The Phoenix 2400 is an extended wing version of the popular Phoenix 1600mm and 2000mm range of electric powered gliders. Assembly is quick and easy with no glue required, the vertical fin and horizontal stabilizer are simply screwed to the rear of the fuselage. The EPO wings are fitted with a carbon spar for strength and 2 metal spars join the wings to the fuselage. Also, each aileron is reinforced with carbon to eliminate any chance of distortion or twisting. The wings are attached to the fuselage using fast connect clips, after flying, simply squeeze the clips to release the wings.
The lightweight, streamlined fuselage is blow-molded from a tough, rugged, and flexible plastic with plywood formers that will take a lot of punishment, it will bend and flex before breaking. The fuselage also includes a pre-installed main wheel which will protect the underside and provide smoother and easier landings. The EPO horizontal stabilizer and elevator are also reinforced with carbon to improve the strength and stop flutter when flying at higher speeds. Underneath the black canopy is a convenient camera mounting platform that is suitable for FPV flying right from the pilot's seat. The larger wingspan and low wing loading of the Phoenix 2400 make it ideal for FPV flying or as a very stable camera platform.
This is the 5 channel kit version which is not supplied with a motor, ESC, servos, or any electronics. Supplied is a complete airframe with motor mount, hinges, horns, screws, and folding propeller. The beauty of being the kit version is that you can choose which motor, ESC, and servos you wish to install. The Phoenix 2400 is a strong, rugged, stable, and efficient powered glider, and due to its large wing area will thermal really well with the power off. With a 200W or more 28mm motor, ample power is provided to get the Phoenix 2400 up to height very quickly for long and enjoyable soaring flights.
