Developed from the ground up, we wanted to build a truly Multi-rotor specific ESC that would offer the best performance and value in the market today. We wiped the slate clean and looked to the community for inspiration and help in designing an ESC that truly could be known as “The Multi-rotor ESC”
Enter Simon and Hamasaki AKA SimonK and timecop. This combination of hardware and firmware expertise in conjunction with the HobbyKing in house engineering team gave us the edge needed to develop an ESC like no other and hence the Afro series was born.
Boasting high efficiency, all N-channel MOSFET design, jitter-free hardware PWM input, and smooth power response the Afro ESC series are set to change the expectations of multi-rotor pilots around the globe. The Afro ESC series ship with multi-rotor specific SimonK software preloaded! No need to re-flash. For added convenience the Turnigy USB linker can be used via the PWM signal lead for any future software updates eliminating the need for complicated flashing jigs or the need to cut open the heat shrink.
MikroKopter I2C compatibility has also been built in as standard. A DIY port is available under the shrink wrap which allows using the ESC with MikroKopter hardware that uses I2C control.

Excellent ESC for multi-rotor projects, using them on a Y6 frame with 2218 motors and 12x3.8 SF props. So far they seem up to the job. Thumbs up.Works brilliantly with my multistar 4822 390kv motors in a hexcopter configuration. No sync issues at all when i'm changing throttle across the entire range. Warm to touch when running, very nice quality.day & night difference flys soo much better ,than the multistar esc that came with my sk 450 quad A MUST HAVE ESC FOR MULTICOPTERS highly recommended productFantastic ESC. I have used a heap of different speedies and these are as good as the more expensive ones. Only time will tell if they last though! One main one I use is the KISS esc and it weighs only 2g and is tiny which is nice, but only handles 4s max. This speedy comes pre soldered, can take 6s no problem, is super fast/lightning response, and is well priced. Well worth looking at. All the other afro's should be the same, just pick the one that suits your cell count and amp reading... If you are using more than 20amps per motor (even fairly big motors) you have picked a motor with too high a KV rating!Good Afro. cheap and tiny
