Charging 6x 6s 5000mah batteries using a para board with ease at 1C. Not a huge amount of features and settings but so far I've found this charger more than adequate for my needs. Needs a 25V power supply to get the full benefits. You'd only get half the power with a 12-18V based unit. Running with a Chargery S1500 power supply this setup is solid :)

This charger is not working well at all. I connected it to 24VDC supply, then a 4000mAh 6S LiPo, and turned it on for balance charge. The LiPo was at about 1/2 charge to start. One of the 6 cells charged fairly quickly to 4.21V, while the others were barely approaching 4V, but the charger then reduced its charge rate down very low, apparently "thinking" it had just about finished the job. I then connected the LiPo to an 6S 250W iCharger and it correctly balance charged at 10A, all cells to 4.2V, putting in 800mAh in the process. So, the Turnigy charger had stopped charging when the LiPo had not much more than 1/2 charge, and the iCharger easily finished the job. Very disappointed in the MEGA, maybe I got a bad one? Maybe it needs a FW update? AS it stands, it is unusable.

This charger has its minor issues but overall for the $ I'm very happy. I have been charging my 5s 36ah lipo pack at 40 amps (about 700 watts) about a dozen times now and the only major problems have been with my power supplies, not this charger. Charging at 40 amps for 30 minutes and its internal temp is 46* and the air from the fans only warm. Input voltage is 24v (always a bit higher than battery voltage with my packs), at lower voltages I'd expect the temps to rise a bit. Also the fans are quiet enough that I can barely hear them in the next room, I've had 200w chargers 2x as loud.

I have had this for about 5 months now.
For the price it is pretty awesome, but it's really only reliable as a bulk charger.
My 2 main issues are;
1. Ah measure is very wrong - my 32Ah 6s battery pack is close to flat about about 3.5v per cell will accept 39Ah from the charger, and that's not balance charge.
2. The balance circuit sometimes reads a cell wrong... and over charges it... so basically I can only trust it bulk charging, then balance with my 50w reliable balancer
Hmm the AWG could have been higher too 10 in 14 out gets really hot above 20A especially with a 12v input, the output could be changed, but input is soldered

Using it on the popular Manson 15V / 40A switch mode power supply, both my Mega chargers are the only ones I ever had, refusing work with white screen (dead with all digits active on display). I need to disconnect it and to reconnect it with a spark onto power supply, then it works. With 12V power supplies from personal computers (one single or two in series) it is the same. Using conventional power supply, not switch mode, (13,2V/23A) it works. No real idea what it means, even if I finished my engineers degree in electronics , as properly designed power supplies ramp up roughly in the same time, whether designed as switch mode or linear mode type. Is there probably some EMC weakness in the design!? I don't hope, as I considered Hobbyking as a valueable supplier up to now!

I forgot to mention one thing: the power cable (12/24 Volts) is rather short! To get full power on the flight place and to save car battery live (reduced current at 24V), I tried to use the battery from my car (12V/74 Ah) and my flight battery (12V/88 Ah) in series, as usual with my Hyperion chargers. No way without an additional cable extension, that I didn't have with me! Cable can't be so expensive, why is it such short (0,4m)?! My other 5 chargers have cable lengths between 0,8 and 1,5m...!

The charger works quite well and the fans are really not noisy. Unfortunately the power supply 24V/50A isn't available in the European warehouse. Using it on adjustable power supply, some care is necessary: I adjusted the voltage from 12V to 15V quite quickly during use, this caused confusion to the charger, the charging current rose up and there was some humming from the charger to be heard. Nevertheless I bought a second one.

What a monster (in a small package) this is ... I have run it on 12 volts from a car lighter adapter pulling 180 watts which was about all the 12 volt adapter could take at 14amps as the wires were getting warm. The only tricky thing about this charger is the input leads have 4mm banana plugs on the ends which makes it a little tricky connecting to the usual 12 volt lead battery. I have just charged a 6000mah 6 cell Nano pack at 18amps - talk about bringing it up to charge fast! I also plugged the input bananas into a 10,000mah Multistar XT90 connector and had plenty of power there to play with. The fans come on gradually as needed once the internal temp gets about 39C and are not that bad compared to some smaller high speed cooling fans I have heard. Menu is easy to navigate and battery memory works well - select one, hit enter and start charging with those settings. Charge current varies a little up and down as it charges I imagine it is checking the cell state and balancing at the same time. You can monitor the input voltage as you charge as well as the final voltage and cell voltages, internal and external temp, Temp limit, time limit, AH limit. A balance meter function measures 8 cell voltages (6 on the first screen and 2 on the second) and high and low cell voltage with three decimal places of precision. When ordering make sure you add the proper adapter for the output ca

Great charger so FAR! Very quiet compared to the HK 400X2. Does all that is described on the specs. Has two big fans on the rear and sucks air from the front vents which passes over heat sinks to keep the charger cool. Charging in 80 deg. outside temp., the charger stays very cool while charging 4X6s lipos on a para. board @ 25 amps. Remember, you can charge only up to your para. board amp rating. I think HK para. boards are rated at 25 amps. Hope this charger lasts a long time. Keep it cool and you should not have any problems.. Good luck.
