poor fit in plastic housing

There is no shamfer on the pins making fitting into the plastic very difficult. i see others are drilling the plastic but i would be concerned about the pin coming loose / pushing out backwards when plugged in. shop around you will find better.

Male/ Female gold pins meisures 6.3mm. Run a 6mm drill gently through both plastic housings and the pins will fit snug. For the price it's worth the small effort

I bought theses before and had no trouble fitting them but the last 2 sets I haven’t been able to get the connector to seat into the housing.

Good and save plug

EC5 is a good and reliable plug system. the m- and f- plug goes easy together, but is save not cut of in flight. Using nly "simple" plug I have seen Helicopters falling down due to open plug. The housing give, besides from a correct connection ( plus-minus ) an additional friction.
Easy to solder and once the golden part is pluged in the housing, it is a save connectior.
First solder, then put it in the housing.
Only negative point is, that these connectors are not easy to be reused again. De-soldering the cable and soldering a new one ist nearly impossible without do destroy the plastic housing.
I think it would be a great idea to have spare housings also available.

If you buy these, also add a hammer to your cart. Very difficult to get the pins into the plastic housing, i recommend paying extra for e-flite ec5's

As several people have noted, these EC5's mount thru the front of the plastic housing, and have a weaker segmented "male" bullet. More difficult to install, less likely to go in straight, and apparently not fully compatible with earlier EC5's. :-/

Why did you change EC5's

These connectors are crap and can't be used with the older style that I have on all my helis. And I am not about to start changing everything because HK decided to bring this style out. I want to return them but it costs more in shipping then just tossing them. Not pleased with this shipment.

The older version was better for use with very thick wires up to 8 AWG. At the new ones you have to put the blue plastic case of the connectors over the wires before you solder the contact-pins. Then you attach the case by moving them from the wire-side over the pins. That limits the usage especially at thick wires!
