Introducing the HobbyKing® ™ Spec Class FPV250 Racing drone kit, a mini sized drone with big FPV capability for park fun or FPV Drone racing.
The FPV250 is a mini sized FPV quad copter measuring in at a mere 250mm. This durable, inexpensive FPV multi-rotor platform is perfect for FPV racing or obstacle course flying at your local field.
The glass filled nylon one-piece frame is extremely durable, giving you the confidence to go FPV barnstorming and yet only weighs 110 grams. The front platform is designed to handle up to a 2 servo pan and tilt camera setup and the rear platform supports the video transmitter, to keep it all nice and balanced. The FPV250 has a center bay, large enough for most popular flight controllers and includes a top crash cage for protection. There are four integrated strap slots on the bottom, to securely hold the battery in place for high G maneuvering. The FPV250 motor mounts can handle anything from a 1506 to 2208 motor and the vented arms provide plenty of cooling for your 7~12A ESCs.
The Spec Kit was selected after testing different configurations and coming up with the optimal setup. We started with the durable FPV250 frame and matched it with the powerful Multistar 1704 motors swinging 5x3x3 props. For the ESCs, we went with the light weight Afro v3 12Amps and included a power distribution lead for a plug and play set-up. To round out the power system, a Turnigy 3s 1000mAh battery with matching Mini JST is included. The spec kit also comes with the recommended pan and tilt kit and all hardware for mounting the motors and battery. All that is left is adding your choice of flight controller and FPV gear.
The HobbyKing® ™ Spec FPV250 is a budget minded FPV basher, ready for daredevil obstacles or Spec Class FPV racing. It’s time to start practicing your FPV skills, race season is getting ready to start!

So Far so good. Built the other day and test flown within an hour.. Flight times with the 1000 mAH battery are roughly 7-8 mins with Carbon Props and 8-9 Mins with an 1100 mAH Battery from RMRC.. So much more responsive then my bigger quad. Decided on a regular KK over the mini KK I already have, but overall its a good flying quad and very strong. I haven't tried the supplied 3 blade props, I bought a ton of Gemfan 5x3 carbon Props and ABS Props from RMRC.. Just wish there was a way to hide more of the wiring, especially the wiring for the ECS's to Battery connector... Thinking of some small stand offs for the KK board and hiding it all under there?!?!?This is my first quad build and it went without a hitch! It was super fun and easy to do once I looked at all the documents and web videos. It flies great - I'm truly amazed. Only thing I would improve is the landing legs because they do not stay in so I had to apply some CA glue. Value is great as well. Nice job Hobbyking!!Very good starting racer kit. Easy to build, fly with kk2.1.5 like a charm. Perfect first quad. Here is mine: https://youtu.be/1CF88N-6WWwpro:
flies really stable with kk 2.1.5
components work together really well - no real heat at the motors or esc's
one propeller was broken, right after first moving the propeller but without proper settings of the kk 2.1.5Nice combo kit for beginners. Easy to build. Possible upgrade.Love it, very good en sturdy construction. Wan't brake, even not at heavy crashes. Props are cheap and weak, bought some carbon 2 blade props and now it runs perfect, stable en is FAST :-)
The feet have to be glued to the frame, otherwise you will lose them.
Use it in combination with a KK2.1.5 board, latest firmware update. Don't forget to order the servo leads as these are not included.
Also ordered the USB linker to update the firmware on the ESC's, nice and easy, makes a differencei had a mini kk2.1.5 that i stuck in this and the controller cage really doesn't like it to much. The build was really easy. Don't use the motor mount brackets just use the 2x10mm bolts and washers directly through the frame into the motors. It flies perfect and its got A TON of power. With bare essentials (kk2.1.5 mini, FS receiver, 1000mah 3s, motors , esc's) it bounces around 40pcnt throttle and gets airborne around 46pcnt. Hover from 44-46pcnt. With that setup and easy self leveling round and round flight in my kitchen to test everything out i got a little over 8 minutes of flight.
Absolutely recommend this kit for sure.very nice quad, easy to build and fun to fly, just use some better propellers ;)I bought this as a hassle free way to build a quadcopter, And I have to say that it's pretty much fit the bill perfectly.
It only comes with one set of blades (And 2 of mine didn't survive long enough to get outside !!! :) ), So it's worth loading up your order with a load of spare sets when you buy it. I got 3 spare sets at the time and I think that wasn't really enough !
Also, The plain M5 prop nuts are all standard threading, (Not CW and CCW) so it would be a good idea to source a bag of nyloc nuts to replace any that disappear into the scenery in a crash as clipping something with the blades that are spinning clockwise will whizz the nut right off.
The frames bl00dy strong and the kits made up with some pretty good parts. All in all, I'm glad I bought it.Great little kit, quality parts and around $82, recommended to anyone starting out, just remember to get a couple more sets of propellers, another battery or 2 and a flight controller.
Also consider the upgrade kit for more space and mounting options.
