because the most important lacks.
The OSD has no arrow indicating the Home Point.
I have to buy another one because I can not use it in my Bixler for Long Distance ....Worked fine for the price... the location of the speed/altitude could be a bit better/logical (alttide up right and speed down right) but worked.. can monitor 2 batteries, have a timeclock, GPS coordenates , speed and altitude, a clock and even RSSI reading..
refresh is slow but for the price it cant be beaten...
however... in mine i got quite "interesting" speed readings:
Also i flashed this to U-OSD .. looking forward to use as such
Good product not much else to say.,.unfortunately no qualitycontrol. HK exists 10y now and you ought to think they improve.
The word "defective" does not exist in the chinese language. everything must leave the country working or not. you trouble with the item, send it back or not?
received this OSD set for the 3rd time. this time after hooking up the system to my fpv, no osd screen. the programming by a USBarp is available and that's weird. so looked further in the "hardware" resoldered all the components did not had any effect. deeper troubleshooting threw it's fruits because by testing the 78L05 regulator I finally got to the problem.there is input voltage but no output. I desoldered the regulator and soldered 2 cables to the output pins on the board. with 5V separate input from my lab power supply I had osd screen.BAD 78L05 You can see in the picture how I solved the problem by placing a male connector glued next to the 1st battery connector and rated this as a 5V port. I just borrow the 5V from the GPS connector. put many hours to this but am glad I did. please hobbyking: begin with quality control on your stuff. we made you rich in this 10 years. please make a little less profit out of your millions of dollars and help us all out.Works ok, its easy enough to set up, and it show how my Skyeye goes 500kph, i know it only looks like 20kph, but the gps says 500 so im going with that.... it flickers between readings that are sane and insane for speed and alt. So you do know which reading is right. Maybe the gps is a bit slow or its too close to the motor. (about 200mm)
Just remember to wire the camera and tx just like in the diagram, i know its weird, but thats how it works.Im a bit unhappy with this. The price is GOOD. The OSD is working well. Flashed it to CL-OSD.
The GPS was shown 70km away from my position till I waited for about 20 minutes. Then it was very precise. At this price (compared to other systems) its a really good set.
But my GPS-Module stopped working after the second flight. When I connect it now(same way I did before) the GPS-Module gets untouchable hot. The power LED is on, but nothing else happens.Just got one of these for my Surfer 1500. Have it set up with a 600VTL 5.8ghz 200mw video transmitter. Installation was easy. Remember the OSD main board is 12v but the GPS needs 5v. Don't connect your GPS to a 12v source. You'll fry it. I tapped into the 5v power that goes from my 200mw video transmitter to the attached FPV camera. Used a volt meter to confirm 5v power and then wired it to the GPS.
The Mini OSD system with GPS works very nicely. It was relatively easy to install. Most of all it is light and small. My Surfer 1500 from RMRC (sorry HK) carries it nicely. I have a first flight video that shows it working. I will upload it to the video files list for this product soon as I transfer it from my HK DVR that I bought.
I gave it 3 crowns for Overall rating because of the cryptic installation instructions. The translation from Chinese to English is a bit lacking. But if you follow the diagram it's all there.
Value = 5 crowns. For only $26 US you can't beat it.
Quality = 5 crowns. Nice little unit and it works great.
