HobbyKing 3D Printer Filament 1.75mm PLA 1KG Spool (Color Changing - Green to Yellow)

HobbyKing have come out with a huge new range of 3D Printer Filaments at prices that will have you printing all day and all night.

The range covers PLA, ABS, Flexible, Color Changing, Luminous, Nylon, Polycarbonate, Acetal (POM), Metal Composite and even a water soluble filament for printing molds. So there is a filament for every project you have in mind. HobbyKing filaments have a stable melting point, good round shape and most importantly a 0.05mm uniform diameter tolerance for a consistent flow rate.

PLA:

PLA has a lower melting point and prints easier than other materials. One of the most important features is that PLA is non-toxic, and even has a sweet smell when printing. PLA has a low shrinkage rate and it is very rigid with minimal flex. This material can print extremely high resolution models and is perfect for a wide range of uses. PLA is considered stronger than ABS but is more susceptible to cracking when subjected to flexing, impact or torsional loads so the mechanical needs of the print project need to be evaluated.

PLA has a huge range of vibrant colors and opacity for that perfect look whether it is artistic or utilitarian, in short a great material for 3D printing. PLA can be printed without the use of a heat bead, and can stick to glass or a PCB plate with a binder such as hairspray or white glue for a curl free print.

Colour changing PLA will change colour when it reaches 29°C.

3D printing is a fun and exciting hobby with a wide range of uses from prototyping parts to making toys for the kids. Picking the right filament for your application is very important.

unconsistent results

Feb 02, 2019

With the Hobbyking PLA, in 95% of the times I get a clog somewhere during the print resulting in an incomplete print.
I've tried the whole temp range from 190° up to 245°C (I know this is a bit too hot for PLA) but this didn't solve the issue.
In order to verify against other suppliers I've done several prints with other PLa material and these prints were completed with overall good results.
I'm not sure if the HK brand is just (too) low quality of if it has some inadequate roundness,...
Prints have been performed on my Maylan M200,

prints well

Sep 14, 2018

printed at 215 initial layer then 210 i found once a few layers had been completed part of the print lifted, was not a reason on the print i was doing to stop the print and the rest was completed without issue and carried decent detail with no stringing or layer issues, the yellow it changes too is more a light green/yellow not full yellow but i can live with that, art the price its worth a try

Great Filament!

Jan 15, 2018

I only used the filament for one test print (benchy) so far, and i already like it.
The benchy was printed on my Anet A6 using a temperature of 222°C without heated bed.
I have attached pictures of the result - i will buy this, or some other colors again!
