Don't waste your money if you have lighter planes. My planes are typically EPP or depron and less than 300 g AUW. You can't use this balancer as the 90 set squares etc that hold the wing are quite heavy and significantly throw out the COG. To balance you have to remove them and then you may as well balance on your fingers/pencils.

Good balacer, poor manufacturing. Its weak in the balance points. You need to be very carefull to assemble this one.

Overall this is not a good quality machine. The weight of the rulers DOES affect the way the plane will balance. Unless your plane requires the exact same balance point as the rulers, you will get a false setup... Then there is the issues with the quality of the parts...

The machined alloy bits are beautiful.

The chrome steel rods are flawless.

The plastic square rulers are excellent.

The frames are not so nice. They're made of hand finished MDF that has been coated to prevent moisure damage. The bottoms that sit on the bench aren't totally flat. Then when you insert the two rods that hold them together and sit it on a flat surface (that has been proven to be flat and level), the machine rocks on two corners. To top all that off, when you insert the two pins at the top that are the actual balance point, the MDF splits down the middle.

Also if you happen to have a high-wing plane with struts underneath the wings, you may not get it to sit on the machine at all unless you remove the stuts.

Overall this is not worth buying. You will spend more money making it right than you did on buying it. It will also take you a couple of hours. You may as well just make your own from scratch.
