HobbyKing 3D Printer Filament 1.75mm ABS 1KG Spool (Black)

HobbyKing have come out with a huge new range of 3D Printer Filaments at prices that will have you printing all day and all night.

The range covers PLA, ABS, Flexible, Color Changing, Luminous, Nylon, Polycarbonate, Acetal (POM), Metal Composite and even a water soluble filament for printing molds. So there is a filament for every project you have in mind. HobbyKing filaments have a stable melting point, good round shape and most importantly a 0.05mm uniform diameter tolerance for a consistent flow rate.

ABS:

ABS is a fantastic plastic for mechanical real world use prints where a durable item is required. It has some give under stress making it perfect for multirotor frames and gears. ABS also has a higher melting point making it more suitable for some applications.

For printing with ABS it is recommended to have a heated print bed or Kapton Tape for proper bed adhesion. ABS can also have a slight odor when printing so a well ventilated room is recommended, please note that it has no odor when the print is finished.

ABS is slightly harder to get dialed in unlike PLA, but once set up the printing is consistent and the prints are truly real world useable. Other popular uses for this material are R/C spare parts, building blocks and toys for the kids.

3D printing is a fun and exciting hobby with a wide range of uses from prototyping parts to making toys for the kids. Picking the right filament for your application is very important.

Average cheap Chinese ABS

Mar 30, 2021

This ABS is very similar to many other low cost Chinese brands (probably the same). It prints fine. Colour density is sometimes less than I would like. Strength and bonding is good, suspect the ABS is not blended with anything else. Packets have some debris inside on opening. Good for structural parts.

Exceptional ABS

Apr 29, 2020

Like most ABS, this filament is a bit tricky to get dialed in. My Voron with a Volcano likes this filament at 250C with a bed temp of 105C. From there, I use a 0.3mm first layer to ensure a good stick to the bed. Beyond that, this filament prints as good as any Esun or Hatchbox ABS I normally print with. Low warping and good layer adhesion. Exceptional value.

Great for the price

Oct 08, 2018

So inexpensive using a Prusa P3 steel clone with a bunch of tweaks. I run this hot around 250-260 with 10% fan(after first layer or two), that works well for me to balance quality and strength. If strength isn't important then dropping the temp down will give better surface finish to the parts.
Overall though good stuff, ordering 5 more spools right now.

No amazing

Jun 19, 2018

Item suffers from colour variance and also low layer bondage strength. Tried from 235*C through to 255*C in temps and in all cases the layer bondage is really low (enclosed and heated build chamber with no cooling fan). Simply removing a print can cause layers to break away from each other if the wall thickness is less than 4 layers, the black is not as bad as the other colours but still pretty bad.
Best suited to prints with thick walls or a bunch of infill to support the poor layer adhesion.

Very good for the price

Feb 09, 2018

I got some decent prints at 245°C and heated bed at 105°C, without a fan.
Obviously not as good as the double or triple priced filaments, but good enough - will buy more.

Quality Cheap Filament

Jun 11, 2017

Printed on my Original Prusa I3 mk2s at 235c. The filament itself is quite runny. I ran it quite cool with a 10% fan after the 1st layer. It prints flawlessly! Even better it acetone smooths amazingly! highly recommended!

This prints very well. Smooth and strong. Had no problem getting it to stick to kapton tape with glue stick. This is a bargain.
