I run them with a Meanwell LDD-300L (http://www.meanwell.com/mw_search/ldd-l/LDD-L-SPEC.PDF) switching DC current driver to ensure the leds are driven within rating despite the battery voltage (you can run them from about 10V to 36V input voltage). They are very bright, but only heat up to about 40C. Additionally, this driver has a PWM input (up to 1Khz, not servo-PWM) which I have connected to a GPIO of my Pixhawk flight controller using a N-FET inverter (the GPIO can't drive the current neccessary for the PWM input, I've used 100 Ohm in series to the gate for protection, 100K pull down on the gate and 1K pull up to the battery voltage on the drain). Using the PX4-built-in application gpio_led, the led stripes begin to blink when the battery reaches a low voltage.

Extreme Bright ! be careful, the polarity its reversed on JST connector, you must solder a 4.7ohms/1W in series to avoid overheating. Do not look directly over short distances

Awesome for brightness! I read some of the reviews and thought I could deal with the heat... Unfortunately it gets so hot on 3s the solder melts and the wires fall off! Too bad, because they look great. Totally unusable.

This thing is very bright but way too hot. I'm not sure what you could put this on without damaging it. Certainly not foam it would melt it seconds. Only the red color stays cool but it has what I think is a regulator in line.

ridiculously bright which is cool BUT COOL the lights aint, as mentioned in the other reviews they get WAY too hot and will drain a 1000mah 3S in about 2 mins..... Tried it on 2S but it barely lights up, guess will have to try a 9-10v set up but not too sure what to do, any suggestions?

I just got this and tested it. It's super bright but it gets very hot really fast so I'm not sure how well this will hold up.
