NiMH has now been changed back to 6-8 cells. There IS a workaround. I made an adapter with 2 diodes in series, I used 3A ones between 2 XT60's. Now the charger has an additional 1.6V (at 1A) at its terminals and will charge 4 and 5 cell packs. Obviously some displayed figures also show this, so the adapter should only be used when charging 4 and 5 cells.They have now changed the number of NiMH and NiCd in the specs that can be charged from the original 6 to 8 cells, to 1 to 6, presumably after my lengthy communication with them. Unfortunately, no one has told my chargers of this change. They still appear to be limited to 6 to 8 cells. According to the "system menu" in my chargers, they are both: Version "HW: 1.00 SW: 1.01". Perhaps there has been an upgrade in the last few days?
Has anyone managed to charge other than 6 to 8 NiMH cells and if so, what version Numbers.Be very afraid. Read the specs VERY CAREFULLY. This charger can ONLY charge 6 to 8 cell NiMh or NiCd batteries. This means that they can't charge your common receiver packs of 4 and 5 cell NiMh batteries.
In fact, this TURNIGY charger can only charge ONE out of NINE TURNIGY NiMh batteries advertised as "in stock" on this website.
Yes, it is cheap, but make sure you read ALL OF THE FINE PRINT in the specs, before buying as there is very limited customer service after purchase.
Be also aware that not all the specs are correct. for example, the "safety timer range is NOT limited to 120 minutes.
