This is the one you have been waiting for...DFC rotor head, shaft-driven tail system, carbon fiber main frame and dripping in alloy parts, the Assault 700 DFC helicopter is here!

When it comes to helis, size DOES matter. The bigger they are, the better they fly! Following the current trends, the Assault 700 is using a DFC (Direct Flight Control) rotor head which provides crisp, precise flight control with a very low parts count and easy setup. The DFC rotor head design brings the rotor disc closer to the main frame, moving the center of gravity closer to the middle of the heli. This provides better flight characteristics and more agility allowing for the ultimate in extreme 3D flight performance!

The Assault 700 is decked out with aluminum parts which other manufacturers normally sell as upgrades. The entire main frame is constructed from lightweight yet extremely rigid carbon fiber. The main shaft is supported by triple bearing blocks which are also constructed from aluminum. The tail assembly is all alloy and utilizes high quality NMB bearings designed for high speed use. The dually supported tail-pitch slider provides slop-free, precision tail control and now features an upgraded threaded alloy (replaceable) sleeve.

The electronics mounting design is well thought out on the Assault, allowing very easy access to the motor, ESC, servos, FBL system and radio equipment. The front cyclic servos mount directly to the bearing blocks keeping the design rigid, simple and tidy. The direct to swash CCPM servo linkages eliminate troublesome bellcrank systems found on other helicopter kits and offers precise, direct control to the swash.

The battery mounting system features a carbon fiber battery tray which is secured using alloy rails inside the frame. It allows for very easy battery swaps by sliding out of the frame with the batteries attached.

The Assault 700 DFC is mostly pre-built requiring only a few hours for final assembly, electronics installation and setup. We carry a full range of high quality components for this kit which can be found in the related items section below.

Features:
• High precision DFC rotor head

Change the Gears and you are good to go

Oct 31, 2019

I`m very impressed of this kit in summary. I Changed all the Gears and the swashplate into Align Parts which fits perfect in the Model.
Do not use the Rear Blades out of plastic, they are crap.
I fly this Monster now for a few weeks, and it rocks. The Sound in a funnel is awesome!

Good Quality

Sep 23, 2019

This is a good quality product. There is no need to use and upgrade part. It flies pretty well out of the box. I used a Pixhawk with ArduCopter 3.6 and made a solid GPS position hold.

Great value

Aug 10, 2019

Amazing amount of carbon & aluminium for the price! Although it comes largely pre-assembled, i stripped everything down to check for loctite & was pleasantly surprised. A couple of holes in the side frames needed to be elongated, as the tail drive gear casing was being distorted which in turn gave excessive gear lash, but otherwise everything was spot on. After 3 flights (modest headspeeds of 1350-1500, mainly hovering, no 3D) the main gear was showing signs of wear, with white powder on the side frames near motor pinion, so gears were switched over to Align slant gears. About 25 flights since, with increased headspeed, and absolutely no issues. The slant gears are a must. Cannot fault the performance. Would purchase again in a heartbeat.

Great helicopter for the money

Apr 10, 2018

I was a little skeptical after seeing some of the bad reviews, but not anymore this is a great helicopter. Fit and finish spot on. Nothing damaged or missing out of the box. I only have about twenty flights no problems. Great helicopter for the money.

Not for beginner, not a straight forward product, contains some production/project mistakes and requires some machining. Put a little plus $ and buy a Chaos 700 (US$ 299 @ 2018/01) from RC Aerodyne USA

Issues: frame holes of anti-rotation bracket are small and have to be re drilled for correct size. Collective arms too long, you can't set neutral main blades angle unless doing some modifications or replacing them. Gears made of crap plastic, very poor quality. But after all correcting work it's a beautiful bird. Aileron and pitch servo openings have to be enlarged by width to fit standard size servos. Ops, don't crash it, because lots of replacements parts are out-of-stock; or buy another kit just for spare parts

Pretty good honestly...

Sep 24, 2017

I haven't had it a long time, so I cannot comment on longevity.. However, for the price, at least as far as the build, it's a steal for a 700 sized machine.. Yes, mine had a couple issues that hobbyking is addressing promptly(my auto gear was very out of round, and the anti rotation pin /swashplate hole was stripped of off the box), however, besides that, it's a pretty decent kit. The screw heads are a bit soft to me, but I tend to hard tighten.. And yes, my head links are also too long, but I will address that issue later..
But besides these things, the kit goes together well and actually so far, has hovered smoothly.. I run low headspeed(1700),as I'm just tinkering with this kit at this point, so I'm not sure about an insane headspeed and how it would hold up. But from what I'm seeing, honestly, I think it would be fine.. The parts are cheap enough to the point that this machine is almost disposable.. But it's certainly a nice looking kit.. Mine came with thread lock on mostly everything, but I still went through the entire kit(not only to check the lock, but also to check for example the square on the frames and to smooth out the bearing blocks)..
The instructions are pretty vague(in words) and is basically pictures/Iso drawings , but if you've built helicopters before(especially align machines), it's easy to get it together.. I wish there were more parts like screws available(to buy afterwards) , and given in the kit as extras, as some things like the servo mounts(the servo side) , do not specify.. However, so far, I do like the kit /machine very much..
And when you factor in the cost, and that from what I read, most of the align parts are a direct fit, and easy to come by, and even the assault parts are insanely cheap, it's a good buy..
