The range covers PLA, ABS, Flexible, Color Changing, Luminous, Nylon, Polycarbonate, Acetal (POM), Metal Composite and even a water soluble filament for printing molds. So there is a filament for every project you have in mind. HobbyKing filaments have a stable melting point, good round shape and most importantly a 0.05mm uniform diameter tolerance for a consistent flow rate.
PLA has a lower melting point and prints easier than other materials. One of the most important features is that PLA is non-toxic, and even has a sweet smell when printing. PLA has a low shrinkage rate and it is very rigid with minimal flex. This material can print extremely high resolution models and is perfect for a wide range of uses. PLA is considered stronger than ABS but is more susceptible to cracking when subjected to flexing, impact or torsional loads so the mechanical needs of the print project need to be evaluated.
PLA has a huge range of vibrant colors and opacity for that perfect look whether it is artistic or utilitarian, in short a great material for 3D printing. PLA can be printed without the use of a heat bead, and can stick to glass or a PCB plate with a binder such as hairspray or white glue for a curl free print.

I did a couple of test prints.
This filaments diameter varies a lot! from 1.70mm to 1.79mm withing 200mm of length.
My other mid quality filament is 1.74mm-1.76mm.
- Hollow cube structure.
- 1 outer layer at 0.4mm nozel
- 1 bottom layer
- 100um layer height
- printed at 220degC no headed bed.
The outcome is not very uniform.
I also printed a structure I needed and the first layer has no full coverage due to the variance in diameter.
