Retract set review

Jan 26, 2021

One retract actuator not possible to travel a full stroke, one strut stuck with a very heavy spring inside. Second strut very light and different strut inside. The units cannot be used as provided. work needs to be done to correct the problems.

It's a bad product.

The frame is cut too much and the thickness is different, and the accuracy of each part is poor. It is a defective product.

I have 98 flights on my Hobby King Giant Spitfire and I'm using these retracts. I am extremely pleased with them. You only need one gear door retainer because the screw that goes through the retract strut acts as a holder for the lower part of the door. None of the valves, T's or other items worked, that is why I gave them a rating of 4 overall. Still, for the money they can't be beat, my gear show no signs of wearing out, I expect to get many hundreds of flights on my Hobbyking Spitfire with these retracts. If you plow your plane into the runway then I don't think many retracts will hold up, so when you read a review you have to keep that in mind, many RC "pilots" can't fly or land worth a damn. Anyway the HK Giant Spitfire is an awesome flyer, never had a bad landing.

These arrived with one bent , they are made of soft Aluminium not aircraft quality so cant see them lasting very long. 5 other problems are you only get i set of door collars per leg when infact you need 2 as per the real thing to hold the door on. 2nd the scissors on the bottom are in the wrong possition. 3rd the eleo's are to long for 1/5th scale and to short for 1/4 scale so i dont know were they got there measurments from.So unless you have a lathe to make the alterations then dont bother.I have contacted hobby king only to get silly excuses.
(4 )When pressurised the pressure gauge apart at the joint and that was with only 20psi in it and you need 100psi in the tank.
And Finally for now untill flown and landed to see what happens. You will need to go round all the joints and tighten and add cyno on them as they all leak.
