The HobbyKing™ Ridge Ryder Slope Wing was designed as a compact, simple, stable, and purpose built wing specifically for the dynamic world of slope soaring. The all molded EPO foam airframe is rugged and light weight, while a single piece carbon spar keeps the model very stiff and crisp in response.

One of the biggest battles over the ages has been adding additional ballast to your slope wing; most designs having little to no consideration for it. You are then left with the task of taping on weight, or using clay to add the extra weight needed. We've eliminated that need on the Ridge Ryder by pre-installing twin ballast tubes into the model. Included in the box are steel ballast, and foam spacers. This allows you to run some, or all weight, then the foam spacers take up the extra room allowing you to also fine-tune your center of gravity. Molded hand grips make launching easier. Speaking of easy, access your receiver of ballast through the magnetically secured hatch.

The HobbyKing™ Ridge Ryder is the perfect addition to your hangar. Its small size is perfect to pack with you on a hike or keep in the car. It handles light lift as well as heavier conditions while being stable and nimble at the same time!

Features:
• Plug and fly - just install receiver and battery
• Molded EPO airframe with 1 piece carbon spar
• Built in ballast tubes allow you to add up to 84g of weights
• Magnetically secured access hatch

Specs:
Wingspan: 913mm
Length: 500mm

TOTALLY love this plane, flew it a few times as slope soarer, you can literally stay up forever in a decent breeze. Now chucked a mini motor 5" prop 10a esc and 1300 3s. Must be same factory as Wingnetic as similar high quality all round. So good, absolutely throw it around though pull too hard on the loop and it literally flips on the spot. So cool. About 30 mins on the 1300, would prefer less weight but needed that to balance motor. FPV next adventure. And all this for $26!

Arrived well packed but one wing tip slightly bent. I used hot water to persuade it back into shape. One servo wasn't centred so I had to cut a small piece of wing away to access the screw on the horn. I glued this back, covered with a sticker its not visible. Both ailerons are slightly warped down at the tips. I'll see how it flies before I attempt to straighten them. I'm guessing it will be OK. I used a 5 cell AAA Nimh rx pack at the front of the equipment bay with a small 4ch rx behind. I needed 10g in the nose to get the recommended c of g. Didn't take long to put together and looks great :-)

Maiden flight today in winds gusting over 50 mph. Ballast tubes full and an extra 50g added. Flew very well for such a light weight model. Check out the video on YT under "heady2008" titled HK Ridge Ryder and..."

Pretty Good wing to start with. Im new to Sloaping. i beat this one up pretty good and finally had to order a second. The second one has many assembly flaws. I have been trying to contact HK to resolve the issue. I hope they make this right.

A wonderful design and a great flyer. It flies on rails, loops, rolls, amazing half pipes as it retains energy, does inverted like it's meant to and really hauls in big wind all ballasted up in big wind.

In this episode Malc takes a look at the awesome looking new Hobbyking Ridge Ryder (not ridge racer)
The simplest of assemblies can go awfully wrong but in this case it really could not have gone together easier.

WOW... the Ridge Ryder Rocks :)

This is an awesome little wing! I've flown it in 25 knot wind with 100grams of ballast and it penetrates like a hot knife through butter. This afternoon I flew it in sub 10 knot wind with no ballast, but I had a little vid cam strapped on and it still penetrated better than I expected. This thing has a much lower aspect ratio than most flying wings so it goes well in the light stuff... it flies better in light wind than a Wicked Wing. If I could only own one sloper... this would be it :)

Seems to be a good slopeglider. Tested it in snow and ice by a few bungee starts. Glides really well and the wings are stiff. Did a little bit wight our of the nose, the center is now 5mm behind the 180mm. Must test more, but seems more than ok.
Powered the servos direct from 2S LiPo. The manual sayies 7,4V are ok. Made place for the servo arm in the forward direktion, to less room.
