Why does this not have an IEC input connector or come with the funky mickey mouse ac cord (-1 star)? you have to order an AC cord separate elsewhere. Otherwise the unit seems good, but the fan makes a whirl even at low current output (-1 star). The power cord... there is no power cord. There is mention in here to run to your local computer store and they'll have one ready for you. No... no, not quite the case. So I'm hitting the product hard... 3 star value, because I had to go on a field trip in St Louis to find a power cord. It would be so simple to sell this product with a power cord... so why not just do that.
Be careful
Purchased this from the Australia Warehouse however as Australia is 240v 60hz this unit is incomparable. As unit was unused I attempted to return it however HK refused to allow this.
Warning: Do not assume that because it comes from the Australian Warehouse it can be used in Australia. Make sure that you purchase the 240v version which is Part No 17423 or you will be stuck with an expensive brick like me.Damn!! This is a 110V Version :( Be Carful.
Das Ding braucht 110V, vorsicht, nicht kaufen in Europa! No good my power input caught fire after a week of use, did the job for that week but very dangerous would not recommend !!!I've had this for 2 years. To that point I really liked it. Today, it caught fire and burned a hole in my wood flooring. Contacted HK but they would only discuss warranty, not product safety or potential design issue. The fault occured when left on for about an hour after charging was complete. The power supply was only powering my charger which was idle. The bottom overheated and melted through the case. I heard a pop and then could smell the burned conponents. All connections were made correctly. It simply failed. Careful.Very nice power supply , I even had a power cable from an old dell laptop for it. Runs the new charger wellVery satisfied .. Ive used this to power many types of chargers and its never made a single complaint.. charged single cells and all the way to six cell batteries..Freedom from the car battery! Does exactly what it needs to do. The fan does sound like a jet engine when it kicks on but it's not like you are trying to sleep when it's plugged in. The power cord was a super easy find, and no points off for that...heck they let you know that you have to get one in the description.I just ordered my second one of these as the first is still going great guns after 3 years of use. It has far outlasted computer power supplies that I have purchased for about the same money! It provides 14 volts under more than 20 amps with no problem whatsoever. And yes you do need to provide you own cord, but they are easy to find. -
