Big mistake buying this ESC. Mine is not even a year old, in it's second car and glitches to the point where the car is unpredictable and too dangerous to drive to even test the car.
Never buying Trackstar again.Perfect speed controller for on-road applications. To prevent overheating near front of chassis (my mounting position) I recommend cutting a hole in windshield over the fan feed. I used a Turnigy nano-tech 5300mah 2S2P 50~100C Hardcase Lipo Pack, along with this esc and a hobbywing 3.5 turn modified motor for crazy top speed.I put this item together with TrackStar 5.5T Sensored Brushless Motor 6075KV in my bsr bz-444 pro buggy which came with 10,5t trackstar and 80a esc - the difference is amazing, car "flyes" with this combo, couldn`t be happier. I also changed pinion gear from 21t to 28t and the motor doesn`t heat over 75°c, esc stays under 50°c. Car goes 85 km/h with stock esc settings and i am certain it goes over 100 km/h if settings are pushed up. There are so many settings available on this esc that you can really setup your best personal liking. Also the programming card for this esc is also lipo battery monitor which is great in my opinion.
I have purchased 2 of these now, both fried within a few minutes. Combined with Trackstar 3.5T motor. Turbo Timing 0.
Car runs well then all of a sudden it stops completely. If you select either forward or reverse it fries the esc. Motor is no binding and drivetrain is free.
Can anyone help me out?Stay away from this ESC - I've had nothing but trouble with it:
I bought one - it wouldn't let me program it with the CORRECT Trackstar programming box, so they sent me a new one which could be programmed.
When I got around to soldering the wires to the ESC the problems started:
* Instead of normal through-and-trough soldering holes You get these stupid round thingamajigs. My soldering lead didn't adhere to this weird metal (even with soldering paste applied).
* These round things are way too close to each other - You must be VERY careful not to short them while soldering.
So soldering done I checked the result with magnifying glass and flashlight - everything looked just fine. When I connected the ESC and pressed gas - everything was fine. when I tried to reverse, the ESC let out sparks and CAUGHT ON FIRE.Great ESC.
Just one thing : there is a problem in the TU USB Link v2.06. If you want to use it, you need to move all the LANGUAGE_* forlder into a rec folder.
archive folder tree (non working) :
- TU USB Link V2.06.exe
working folder tree :
- TU USB Link V2.06.exe
Hobbyking : please update the TU USB Link V2.06 archive with the right folder tree !
Hello, I purchased this esc about 6 months ago to put into my B5M. So far it has performed extremely well, never overheats (17.5 stock racing) There is at least two others using this product at my local club and one of those two regularly wins stock class for the night, his times are competitive even with the modified drivers in combination with his fantom short stack motor. I would have no hesitation recommending this esc and I firmly believe its performance to be on par with the big name brands which cost three times as much. I will rate quality at 4 stars only because I havn't owned the esc long enough to draw a conclusive report on that aspect.
Great product, amazing price.Nice feature to have the power button on the ESC. I was quite surprised how flimsy the case feels, quite a cheap plastic plus the on off switch. Last used a Hobbywing v2.1 and it's not as punchy than that even playing around with the timing settings.
The SkyRC esc wifi dongle works with this which is a bonus. If the ESC was a bit stronger I would give it 5 crowns. The best esc I ever had, period. Everything is configurable, you can save 10 profiles and recall them on the track with the program card (highly recommended). If you can think of any option or configurable parameter, it has it. I really can't say anything else because this esc is so awesome that any other esc becames a toy.I have a problem. I bought this esc and need to know that capacitors are and how they connect. thanks for the help.
