Put it into homemade EDF with coroplast. It has a strong static thrust about 1kg and the power is excellent when your plane is about the same 1kg. Here is the blog for the plane: http://ownrcplane.blogspot.com/2013/10/before-redthlon-there-was-bluesky-edf.htmlExcellent drive for the small price.
I installed this EDF in my test plane Douglas F4D Skyray. This is my first EDf project, I'm happy with the results. I took measurements of the current that charges EDF. I measured 65A! In HK spec is max 39A. So be careful. Measurements I made "on the table". Maybe at the flight is otherwise. Not Happy with this unit , the first one I bought after 5 flights broke and threw the fan in nivada, the second replacement unit on the first flight dissmantled itself and went haywire , im not buying a third , also there are no replacement parts so if you lose a fan tough luck , as you can imagine im a bit miffed.
PBreally bad quality edf unit. Exploded into the plane at 6th or 7th full rpm while testing at ground. Seemed balanced and no vibration during the test but at the end rotor crashed and exploded.
I suppose material failure of the rotor. No replacment or real support from HK. They asked to get it back; it costs more shipping than the units. Motor/bearing have some play more than what possible to accept than even motor cannot be reused as it is.
So in conclusion be aware from this unit.
this is gonna roll in air soonI have just buy this EDF. I have tested it at very low power with and without the baldes on a good quality controller ESC Polytec -70 A.
But at certain level, the motor vibrates even without blades.
And finally my ESC burnt !!! I'm very very surprising because this ESC works fine for a long time...
Very nice EDF!!!
Bought two of it and Im impressed with its power!
You should use a 60A ESC or higher.
Im using a HK 50-60A ESC with external BEC and a 3S 2650mhA 20C Zippy lipo.
My foam F22 is now a rocket!Dangerous! I used an 40amp-Controller and couldn't get the expected trust. Then I have tested the unit with my Watt-Meter: 56A!
I changed the BEC to an 80amp one and the EDF exploded. The plane was partially destroyed and I had some pieces of the blades stuck in my arm! I measured 29.000 rpm seconds before the structural collapse. Hey guys: why don't you say something to the limits of the EDFs - this could safe someones eyes! -
