simply would not fly, maybe in my attempt to make it scream I created a brick I dont know but what a colossal waste of time considering all parts had to be custom fit due to being oversized.

Howdy Pilots, Big Al back with a review of the F-18 kit by Skyangel. I have rated other Skyangel models before and all have been positive and this one is no exception. All parts went together nicely with the occasional distorted piece, caused by what I believe is HK staff being over zealous in bundling the kit together with tape. With some upgrading from what the stock PNP model has, this little gem becomes a missile and you can have some awesome fun with some nervous moments when first flying her. I was amazed how well this plane glides when coming in to land and landings are effortless. You may need to reduce the throws I believe, or that may be level of experience, but overall this is a gift at the price. I may be biased with the F-18 being my favourite plane (apart from the Me 262) but this kit is worth the money and the little effort to get her into the air. Blue skies... Allan

Just had to expand on my previous review since I have flown this a few times. It is NOT for a beginner pilot. I've been flying for years, heli's, airplanes, quads, etc, and I still have trouble with this little missile. Think of it more as a guided dart, than a real airplane. It is FAST. The only problem with it is that the low speed qualities are terrible. Stall it, and it drops out of the sky like a brick, losing at least 30 feet before a recovery is possible. Fly it fast, keep control throws low, keep speed up in turns, and land it fast. It's a whole lot of fun, but not for the feint of heart. Luckily, airframes are $20 so crashes aren't anything to cry about.

I bought this not as a replacement, but to build a totally new jet. When you add up the cost of the ESC, EDF unit, motor, and 2 servos, you can actually build one of these for about the same price as the PNP version, and get much better components (faster is better, right?). Mine arrived in great shape with the exception of one warped horizontal stabilizer, easily fixed with some hot water. Hardware, control horns, and pushrods were included. Nice kit, and for the price i'll probably buy a couple others and just swap the components around.

This kit is not without its flaws. A number of the pieces came wonky and bent. However! A little boiling water poured over the foam softens it sufficiently to bend it straight.



It flies wonderfully after a little TLC though!

Maiden flight was smooth, auw with 4 servos Donsrc wicked wemo 50mm fan, hawk 40 esc and nano 1000mah 4s 45c is 424g. 29amps and 425watts unlimited vertical, guess 150km/h level pass. For the second flight I will reduce aileron throws and cog to 40mm from 42mm and see. Good to practice high alpha slow passes, got to be quick on the sticks but well over 1:1 thrust helps. Excellent quality air frame and I will be getting the full range of blueangle 50 series edfs, happy landings too.

Purchased this product after bad crash of my f-35 mini jet. Wanted to change it up and use electronics from broken plane and put in this one. Everything should work out good. Will let you know once I receive it.
