The NEW Race Spec Mini 20A AFRO is geared for the mini FPV racers, Featuring true 20A capabilities and yet is the same size or smaller than most 12A esc. This was made possible with a new 4 Layer PCB design to handle the current and dissipate the heat. Race Spec also ships with the latest firmware with auto one-shot detection and Comp-PWM enabled. Race Spec is plug and play race ready.

Developed from the ground up, we wanted to build a truly Multi-rotor specific ESC that would offer the best performance and value in the market today. We wiped the slate clean and looked to the community for inspiration and help in designing an ESC that truly could be known as “The Multi-rotor ESC”

Enter Simon and Hamasaki AKA SimonK and timecop. This combination of hardware and firmware expertise in conjunction with the Hobbyking in house engineering team gave us the edge needed to develop an ESC like no other and hence the Afro series was born.

Boasting high efficiency, all N-channel MOSFET design, jitter-free hardware PWM input, and smooth power response the Afro ESC series are set to change the expectations of multi-rotor pilots around the globe. The Afro ESC series ship with multi-rotor specific SimonK software preloaded! No need to reflash. For added convenience the Turnigy USB linker can be used via the PWM signal lead for any future software updates eliminating the need for complicated flashing jigs or the need to cut open the heat shrink.

This version of the Afro multi-rotor speed controller has been developed especially for the growing 250 FPV racing class. The demands of the FPV racer are very high but this speed controller ticks all the right boxes, it is very small and lighweight but still packs a mighty punch.

Please note that this speed controller is Opto so you will require a seperate power supply for the RC etc.

Specs:
Current Draw: 20A Continuous
Voltage Range: 2-4s Lipoly

Royalties paid on each unit sold to SimonK and Hamasaki for their design work, without which the Afro ESC would never have been born, thanks guys!

I had them for months now, and it works really well, I used in different motors and it performed super well with low as 530 Kv and also high as 2.000's, I have nothing to say other than I would buy it again!

These have been good to me so far.

I ended up flashing with BLHeli as I found it to work better with the Motolab Cyclone Flight controller using Betaflight. I have stable looptimes of 1kHz using Lux Float.

This is on a Nighthawk clone 250 body.

Ordered 4, 2 were DOA. Had 2 replaced and ordered one extra just in case. I got one good one and two bad ones. I had to also buy the programmer and reflash them to BLHeli to get them to work because the SimonK firmware was throwing errors and not arming, so by no means were they plug-n-play. The good one did not perform like the other 3 good ones I had left and then it decided to smoke my motor and its replacement motor. They are cheap and there is a small chance they will work great, but a 4/7 failure rate is unacceptable. I have other afro escs that work fine, but no 20a ones besides my 3 survivors. Stay far away unless you want to mess with them a lot and replace them a lot.

Bought four only two worked.. One exploded just after connecting it to a 2S LIPO (not 4s) I use Cobra 2208 and they have sync issues on 4s. After reflashing with BlHeli 14.1 or Rapidflash they do work quiet well. Definitely not an alternative to KISS or SNs (tried the afros because I had billions of KISS fires..)

These things are very nice! - Flashed with Blheli 14.0, used that setup on the Afro 30, enabled oneshot and PWM Damped Light braking. No synch issues on 3S 40C & Cobra 2300KV - perfect match for my Warpquad.
