I think they fixed the problem I read about where the nut is preventing the antenna from making contact to the port which leads to overheat and ruin the cam. the quality is good, I like how compact solution for fpv this is. recommended

I have had a number of Boscam things dead in the arse when they arrive. This didn't let me down. Rooted on arrival.Lets see how long this review lasts. 18/11/15

In short it has bad light balancing and videos corrupt often. Only have a 40pcnt success rate with the recorded images. Video does not look 720P. Very grainy with decent lighting. Because of the light balancing I do not suggest it for FPV because with a little turn of the quad the images go almost black and all you can see are outlines of objects along the horizon. I would not suggest this item at this time.

The picture is so dark...
It's not suitable for fpv or recording...!
It's better in sunny day. This cam haven't a setup. The exposition is the problem .
Boscam or hobbyking purpose anything and don't answer to my mail.
See on youtube, lot of peoples have the same problem...
Don't buy this item.

1 video quality is rubbish
2 light balance is stupid
3 even fpv tx range is too short

Video files are always corrupted even when the instructions about being sure to flick record switch off before disconnecting the power (and waiting up to two minutes or more in my fruitless tests.) There's also no way to add OSD (on screen display / telemetry) later, in case you hadn't realised that already. Transmission is OK. Picture quality is OK.

I got about 600m range out of mine, with standard clover leaf antennas. It does get warm on the bench especially if you leave the SMA nut/washer in place, such that most antennas will not contact on the center pin properly. There's plenty of cooling up in the air though, so this doesn't bother me much.

Maybe their next version will be better. I wouldn't recommend this one.

Good range, light weight, but very below par video quality compared to what you expect from a modern camera, and there MUST have been a way of placing the aerial at the top of the unit !!

Still happy with it, but it could have been amazing.

well i received mine yesterday....it powers on, the led comes on...it gets hot and if im really lucky i get a terrible picture on my 5.8ghz receiver on any of the 8 channels.
I find in the Hobbyking advert for the camera on youtube YOU DONT EVEN SHOW IT WORKING is that because your one didnt work like mine!.....also on youtube Hobbyking say"its better with a clover leaf antenna" so must be aware of issues..i have now purchased two of these antennas from an auction site to try to get a working system,,,so far unimpressed the TR1 unit doesnt do what it says. if the new antennas dont work i will be returning this camera..............

I think the people that say the camera is not generating an FPV signal have not put a card in the camera yet. I tried to get a signal without the card in the camera and it didn't generate one. Once I installed a card, the camera worked fine and the signal transmits from quite a distance, which is surprising since the overall package is so light. I found I had to switch channels to get a better signal that would transmit farther. Don't hesitate to experiment with the dip switches in the back. It also records great, although I find that sometimes it does not properly close the file out each time I switch the front switch to camera as shown in the Hobbyking Video and this leads to a file that cannot be read on the computer. Other times the files are made properly and I get great video. Still working on why. If any of you have ideas, I would like to hear them. Despite this, the camera is a great FPV camera because you can put it on the smallest planes and get a great air to ground picture.

Note remove the Nut on the SMA-RP attachment. As the above reviewer posted the SMA is connector is really short and probably did not allow the antenna to seat correctly. Before removing the nut this all in one ran really hot. After the nut was removal the unit seamed to run cooler especial at the SMA connector. Excluding this problem, I think this is going to be an awesome product.
