Nice bell motor for light planes. Seems to be nicely crafted!

I have have been useing this motor and found the threaded part of the shaft weak so I cut off the threaded part and used a 3.0mm aluminum prop adapter...works very well... I also ditched the back hold down plate as the allen screws were puhsing on the bearings and causing the motor to turn harder. I switched to these holders look up "TPHEATMOUNT" in the search, they cause no binding in the bearings.

I have found a solution for this bell motors they are very good and i have several crashes on it nailed nose down in to the ground and i still have the motor working like it was new, the trick with the shaft is to cut it short and put an aluminum spinner on it and let the spinner rest against the bell of the motor or very close to it so if it hits something it wont bend.

i hope i have explained well

The good news:

I have used two of these for my 525g T34. It gives aggressive sport aerobatic performance with a JXF 8x6. I used a Turnigy 1300ma 3s battery and got 15min at 75pcnt power or 20min at 30pcnt.

The bad news:

The shaft is VERY easy to bend. I bent one shaft on the first flight. The second motor lasted about ten flights and bent with a modest flip on a grass field. Both motors had the Allen screws come loose at the motor mount during the first flight. I added some silicone glue to the threads and they stopped coming out.

I would only recommend this motor for "old timer" Sunday flying, pushers, or gliders. If you hit the prop in the slightest bump you are going to bend the shaft, guaranteed!

This is a great motor for the price, but you need to be EXTRA carefull.
