The NEW Race Spec Mini 20A AFRO is geared for the mini FPV racers, Featuring true 20A capabilities and yet is the same size or smaller than most 12A esc. This was made possible with a new 4 Layer PCB design to handle the current and dissipate the heat. Race Spec also ships with the latest firmware with auto one-shot detection and Comp-PWM enabled. Race Spec is plug and play race ready.
Developed from the ground up, we wanted to build a truly Multi-rotor specific ESC that would offer the best performance and value in the market today. We wiped the slate clean and looked to the community for inspiration and help in designing an ESC that truly could be known as “The Multi-rotor ESC”
Enter Simon and Hamasaki AKA SimonK and timecop. This combination of hardware and firmware expertise in conjunction with the Hobbyking in house engineering team gave us the edge needed to develop an ESC like no other and hence the Afro series was born.
Boasting high efficiency, all N-channel MOSFET design, jitter-free hardware PWM input, and smooth power response the Afro ESC series are set to change the expectations of multi-rotor pilots around the globe. The Afro ESC series ship with multi-rotor specific SimonK software preloaded! No need to reflash. For added convenience the Turnigy USB linker can be used via the PWM signal lead for any future software updates eliminating the need for complicated flashing jigs or the need to cut open the heat shrink.
This version of the Afro multi-rotor speed controller has been developed especially for the growing 250 FPV racing class. The demands of the FPV racer are very high but this speed controller ticks all the right boxes, it is very small and lighweight but still packs a mighty punch.

Ordered 4 of these ESC's. 1 ESC didn't work and when it did it showed me a trick where magic smoke comes out of my motor. Got to buy a new ESC :/Works well BUT has serious sync issues with 2300kv motors (sunnysky 2204 2300kv in my case)! Luckily all you have to do is flash it with BLheli. (Note: you don't have to get the dedicated flasher if you have an arduino, you can do it with that as well)these little things are great
Pretty excellent piece of hardware. Love the compact size!Updated to the latest Simonk firmware and they work great had some sync problems before so i recommend to update. They keep cool even during hard flights. Great quality and value.works great to supply the 5v for the cc3d and Rx without adding an extra circuit.Cumplen su funcin. Lo mejor es poder actualizar el firmware a BLHeli.so good 20a escso good 20a escso good 20a escso good 20a escGreat ESC. Tuff as nails I have took them swimming three times and I am still running them. Thanks for a great product.Stunning ESC's! The boards are larger than say the dys 20A Bheli ones and measure approx 20mmx25mm so they just fit on a standard 250 quad arm. They're very well soldered too. The plastic shrink tubing is very tough to get off, especially if you're going to soldering directly to the board. Use a sharp knife to cut along the sides against the board to get it off. I couldn't find shrink tubing big enough to cover so used Kapton tape instead. Not the most attractive solution but works well. They do get toasty when ragging the quad, but cool down quickly. Pleased with them so far. Oh and they all provide 5V on the red wire. Brown is GND and orange is the signal line. Hope that helps you!
