There seem to be different versions of this stripe out there. I ordered a red one 2 months ago with this extra regulator. The regulator died in a crash and since then I use the red stripe without regulator directly connected to 2s. Today arrived blue, green and white without regulator. I hoped to run them on 2s too, but they just dimm a little. I have to run them on 3s and use heattransferring glue to mount them onto carbon. Hope that will work.

Bought two of these to go on the front of my quad for night orientation. One of them is flawless and works fine. The other one came with one of the individual LEDs malfunctioning. It just never worked. The rest on the strip work ok so far......

My JST connector was also pinned backwards as others have mentioned, a quick re-solder fixed that. Indeed it does run REALLY bright and HOT on 3S, I will try out a 9v UBEC to step the voltage down and get it to a range where I won't be melting quad frames or components, seems like a good idea.

The green is NICE and full, bright, really messed up my rods and cones at first, I couldn't get the image of Kenny Rogers Roasters chicken out of my head.

Great for drones / racers, if you can keep it cool or turn down the voltage it'd be perfect.

The green LED strip (without the regulator board) is extremely bright and extremely hot on 3 cells . You can cook an egg on it. I suggest therefore that the green LED strip should only be run on 2 cells if you dont have good cooling and heatsink. It is still very very very bright on 2 cells and runs at <100mA.
It is a nicely made aluminium case so you could mount it against aluminium arm of your quad with some thermal grease to dissipate the heat and you should avoid damaging the LEDs or burning your fingers should you choose to run 3s. Alternatively try the RED 3W LED strip as it ships with a small board (regulator) in line and does not get nearly so hot.
Love the product, great quality unit but make sure you test it in your setup for excessive heat to determine your best operating voltage.

This green strip gets very hot on 3S/12v too hot to use and will melt foam (too hot to hold in the hand) . Did not run mine for more than a few seconds on 3S as I think they will get too hot and fail or burn.
On 2S they are fine , run cool even after a few minutes and still very bright.
The red strip has a BEc or similar inline and can run on a #S pack without a problem , this green strip does not have that.
I have ordered a 9V bec to run this on in the hope it works as I have a 3S system that I want to add this to. I will post the result when it arrives and I have tested it

Die LED-Leiste ist extrem hell und wird innerhalb von Minuten extrem heiss. Mit der Wrmeentwicklung eingetlich nicth zu gebrauchen. Erstaunlicherweise hat die 3W Leiste in Rot noch eine Art Platine vorgeschaltet und ist nicht ganz so hell aber wird auch nur etwas warm.

ridiculously bright!!! by far the brightest of any LED i have ever purchased from hobby king.......seriously blinding........as well as get very very very hot so beware when mounting, these will probably melt EDF foam, they run that hot.
