I received my Atom in a very sturdy box in actual fact it was in three boxes it was in perfect condition it had been assembled accurately there was NO glue on control rods. The receiver I use is the OrangeRX R415 with batteries Zippy Flightmax 350mAH 2S 20C, which seem to work very well.
I am very happy with the Atom and give HKing 10 out off 10

My son has had this about a year and a half, and learned to fly with it. Overall, it's been an excellent airplane. We replaced the motor about 4 months ago with an 1811/2900, a 6A plush ESC and the TGS 4.1x4.1E prop, and it's like a new airplane. Much more performance. Use the Rhino 360's, but have flown ok with up to 610 packs. Sometimes carry a keychain camera. We fly from a soccer field with trees/buildings on all sides, so the added performance is welcome. Have contemplated adding ailerons, but think we'll just move to a larger airplane soon instead. A "kit" version (no motor or elec) at $20 would be welcome. This is so light that crashes/impacts have done minimal damage.

I received the mini atom shortly after ordering; if it was not for me missing the delivery it would have been 2 days.

I have a little flying under my belt but I am a novice who is looking to get into the hobby and thought this would be a cheap and easy way in. It is doing the job perfectly. The plane comes with everything in place leaving just the wings and rudder to attach as well as your receiver. This was done in about 15 minutes with a little epoxy - I was careful to make sure the wings lined up but they did so with very little jiggling.

Now for the flying: I have a football pitch (maybe a little smaller) sized field near my house which has proved okay for simple manoeuvres as I learn the basics. I used the supplied battery first and am able to get about 8-10 minutes of power (15 when I glided for a while-which it does so well). With a little trimming the plane flew well and pretty straight without much input.

I have also used a 3s 500mah lipo which gives a big boost of power and lasts a little longer. Managed to get some clean turns and some good loops out of it.

When I looked into what first plane to get I wanted something that would take a hit. This has taken 3 vertical dives, and a number of dodgy landings and all I have had to do it re-glue the front stub that holds the canopy and I am going to have to secure the main wing as it has become a little wobbly.

This plane is crap. Even though I am a novice flyer, even I can't get it to stay in the air. I am not sure why you are seeing the "glowing reviews", but you get what you pay for. HK even messed up this order and it took over two weeks to get it USA. First the instructions aren't very good. Second, the throttle channel is nothing but problems. I used a HK 6 channel DSM2 receiver with a satellite antenna. For two days, I couldn't get the plane to arm per the instructions. I finally started screwing around with the throttle trim and had to trim down a lot to get the prop to turn. Needless to say, I have to fight the plane as soon as I launch it. I try hard to get it up high, but it rolls all over the place to the right. I have tried hard to balance it and even added a little weight on the left side. The CG is ok and it will take a crash. I could only get it up to 20-30 feet before it would roll out of control and hit the ground. I managed to break a prop. Anyway, this is not a plane for a beginner or novice. I have a hobbyzone champ fly it 6 days a week and can do loops etc and almost invert it: but I still can control it. Maybe a pro can get this thing working, but anyone less will have trouble. It also takes the fun out of flying because you spend too much time getting it to work. Read the reviews on the ESC and throttle. DON"T WASTE MONEY ON THIS THING. YOU WILL REGRET IT!

WOW WHAT A GREAT LITTLE FLYER!!!!!
flys amazingly well.... I know the rudder looks small but set it with lots of throw it it will to rolls under power with ease... Just set it up with rudder on your aileron stick and I doubt you will miss the 4th channel!!!
It even fits in my backpack so I can take it on my motorcycle!!!!
I had a hatred for 3 channel planes after owning multiple, This has restored my faith....
Flys a keychain camera easily....
With recommended upgrade lipos it hauls butt! It wont hold vertical for long but it will climb quickly.
I recommend gluing the control rod tubes under the wing... If not the deflect and make control difficult.

Overall great airplane.. I put a 2s 500mAh turnigy in it... It balanced it out great with the nose a little heavier.. flies great in the wind.. Next time there is a heavy wind I will post a vid of this lil guy in it.. Thinking about adding another to my hanger.. Its a cheap nice plane..

I love this little thing, I'm using 850mah nanotech and have modified the rudder, I have noticed that on launching this plane it wants to pull to the right I guess prop talk, a little left stick fixes this. This is no powerhouse so long slow climbs are needed. I am getting 8-10mins flying time with the last few mins noticeably low on power but still controllable as this little plane can fly quite slow. Also as i'm not the greatest flier it took a bit to get used to the rubber mod and have hit the ground hard a few times and this plane can take a beating, nothing a bit of glue and tape cant fix. hope this helps someone out there Happy Flying All.

Great mini rc model. Very similar to axn Floater Jet, but of course smaller and without ailerons.



Flies great - slow and stable, great choice for begginers. Also very simple to put together...



With original battery pack and Apc 4,1x4,1 prop (much better than original) it can fly 5 min, with 2S 500mAh lipos 10min.



Brushed motor works ok. It is qiute hot after flight, but not that much, to melt the epo foam.



I higly recommend this model if you are looking for small and enjoyable model...
